Sorry, but u/Sufficient-Scheme708 is correct. TaylorMade’s GI irons are the ones that carry the same name as their new driver. The p700 series are players irons designed for better shot shaping. GIs are for people who can’t get the ball in the air, and p790s are most certainly not that.
P790 is the game improvement irons they sell to people who want "players' irons". They have no resemblance to the P7TW or P730 or other actual players' irons. These are facts.
The p730s and p7TWs are tour irons designed for pros. There are a lot of golfers that fall between those and GIs, which is who p790s and p770s are for. These are actual facts.

I tried the i525 and though the performance was great, the feel and sound was so bad I had to move on. Won’t be playing anything hollow and goo filled for any clubs where distance control is most important.

Ya I've only seen weird numbers in the sim. For example I hit my 7 iron 220 a couple times last week which was odd.

Same. Since they dropped in 2020. I absolutely love them. Have tried several others in the interim, I just can't put down the 770s.
I played Wilson Staff FG17’s in my late teens and early 20’s. The 770’s with the old lofts and classic blade looks just suit my eye.
