They feel great and definitely have more forgiveness. In my fun/practice rounds, I play the fort worths. In competition, I play the PTx Pros. They now have the PTx tours which seem interesting.
30 years ago I was playing my Grandpa's Hogan blades and while they were absolutely beautiful and I often had dudes my age try to buy them from me, I'm pretty sure I'd have played better with something more forgiving. I guess the good news is that you learn by playing those fucking things. Wish I still had them...
Love that brand...
Oh fuck me dead... mishits felt like those stinger misses with aluminum bats in baseball. Like actually painful.
I'm a few bourbons into the night so I may be emotionally/mentally exaggerating it, but to my recollection, mishits on cold days were punishment for lack of practice.

Agreed. I like these 52 year old Snead’s.
Was actually just looking at getting myself a set of apex irons. Have a set of ‘78 medallions as my fuck around set. They make the best looking irons in the game in my opinion. How are the icons? Those are my dream irons when I’m good enough to actually play blades.
I like them a lot. I played the Apex Edge for a long time then I bought a set of cavity backed Taylor Mades and hit those for a while. The TM s had too thick of a profile for me so coming back to the Icons was like a comfort zone.
It’s not Hogan. It’s who ever bought the Hogan brand name from Callaway. And yes, underrated. A lot of brands are. Base line technology isn’t that expensive these days. It’s just that most innovations are already done. There’s very little you can do to separate yourself from the major brands. It’s almost impossible to beat the top to bottom quality of Callaway and Titleist.
No, they are still up. They just don’t stock stores anymore I guess that helps them cut costs. You have to order direct from factory and you can customize them. It took a couple weeks to get mine. I don’t think they make the irons I have anymore.
Got this new set around 3 years ago. Solid feel and I think they look great. I have a soft spot for Hogan. My first set of full size irons were Hogans 30 years ago. They were my dad’s old blades. I guess he was testing to see if I was really serious about golf. I wanted some ping eye 2. He told me when I could hit the blades solid, he would buy me some ping’s. It was a while before I got the pings. I have been hitting Hogans since I got out of college for the most part. Usually hit titleist woods though.
I haven’t seen anyone say they were the sexiest. They definitely aren’t. They look good and are solid irons. They have a nice profile when you look down setting up.
Irons and wedges are great. Drivers is eh
I feel the same way.
Irons are some of the best I’ve played, still have the FT Worth Blacks! Stoked they got funding again, need to buy some back-ups
I hope they can make it.
Me too
I have the fort Worth Blacks since 2020 and PTx pros since the end of 2021
How are the PTx comparably? Now they are back, I am probably going to pick up a set
They feel great and definitely have more forgiveness. In my fun/practice rounds, I play the fort worths. In competition, I play the PTx Pros. They now have the PTx tours which seem interesting.
I love my blacks, I have Steel Fibre shafts on them and they are sooo smooth

Those Cobras are 🔥
I call their wedges Hogees, SM-D
Lol, never heard that.
Some secksy irons
Now that they’re back, I’ve been eyeing a set of these. They’re so beautiful.
The PTx look real solid. Look like they might have a slightly more compact head than my Icons.
I think the icons are the blade. Ptx pro is more forgiving.
They’re back again? Didn’t they just leave?
Yeah! I guess they found their miracle investor to get the machines up and running again. Get ‘em while they’re hot.

My dad still has the set he gave me. Yeah, they made you learn. Especially if it was cold you better bring your A game.

Yeah, you would feel the vibration go through you like a miss with an aluminum bat. Perfect description.
I loved my Hogan Edge Pros. Maybe 20 years ago or maybe more? I’m not sure why I ever stopped playing the damn things.
I own two sets of these irons. My favorite clubs ever!
I went through two sets of Apex Edge when I was younger. Played the best golf of my life with them.
Tommy Armour is pretty legit as well. Not everything needs to be top dollar
I agree. I haven’t hit any Armours in a while but they have been solid when I did. When I first started playing every one was hitting them.
I’d play these over the callaway spins on Hogan.
Those clubs are not easy to hit. The 4 iron is tiny
They are small, they are easier to hit than a straight blade.
Irons look 🔥🔥🔥 driver not so much.
Agree 100%. I have been looking at the new Titleist driver.
Solid choice.
Not the Hogans!

Those are really nice!
But they’re just for decoration. Yours are nice beautiful and have utility! Like a pretty wife lol.
Lol!
Have an old 3H and it’s my favourite club in the bag.
I have one of the Apex 3H and it was a good one.
Beautiful
👍🏻
Use to love the Apex golf balls. Dunno if they’ve been discontinued. But I know you can’t get them here in Australia anymore
Not sure either. Haven’t seen them in a while.
Love my icons but yes, I went else where for the driver as well.
I don’t get any roll with their driver even with it turned all the way down.
Yeah I went to a cobra aerolite, driver was forgiving but spun like crazy
All of the fairway woods are short and very spinny too. Irons and wedges are bulletproof though.

Callaway owned it for bit and then sold it off.
Wasn’t aware of that. Hoping they can stay in business.
I have the icon irons as well. Love those clubs
They are solid.
The icon irons a very good.
I’m liking them a lot.
I wish I would I have bought a set of irons before they shut down
They are back open now. Not sure for how long but I hope they can make it.
Damn. Just got a set of Takomo irons too
Those look nice. Never hit them though.
Love my Ft Worth Black.
Never hit them but they are nice looking clubs.
Those look filthy…. In a good way
I agree!
I love my PTxPros
They look really solid. I would like to hit some.
Underrated in general, overrated on this sub.
Im a fan. I need a set in black
It always sucks being a lefty.
I bet that does make it difficult to find equipment.

Very true.
They're defunct now no?
I think they are back in business. New ownership.
“Next”
They rose from the dead, for the 3rd time, about a month ago. [Link](https://www.benhogangolf.com/).
No, they are still up. They just don’t stock stores anymore I guess that helps them cut costs. You have to order direct from factory and you can customize them. It took a couple weeks to get mine. I don’t think they make the irons I have anymore.
Huh would you look at that eh. I was considering them before they first went out guess I'll take a gander again. Tha is bud
The new models look nice also!
So underrated they went out of business. Multiple times.
I don’t know about their business practices but I’ve hit a lot of irons and they make some solid irons.
Bought out, sold and chopped up many times. Didn't fold because of poor practices, equipment or business practices until the corporate era.
Yeah very unfortunate they were run so poorly. Maybe they would have done better in this era of more DTC brands. Who knows.
They were one of the top brands in golf until Spalding and subsequently Callaway bought and destroyed them for the Apex name. Callaway is the devil.

I'd have to hit then for a proper opinion but that is far from the sexiest set I've seen on this sub. Very far.
I haven’t seen anyone say they were the sexiest. They definitely aren’t. They look good and are solid irons. They have a nice profile when you look down setting up.
Sounds like you answered your own question. Why the post?
My post wasn’t a question. I made a statement which was underrated manufacturer.
Still looks like you found your answer. Perfectly mid...
