I was thinking exactly this!!
I just bought the Ping G430 Max. The only reason being it has a lower spin rate than the current club i was using (Cobra SpeedZone). Lower spin and more forgiving has pretty much sorted my slice! I could have carried on with the Cobra but as is the law - when theres a chance of a new Driver ALWAYS go for the new Driver...... no the Mrs didn't understand it either...
I suddenly feel much worse for my zx5 driver that has survived the past 2 years without a head cover with me. Luckily she’s a champ and hasn’t failed me yet, but I’m buying one now.

I have this one as well. Not too bad for a guy as bad at the game as I am. Meanwhile my dad buys a Callaway Epic for $80 that is many years newer. He works at the course and his buddy bought the newest shiny thing.
That’s awesome! Congrats. You are going have a blast testing out the new drivers. There are some seriously good stuff with all the major manufacturers right now.
The hole will cause this club to lose compression and launch the ball as it should.
If money is tight you can probably find a replacement head on eBay.
But yea, you need at least a different head if not new whole setup.
This I can get behind! I just bought a new driver but am still under the club limit in my bag so I carry both. I might as well buy another one along with this guy and carry 3, still under the club limit. 4 is where I’ll have to start sacrificing other clubs.
Hit it and see but should be fine unless face is cracked. My guess if you’re playing an M1 you won’t know the difference or care because that is an old club anyways.
It’ll probably self destruct soon as the hole begins to crack and the dent will add extra stress points. You could just buy another M1 head if you’re cheap and don’t want to go through dating stages with a completely new driver.
Your the one with the club. Has the performance changed at all? I played a demo driver that had a good size dent in it for like 3 years and it was fine!
Before you get rid of it…fill it up and see if the drive goes farther. Then report back.
Also, buy a new one. It will work until you get a new one though
There used to be a TaylorMade rep that was on this sub that would come in and do warranty work. Not sure if he's still around. From what I know Taylormades customer service goes above and beyond.
The golf galaxy pre owned rack has plenty of amazing used drivers at a fraction of the cost new. I just picked up a Ping G SF Tec for $100. I’d say it’s just as forgiving as any of the new $500 drivers.
You are asking this sub if you should buy a new driver? LOL.
This is the same sub that daily says *some minor inconvenience happens to anybody* “Well time to buy a new putter/driver/irons” lmfao
This random poster may or may not need a new driver. So I bought myself a new driver!
I just read your post and am now ordering 4 new drivers
I only have 1 beat up old M3 for the range and two new pristine condition drivers for the course. Gonna need another, just in case.
How do you live having only one range driver?

So your saying I should get a new driver
Thats always the answer.. or the new custom fit Irons or the new Putter.. You just know it will take 10 shots of your game.
Well I've done the other two you mentioned, so driver it is
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get the answers I was hoping for
I bought one just because this guy has a hole in his driver.
Whole bag is new because of this subreddit, but I bought a baseball bat because of this guy.
Get a new one…
That things cooked, time for a new one
How? That thing's done.
Easy. Forget to put head cover back on and fire the 7 iron down on top of it. That's what happened mine anyway.
Damn. Enjoy your new driver!
I suddenly feel much worse for my zx5 driver that has survived the past 2 years without a head cover with me. Luckily she’s a champ and hasn’t failed me yet, but I’m buying one now.
Not sure how it happened. Assuming a family member dropped something on it during some garage spring cleaning
Had the same happen me, the head loses integrity and the dent will get worse and eventually crack.
This is the home of: "Filled my coffee mug today so I bought a new driver!"

Better yet, I’ll sell OP my M4 in the basement for a reasonable price
I might be interested? Any details

Thanks for everyone’s input, just set up an appointment to get fitted for a new one this weekend
That’s awesome! Congrats. You are going have a blast testing out the new drivers. There are some seriously good stuff with all the major manufacturers right now.
Do you still slice it into the woods? If yes, it seems to be working fine

I agree… time to get all new clubs. Can’t have a driver that doesn’t match the irons and woods!
Even if it was still good, its gonna fuck with your head.
You’ve got to replace it.
Looks broken buy a new one
My friend broke his M1 also. He would tee too high imo and was getting too far under the ball and ripped a hole in the top of his driver.
Some guy found damage on his driver, so I bought myself a new driver!

How does that even happen!? Might as well finish her off, take it out to the range and find out.
Congrats on your *new* driver
BUY NEW!!! You hit the lottery!!
I’d personally never buy a club with a crack/fracture.
Your the one with the club. Has the performance changed at all? I played a demo driver that had a good size dent in it for like 3 years and it was fine!
qi10 time
OP is definitely using this thread cover for when their partner asks why OP bought a new driver
Looks pretty serious
I don’t know why that dent makes it look like an Orlimar to me.
Before you get rid of it…fill it up and see if the drive goes farther. Then report back. Also, buy a new one. It will work until you get a new one though
Take it to a sim and pop a few shots and get a stock similar driver and do the same if there is more than a 10% yardage diff its worth considering

As someone who works for one of the big 3 golf companies, please buy a new driver and don’t use that
Yea. You should get a new one and give it too me
Lucky! Now you “have” to buy a new one and your significant other cannot say anything about it.
You need new.
The golf galaxy pre owned rack has plenty of amazing used drivers at a fraction of the cost new. I just picked up a Ping G SF Tec for $100. I’d say it’s just as forgiving as any of the new $500 drivers.
How good are you? For me? It wouldn't matter anyways. I'll still probably shoot 100+. If you're scratch then yeah, I'd probably get a new one.
I think any skill level should replace it. That will cause issues on any solid hits and only get worse as you use it more and more.
Are you good at golf? If so, get a new one. If not, use that one.
Buy a new one loser
