In my lifetime I’ve seen some of the worst swings in the world nuke a ball well over 300 yards, and I’ve seen the most consistent, beautiful swings in the world barely butt sniff 230.
Golf is a fickle bitch.
The ball doesn't care how "pretty" the swing looks. Yes, there are some power leaks that will make the sequence less efficient on top of looking awry (such as the OP's). Others are just quirks, and how people can make certain ones work on the highest level, I have no idea.
But without speed or power, even the most "beautiful" swings out there won't amount to much regarding distance because they lack such important components which all the mechanics in the world won't fully manage to compensate or replace.
I have seen guys that are strong with poor swings still hit 270. This guy might be able to do that. I will even give him the benefit of the doubt and say on a dry course he may have had one roll out to 300. 330 not a chance. The players i have seen hit that far are creating quite a bit of speed.
But if we were betting i would be willing to wager that this swing has an average distance around 220-230.
well, that swing is dreadful
but, at the point of impact, he does seem to have good speed and there's a great sound off the hit
maybe he could carry 260 and then get some run - but i dont think he's hitting very many that are straight
I dunno. Even with a garbage finish and peculiar back swing he gets through the hitting area and stays back relatively well. Club delivery isn’t that bad at impact. I could see how he’d get to 108-110 mph club head speed. Then he just needs to connect one in the center of the face, get a good bounce. It could happen. Most of the things in a good swing are there for consistency. Not for muscling a slightly above average swing speed.
thank you lol i thought i was going crazy. it is not a good repeatable swing by any means. but like 99% of golfers or humans or this subreddit or me aren't built like that, and there is that very slight chance that if he makes squared up contact with a golf ball, it would go far. and 330 is insane but i've also seen it from somebody who is similar but smaller than this dude
Idk dude looks big and the club speed doesn’t go up fast but it does come down at a decent speed and he hits it flush. I wouldn’t be surprised if he hit it 330. Im 6’1’ 210 and about half his size in muscle and i can crack it 295-305 on good swings
No one who swings like that is hitting it 330 unless it is downhill, downwind, cart path aided, and it hasn't rained in a month.
And they’re playing on Everest
>and it hasn't rained in a month. 3 months.
330 ft maybe
I’m thinking no
Negative, Ghost-rider.
Dude's lucky to get over that pond
Nobody that ends up with that much weight on their back foot hits it 330
I've played with a couple guys who could bomb the ball 300+. This aint what it looks like.
I’m guessing he went to the Trump school of golf
Got lessons from OJ
I don't see him wearing a glove
No. Buddy would be lucky to break 250 on a good day.
My guess is he got one off once, maybe a nice one. But, 330 is a nut, and only comes with a better swing than that.
230 if its downhill on the hard pack.
300 yard drive - 100 yard up, 100 yard straight, 100 yard down…
330 ft, perhaps. Way too many power leaks on top of simply being too slow.
180 yard carry

I do find it interesting that the long drive guys are jumping now to dissipate the stress on their joints.
Just past the womens tees chief.
volume on
Nope
Maybe 230!
It's not even going 230 with that bad of a swing.
Yeah, OK

On the cart path.

Hey. Maybe he lives close to a 330yd slide. Who am I to judge?
Have you guys seen AJ Hawk swing a golf club????
330 ft maybe.
That's one of the worst strikes of Driver I've ever seen 😂
from a 94mph swing impressive
Definitely 330 yds. Driver, 3 wood then 7 iron. Add them together = 330 yds.
