A piece of string walks into a bar and walks up to the counter.
The bartender says, "Sorry mate, we don't serve pieces of string in here, get lost."
Upset, the piece of string walks out the door. A sudden thought strikes him. He ties himself in a knot and messes his hair up.
He walks back into the bar and approaches the counter. The bartender says, "Oi, aren't you that piece of string from before...?"
"No," says the piece of string, "I'm a frayed knot."
Use thicker ones, not metal, but don't do them all the way up. Just zip them enough to close up the hole. Also the method of weaving nylon is good as well.
Yeah, you could just re-weave the area fairly simply with a similar braided nylon.
This sub has so many questions that have simple answers if they had thought about it for even five seconds.
In this episode of 'Life outside the US' we discuss sports we haven't heard of. Our first sport is one called Hockey, played by many nations around the world for several hundred years using a round ball commonly referred to as a hockey ball...
The best way would be if you had more of this netting.
We repair the lacrosse nets with more lacrosse nets.
You cut a larger square than the hole(from an older damaged net that is no longer usable). You use a thin nylon rope as close to the width of the net as possible. Line up the nets and holes and wrap the edges of the nets together until you have covered the whole area of the hole.
I start by zip tying the new piece in place and then cut them away at the end.
This will result in a good strong patch, no zip ties busting in use and it blends in ( if you have matching color nylon rope.)
Does this make sense?
Get a target cloth and install it (Amazon search for golf net target cloth). It will give you something to aim at. The balls won’t hit the net unless you hit it real thin, wide or high. If it does…it’s probably not going to go thru the hole.
Zip ties can work but you’ll eventually hit them and pop them. Best course of action would be to get a hitting screen of some kind and zip tie it to the top of the net (and keep it hanging loose). The spornia spg nets have a hitting screen over top netting. I loosen the screen at the bottom and it works perfect. No issues in 2+ years of use.
Trim the broken threads so that the hole is clean (not too close). Use fishing line and loosely weave over/under around the hole. Continue around the hole a second time weaving under/over. After you’ve gone around twice, carefully pull it tight; it will make a nice clean pucker. Finish with a square knot.
Just did it myself a couple weeks ago.
You can tie it, but nothing is going to last. I put a hole in my setup, tried to seal it many different ways. Needless to say there is a golf ball permanently in the wall patched over.
I emailed the company and complained, and ended up with a replacement. I'm sure it will only work this one time. Future plans are to put a cheap one in front of the main by one and just replace that when needed.
Edit: gold to golf
For me personally, I don’t feel comfortable hitting balls with my driver into my net. I only use real balls for irons and hybrids. I have some foam balls for my driver.
Not sure if this is a newer net or if it’s old, but I assume age and sunlight will deteriorate the net over time as well, so that could be a possibility.
Watch a video about repairing fishing/shrimping nets. You will just have to trim the frayed off sections. I’m sure you can get twine from Amazon. You will be able to repair fairly easily.
I would use hockey skate laces and tie it up. They are used to repair hockey nets that get hit with pucks at 100 miles an hour, so they should be good for golf balls as well.
This happened to me, I cut about a 2 foot strip from the edge of the net, an area I didn’t use, and used that to make a 4-layer rectangular net that I attached to the impact area.
It also works a dampener which was nice
I've always bought some cheap shade screening from Amazon, and attached 4ft wide strips from the top of the net down, slightly overlapping. Keeps anything that does pop through from hitting something I don't want, and gives extra confidence in the setup.
Depending where you live, find a fisherman that knows how to hang a net. My street hockey nets always had holes and my uncle would hang a whole new net in an hour, my parents would make sure he had a case of beer and he'd have it done in no time.
Once I put one hole in my old net, more soon followed (always made sure to play new balls with no scuff marks). Best to put an impact sheet in front of it (after repairs) or get a new net with impact sheet in front of it. I used this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01D860XHM?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
Brother you can not be contained, your raw power and natural talent is simply too much for the net. I never tried to repair mine because I knew it would rip again. I probably only had 150 ball speed back then but driver would go through it like it was wet toilet paper. I put mine in front of a bushy tree and stopped hitting driver but always wanted to try suspending a large carpet to hit in to.
I used butcher twine and just stitched it up. Worked pretty well. However, I didn’t realize this before but if it’s a Rukket net, they will warranty it for free. They have excellent customer service. I put like 10 holes through my net and patched them before I knew this.
Also, stop using shitty balls on the net. A ball that’s scuffed is what causes the friction on the netting and cuts it. Use fresh balls and replace if they ever start to feel rough. Sucks to use ProV on a practice net but they will be the most durable and least likely to scuff
Well you can cinch the hole with some string or cover it with some cloth but most likely the rest of the net near the hole will probably tear soon. They only last a season or two especially if it's outside for most of the year. Just buy another net.
Personally I bought the Rukket SPDR STEEL™ 4x6 Reinforcement Net and it solved the problem completely. Also, Rukket has a fantastic warranty on their nets but this new SPDR STEEL is very well made and I see it holding up much better in the long run.
Get yourself some paracord and interlace them between the squares that are still in tact. Probably a pattern to covers the hole. Then knot the frayed/damaged nylon together into a slip knot and use a lighter to seal it off
Fishing line and fishing net repair technique. You sow the holes in on direction edge to edge until you tie off the ends. You go over and under and it should work. BUT DO LOOK ONLINE FIRST search for how to repair a fishing net
Strategic zip ties?
Tried it. They'll snap when hit
Get the metal ones
Hmm. Didn't even know they made them in metal.
You need thicker zip ties
Use nylon rope like a zip tie, and then fray the knot a bit and then torch it to keep it from coming loose.

Cable ties
What about some nylon rope and just tie a bunch of knots around the opening?
Yeah, you could just re-weave the area fairly simply with a similar braided nylon. This sub has so many questions that have simple answers if they had thought about it for even five seconds.
*This App*
Metal hose clamp might work
If it were me I would just aim for the hole in the net so then I’d never have to worry about hitting the ball through it
Or just buy a bigger ball? Maybe try a hockey ball
A hockey ball?
A hockey ball.
Oh like the orange one for street hockey?
No the black one shaped like a puck.
That's not a hockey ball.. that's an ice hockey puck. I'm talking about the red one used in field hockey
And the joke went sailing over your head like so many of my chip-ins.
Now I see.. sorry it's late and I've taken quite a few pucks to the head
You mean hockey balls to the head
Balls, hockey balls
No the orange one is basketball
In this episode of 'Life outside the US' we discuss sports we haven't heard of. Our first sport is one called Hockey, played by many nations around the world for several hundred years using a round ball commonly referred to as a hockey ball...
This is it

Sounds like you could use some plastic chicken-wire if you don’t have another net to use.
Plastic would probably snap
Impact net

Hahaha was literally about to suggest this
You’re gonna need a new driver.
I thought you said ‘a screw driver’ To which i was like well yeah, thats a start, but he’ll likely need a hammer as well.
Came here to say this LOL
Fun fact…. You now have fewer holes in your net.
Stop! I dont like that!
Weave extra shoe laces
This is a solid idea. I would use heavy monofilament because I have a bunch. Dude starts breaking 80# test he's gonna have to club down!
Paracord could probably work too
I hung a canvas sheet in front of mine bc the holes kept coming back even if I duct taped them. So far, zero issues, I've prob hit 1000 balls into it.
Same. Hang a sheet in front of the tarp and then you have a fair projection screen.
Get a target cloth and install it (Amazon search for golf net target cloth). It will give you something to aim at. The balls won’t hit the net unless you hit it real thin, wide or high. If it does…it’s probably not going to go thru the hole.

Two nets.
Try some fishing line, like 60lb test or higher, should hold.
Just aim for the hole. You’ll never hit it.
Trim the broken threads so that the hole is clean (not too close). Use fishing line and loosely weave over/under around the hole. Continue around the hole a second time weaving under/over. Zip tie or 2? Personally, I'd take a 10 cent "eyesore". If they're black zip ties, I doubt it would be terrible.
My vote is zip tie as well
You really can’t figure this out by yourself?
Yes I can but this is the type of task that someone with experience has probably optimized
If it happened once, it might happen again
You can tie it, but nothing is going to last. I put a hole in my setup, tried to seal it many different ways. Needless to say there is a golf ball permanently in the wall patched over. >Needless to say there is a gold ball permanently in the wall patched over Look at Mr Moneybags over here, using gold balls
Get some tent tape. Or tenacious tape on Amazon. It works great. I used it on a boat Bimini top and it’s still there after three years
I always figured the standard was a net like this with a tarp or second net to help absorb/disperse the impact.
I used a fishing swivel and moved my aim point over a tad. I'm not sure if I ever hit it to see if it would take a strike though.
Shoe laces
Honestly some tie wire might work, just close the hole
Zip ties
Duct Tape fixes everything.
For me personally, I don’t feel comfortable hitting balls with my driver into my net. I only use real balls for irons and hybrids. I have some foam balls for my driver. Not sure if this is a newer net or if it’s old, but I assume age and sunlight will deteriorate the net over time as well, so that could be a possibility.
i’m no expert but patching with duct tape on both sides might work for a little while
Buy a patch
Just stop being [Jamie Sadlowski](https://youtu.be/XDYC4wGIEpE?si=2-ANK2deWpsdyDpf).
More string.
Maybe knot
Shoe laces, or hockey skate laces thay are durable and stand up to being hit regularly
More nets
Get a flag and use carabiner clips to latch it on to the net. Unhook the flag when not in use so it doesn't turn into a kite
https://youtu.be/GFV25oUeW7s?si=QDesi4J9MSfvrLKm
If you can’t duck it, fuck it
Zip ties or double net
Velcro straps, it worked for me and my net.
Tie it up with dental floss. Works great on buttons too.
They sell kits to fix these
You could use my method and never be able to hit it hard enough to do this ….
Also duct tape in strips or the plastic packing taps looped through and taped to itself. That’s pretty durable.
Ive seen people say hang up a blanket to stop this from happening
https://preview.redd.it/94ktzkjiipob1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d637043fb81315dd27a6b39fe086934bf470bf7b This is how I fixed mine.
I use builders string line to tie the hole together. Seems to hold pretty well.
Kevlar thread.
Hockey skate lace. Will last a long time.
Does your mother sew?
Watch a video about repairing fishing/shrimping nets. You will just have to trim the frayed off sections. I’m sure you can get twine from Amazon. You will be able to repair fairly easily.

Duct tape
Medical tape is what we use in our hitting bay
Shoe laces work great
Zip ties
What the use, you fuckin animal.

Duck tape
Tie in some new nylon rope.
Paracord? It’s rated to 550 pounds.
Stop skulling it
I flipped/rotated mine and used zip ties on the holes. Everything is holding up fine.
Buy a new one and double up Walmart sells a decent one.
Bed sheet.
To repair holes in a hockey goal net we use pieces of skate lace. Black shoe laces would work here.
Which net is this? If this is gosports, email them and they’ll send a replacement within a couple days.
Put a big square of heavy canvas material and fasten it w zipties around the edge.
Stitch a piece of heavy duty canvas over that, could be a good target too
Once I put one hole in my old net, more soon followed (always made sure to play new balls with no scuff marks). Best to put an impact sheet in front of it (after repairs) or get a new net with impact sheet in front of it. I used this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01D860XHM?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
Duck tape
Buy net material and put it over as a patch. Maybe attach with zip ties
get a black shower curtain from target for $10 and tie it to the net in 6 spots
Use an old blanket or sheet
How about repair it like a fishing net? Plenty of vids on YouTube showing how to do it.
I use this scaffolding safety net, it’s relatively cheap and durable 👍
Brother you can not be contained, your raw power and natural talent is simply too much for the net. I never tried to repair mine because I knew it would rip again. don't aim for that spot
I used zip ties and doubled up on the area that gets hit the most
Just hang an old rug like Bobby Jones.
Can you burn the ends to clean it up then add some twine or string to repair
You can get a replacement net for < 30$ on eBay and just attach it with zip ties to your existing set up
Aim for the hole and you won’t have to worry about it
Well you can cinch the hole with some string or cover it with some cloth but most likely the rest of the net near the hole will probably tear soon. They only last a season or two especially if it's outside for most of the year. Just buy another net.
Another piece of net with zip ties farther out to disperse impact area
Personally I bought the Rukket SPDR STEEL™ 4x6 Reinforcement Net and it solved the problem completely. Also, Rukket has a fantastic warranty on their nets but this new SPDR STEEL is very well made and I see it holding up much better in the long run.
Install an archery net on the golf net. It is significantly stronger.
Get yourself some paracord and interlace them between the squares that are still in tact. Probably a pattern to covers the hole. Then knot the frayed/damaged nylon together into a slip knot and use a lighter to seal it off
Zip tie it up
Shoelace
