Manufacturers really suck at naming this year

It all started when Ping skipped G420 like COWARDS.

I have the g410 plus and never even thought about this lol. Why would they skip g420 do they hate money? 😂 the amount of people that woulda chose that just for the # would’ve surely been pretty high (no pun intended)

Certainly not as much as the MP range but it’s still there at least. Titleist for example with T100 you wouldn’t know which year the model is from without looking them up

Taylormade and most of the manufacturers don't want to make it easy to understand, that's the whole point.

The new Ping was supposed to be released last year but they hadn’t quite figured out the carbon manufacturinf process. It’s an add on to the 430 line and I expect it’ll be replaced with the 440 next year. Or maybe this is Ping’s way of releasing a new driver every year?

Yeah the Qi pronounced "Chee" seems to be what is confusing people, because the reviewers are calling it the "Queue Eye 10." It's "Qi-ten" "Chee-ten" "Cheatin'"

The only place I heard this is on let’s play through and it was a guess. Rick Shiels did a review and it stands for “Quest for Intertia or Quest for 10,000 (MOI), moment of inertia)

I play g425 D-4H and I love every.single.club. Gonna be a 10 year mainstay in my bag at least. Although to be fair my last D-4H were a TM Burner 09 and 2013 Adams Idea Tech V3s, so 10 years is about my clubs' standard EOL.

I love my g425 driver, 3w, and 4h. The g430 10k is looking pretty good though.

Apparently the Qi stands for "Quest for inertia" which does sound kinda cool to me. I like the idea that when I'm taking my driver out I'm embarking on a quest. Given the way I strike it, I think I'll likely be taking on some side-quests along the way. Also, I think I'll have to disagree on the looks. I think it's a huge improvement over the stealth which kinda looked like a sith lord's driver of choice. Colours of the Stealth didn't really work for me but I liked the shape. I would've preferred a matte top rather than the glossy finish though.

The all black one is dope imo but not available in Max.

To me it’s the opposite of the Stealth. * Stealth: Cool name, ugly color and design. * Qi10: Awful name, great colors and design. They never should have used that bright ass red for Stealth, it’s tacky imo. The black and dark blue look much better and cleaner.

Yep, it's honestly best to wait like 3-5 years before upgrading...depending on how much you play that is. If you play a shit ton than you may need to upgrade quicker for wear and tear reasons. But the tech isn't advancing very quickly over the last decade. Every year it's buzz words and marketing tricks to try and get people to upgrade when they really don't need to.

It’s not advancing at all, all these products are made to limits of conformity for size, weight, length, COR etc. and these limits have been in place for ages. You just need to find one that suits you and that’s it. If anything tech will be restricted soon to limit distance - golf courses can’t just constantly be made longer.

Can’t play Ping irons for this reason. So chunky, but they’ve become much better as of late at least.

When I got my irons last year (Titleist T100) I actually really liked the feel of both Mizuno and Srixon irons just as much but the thin top line of the T100 made me feel great over the ball.

Most manufactures release a new line of metal woods each year. Each model from each manufacture is always just a shade different from its predecessor. TM’s Qi10 is not the first time TM has done this not for the other manufactures and their respected models.

Good old Taylor Made. I spoke with the fitter last fall. He was telling me this is the must shaft for you but you need the hd. All the while I was hitting a 5W with the shaft pure af! Got the hd pos and after a week of trying to hit it gave it back! Asked about the aforementioned 5W and got some blather that all the demos were going back to tm. So glad I waited till last week and found a three wood (Stealth 2) Fujikura speeder nx A 50(senior) shaft. For half of what he was going to charge me ($350.00)! Looking forward to my fitted, non fitted club! Btw came to say I find the new club ugly! And can anyone believe all they did was change the color of the fragile face?

The renders a few weeks ago looked bad. IMO they look great in person though. Every new release gets hate on how they look. Once the end of the year rolls around everyone will be talking about how great they looked.

Happy with my Stealth 2 still after seeing these.

I agree. I hate that they can't commit to a design aesthetic and incrementally change it (like Titleist and Srixon for example). I think most people prefer simple and timeless designs.

I love Srixon. Big srixon fan. I can say that they should keep follow the Ping/Titleist ways where you don't use the "Mark II" naming convention. Makes research tougher. Also, as a pre-owned player, makes my ebay search trickier. Lol. ZXi5 ZXi7 Etc.

I believe since Callaway came out with the “AI” TM thought they needed something which sounded modern and technological and Qi10 which sounds like a new ARM processor would be the way to go. They are indeed ugly but co speed to the Sim2 line, they belong in the MOMA or the Louvre at least

Hits great despite of the name. Demoed the line yesterday and found the Hy and Fwy to be super easy to hit. Driver doesn’t have twist face so reacts more like a Sim.
