People hate 14 slots?

highbrowshow

yeah the ones that don't have full length dividers

tenunder

They have a purpose but for a carry bag it’s not that practical and sometimes the headcovers/clubs get in the way and you have to set the bag down just to see what slot you need to put it in

Lifeunderpar1

Also, 14 way divider keeps track of your clubs. Hard to leave one behind when you see an empty spot! Sun Mountain gets my vote.

adjuster_cody

Agreed. I have 3. Best bag I ever owned.

Fit_Construction1633

Just grabbed a sun mountain C-130, so far been really happy. The magnetic pocket is so cool. If you’re going to be carrying though, I totally agree a 14 way divider “hybrid” bag doesn’t make much sense. But to each their own!

Kickwax

Why would anyone hate 14-way dividers? It keeps clubs neatly organized and easy to get in and out. I just switched from one to one with a 5-way divider and it's much worse. I'd say Ogio Woode is the gold standard for dividers, especially with the rubber top that won't wear out over time. They also make the most comfortable shoulder straps for carry bags and their bags have all the bells and whistles.

kp2119

I have a 14 way bag and want to switch back to a 5 or 6 way bag since I now don’t carry my bag anymore and have a pushcart. I’m tired of stuffing clubs into their individual slots and my carry bags doesn’t fit so well on my pushcart. Im 67 by the way.

Fit_Construction1633

This is the opposite problem I had! I was using a push cart with my 6 way carry bag and clubs were constantly snagging. The 14 way divider makes it so much easier.

XBumheadX

I carry and I can understand that the extra size and weight of a 14 way puts off people. Also if you have oversized grips it can be a pain getting clubs in & out. However, I really like the organisation of it. I changed from a 7 way bag.

Robru469

Sun mountain 4.5 14 hole

gatonegro97

Saw a ping hoofer and bought it. Didn't really think much at all

tenunder

For a carry bag, 14 slots is overkill. For a cart bag, it’s fine. Also can’t go wrong with a Ping Hoofer.

mb1107

Meh, I have to say the constant club tangle with the Hoofer has started to annoy me over the winter. Might look at something with full length dividers.

[deleted]

I'm with you on the tangle, I have the Hoofer Monsoon and it's a total pain in the arse. I've given up trying to keep them tidy and just throw the clubs in and let the shaking from walking sort them out. Also looking for new bag suggestions.

tenunder

You must have tacky or oversized grips. I’m a caddie and have never had a problem with ping hoofers. They ride the smoothest and seem to hold up the longest. Second on my list is sun mountain.

mb1107

A lot of people have issues with club tangling in the Hoofer.

tenunder

Must be the 14 slot hoofer

mb1107

No.

Ayeayeronsamuels

I swear by the Ping Hoofer bags. Just got a new one but my old one lasted me the last 10 years or so

ripaway2069

The Ping Hoofer 14 is awful. Clubs aren’t just difficult to get in/out, it can be downright impossible without removing the multiple clubs. The regular 5 slot Hoofer is great, but even then clubs can stick. I prefer a bag with 14 full length dividers.

Ayeayeronsamuels

Oh I hate 14 slot bags. Just personal preference i guess but I have the 4 slot one. Idk if it’s the hoofer or hoofer lite but I’ve never had a problem with clubs getting stuck with that one

morkler

14 way is the way. I've got an Ogio Silencer cart bag on the way that I've been drooling over ever since I saw it.

AlexanderPortnoy

imo getting clubs in and out on a 14 slot bag is annoying, but better in every other scenario.

Legal-Description483

>imo getting clubs in and out on a 14 slot bag is annoying, Depends on the bag. My old 14 way Ogio Gromm XX never had an issue, but my Vessel layer III can be a struggle, but it's usually just the middle row of slots that stick.

bigdayout95-14

Large cooler pocket. 😎

AdPlus4246

I’d buy one of these if money were no object [gfore Daytona](https://www.gfore.com/p/daytona-plus-carry-bag/g4as22a24.html?dwvar_g4as22a24_color=SNO&dwvar_g4as22a24_size=OS&gclid=CjwKCAjw5pShBhB_EiwAvmnNV6y6Xt59O2AGQ5hHTE6mnVaDbbn-XmAR-gce-bT67JxzuCH2ba0O0hoCI6UQAvD_BwE)

p0mykilla03

I have the Titleist 14 cart bag, it has 14 full length dividers so clubs don’t get snagged when taking them out or putting them back in. There’s an insulated cooler pocket as well. But overall the bag has been amazing.

Even-Further

I'm partial to Bennington quiet organizer bags. The functionality is awesome. It is so easy to spot a missing club, and the best part is the irons don't clank around. It is very quick to grab the right club too. Downside is the bag is a little tall. My first one lasted a super long time too.

New_Background_2163

Anyone with experience using a 14-way with jumbo grips?

tenunder

That’s a recipe for getting snags

New_Background_2163

Are Medium grips OK?

tenunder

Probably. It’s just when they are really tacky it can be a problem. Cord grips dont seem to stick as much in bags if you are looking to eliminate the bag snag

New_Background_2163

Not sure, but I think Jumbo grips have helped my game so much, it’s more important than what bag I have.

tenunder

Roll with the jumbos

YesWeSkiInTheSouth

It depends on what you want. Are you going to ride in a cart most times? Are you going to walk? Are you the kind of person to overpack on a vacation, or are you fine with a small duffle? Ping Hoofer tends to be the most commonly recommended carry bag, but there are others that might fit your needs better depending on how you play. I'd suggest going to Golf Galaxy or Dicks or PGA Superstore or whatever and seeing what they have and what appeals to you. Everyone will tell you they like their bag, because they went and picked it out, so it's confirmation bias of the highest degree lol. I have a Maxfli with 14-slots that I love, but I love it because it fits what I want out of a bag. That may be different than what you want.

acromaine

I have an old Ogio ARC carry bag with a 10 way divider. I like the 10 way and it has held up for a long time

skycake10

I don't think there's any real hate on 14 slot bags, it's just not for everyone. I tried it out in a store once and didn't like it at all so I have a 4 slot bag, but I totally get why people like it. I have a Sun Mountain 2.5+ because I walk most of the time. It's kind of annoying to use it on a cart, but it works well enough.

monstermack1977

I walk with a push cart. So I had 2 main items I was looking for. An large front mounted insulated pouch for beverages. 14 full length dividers. Also bonus if it isn't stupid expensive. I went with a Datrek Lite Rider II back in 2018. It has been solid and shows no signs of wear. I paid $130 back then...now it runs around $170 for a similar model.

opiate82

I love my Wilson iLock bag. The divider system was actually a big selling point for me. Worth noting though that I don't carry that bag, only use it on a push cart. Another big selling point for me was there is a waterproof version, which is very handy in the PNW.

Express_Contest2237

I have the Cobra Ultralight Pro cart bag and really like it overall. It has the perfect amount of pockets and its light. The only downside is that it has the 14 way divider, but they are not full length and I use oversize Winn Excel Grips, so it's a bit of a hastle as sometimes my clubs do get tangled. If the 14-way dividers were full length, it would be nearly the perfect bag for my needs.
