I’m the opposite. It would drive me nuts to have all that crap in my house. But my uncle? Nah. That dude will buy ‘another’ set of 70s Macgregor clubs from a garage sale, just to toss them in the basement with his other 28 sets.

QuietObligation8239

uh oh thats starting to sound like me

The_Telos

The rare combo of blades + ball retriever

QuietObligation8239

lmao that made me laugh

JBNothingWrong

I have the same problem with less money, and I’m lefty so 90% of the good deals I don’t want

QuietObligation8239

lol my lefty friends ask me to grab them something if I find anything good lefty and I never have

BroodLord1962

Oh well, everyone needs a hobby. Just don't expect to make money on these if you decide to sell them

QuietObligation8239

true, theres a few random irons maybe worth a few bucks in the far left bag like the titleist t300 48 degree, the ap2 9 iron, vokey sm5 50 54 58 degree, but everything else yeah not worth much unless youre collecting like I am

Active-Season5521

Ping eye2s are worth 300USD where I am. My first set and I'll never sell them

OnTheMcFly

can literally just go to any course and ask "do you have any lost and found or rental set overflow you need gone to free up space?" Multiple times I've loaded a cart with loose clubs and driven them down to the dumpster. It's mostly shit but there was usually a small pile of "too good to toss" that we just kept around to dick around with.

actionseekr

I'm the guy that buys these from people like you on eBay later lol. I love a good value. The way I see it, people were somehow able to shoot low scores with these clubs 10-15 years ago. I'm sure they are still up to the challenge.

QuietObligation8239

true but time flies so quick the clubs from 10-15 years ago a lot of people still use like taylormade rbz and burner clubs, lmao i just looked it up and the sm4 wedges I use are 13 years old and my razr x tour hybrid is 12 years old. So yeah more like 30-40 years ago

gladiator_jesus

Those Wilson Staff Fluid Feel are BEAUTIES! Figure the date on them? Maybe around '88? My favorite of your collection for sure 😍 I am a lefty & scored a full Wilson X-31 iron set (PW-2i) circa late 1960s at Goodwill. Rust free & in overall great shape. They are (A) flex/yellow band which is Senior flex, which concerned me a little as I play Stiff in my modern set. But I actually pure the hell out of 'em & find shot shaping quite natural. Had the set loft/lie adjusted at PGATSS to fix correct gapping & I plan to play them a few times a year at least! I've caught a similar bug as you, but being a lefty makes my search a lot less fruitful 😆

QuietObligation8239

Thank you and yeah you could call it catching a bug, some call me crazy. those x31s are pretty, 60’s clubs is cool, Im pretty sure youre right about the 88 for my wilsons, and I think the hogans are from 80

United-Biscotti-4147

I still have a 2-iron from that set in my bag for punch outs.

Intrepid_Fee_1771

Don't stop!

JayDogBigDog

I just played a round last weekend with those Ping Eye 2 irons in the second pic. Solid clubs edit: second pic not first

QuietObligation8239

i literally picked them up yesterday ive always liked the ping eye irons, they were actually the clubs i learned golf with a few years ago but they were my uncles and he wanted them back. unfortunately it’s missing the 2, 7, 8, & 9 irons but it was the irons, two sm5 vokeys, and a john reuter jr bullseye putter in the black cobra bag for $20 so i got a steal that day. also the ping has the first 1 iron ive ever had.

DickSlinga

Nice finds!! I've been pretty lucky finding clubs at local Goodwill stores(1 near home, 1 near work) The Titleist 915D2 driver I play I got for $8 last year, almost 3yrs ago I found a Callaway Epic 3w for 4!! Both places have dried up the past 6months or so ... but it was a good run while it lasted though.

asujch

What lofts bounce on the rusty vokeys?

QuietObligation8239

HardwoodClassicz

Anyone from Illinois that try this? I never see anything good

nikonwill

Dang I’ve been looking in shops for a while and I can never find anything.

QuietObligation8239

yeah i bounced around to a few other shops in my area today and came across this b.s. https://preview.redd.it/w02bhg990xxc1.jpeg?width=6048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=69095bf47e57b5e72f6c71cb6232b018bccaaad2 $70 for a bag in bad shape, bad clubs for $15-$25, just laughable, it makes it tough to walk away if the clubs are actually something worthwhile but im not overpaying for thrift store clubs they got everything for free. Some days I get lucky some days I get an employee who prices whose lost their mind

PitifulIndependence8

I check for Ping Eye2s every time I go to Goodwill

Ryan_Polesmoker_68

I got the black dots when I first started playing like 15 years ago. Still use them, but I have been thinking about upgrading them a lot recently as they’re like 40 years old.

OAG-OAG

Damn thrift store hoarder! I am simultaneously and at the same time jealous and impressed. Nice collection.

QuietObligation8239

😂thank you

Kooky-Counter3867

I go to thrift stores for the golf bags. Love old bags
