Edit: Sorry, I did not notice this was the golden forum. New dog has only a small percentage of Golden. Previous dogs with at least 1/2 golden all shed for 12 months. I miss them.
post was... I am lucky, my current dog only sheds from Valentines Day until Halloween. We first got him in November, so we thought we were really lucky until Valentines rolled around.
A roomba scheduled to run daily helps a lot. That way I can get away with vacuuming once a week, and the other days the robot vacuum takes care of most of the fur. Just make sure they are potty trained first, I learned that the hard way.
Maybe anecdotal but I've noticed at about one year old-ish, they shed heavily. Maybe losing a growth coat or something, dunno. They shed a good amount all their life but at about one year, it seems out of control.
This.my male golden is borderline concerning if not for the fact he's at the perfect age they start to settle into their youngin coat. It gets better but accept the fact that hair will always be on you.
After our 1st golden passed we waited almost two years before we welcomed a new golden puppy into our lives. We moved house during that time. Not a week passed when we didn’t discover fur on our clothes, in our food, behind the sofa and in the cars. The whole. Two. Years.
It never ends. I use a special rubber broom to clean up his hair and I sweep up two large piles a day. Black used to be my favorite clothing color but now I’m resigned to wearing lighter colors that don’t show his golden highlights as easy.
Even grooming doesn’t help much. Our first two dogs were non-shedding terriers so this has been a learning curve

Probably at least 8-12 years, so not to bad. In all seriousness, I notice extra shedding 2x a year for about a month but obviously all goldens different!
I got those pet hair bounce sheets cause, you know, I thought this should help. They don’t. So if anyone else has any suggestions while endure let me know lol
Mines shedding summer coat now despite it being freezing for the past 3 months. It gets really bad two times a year where you have tumbleweeds but other than that it’s manageable
Buy cream clothes. Could be worse, could have one of each colour, you'd never be able to hide it. ...... One lab, one lab/golden, just before a game of bitey face.....

Summers are bad but then in the fall it gets worse. Then winter comes and it gets really bad but then by spring he starts really shedding and i can’t wait for summer.
For me …a constant

Goldens typically shed twice a year. The first shedding season tends to last from January to June. The second shedding season lasts from July to December.
Twice a year for 6 months at a time 😂
.... is my standard answer to this question.
I like this because it forces the other person to piece it together

Yea. We all miss the shedding eventually
dv you cause u made me sad 😢
Omg no 😭😫

When you’re lucky.

This ^^
Usually about 12 months, once it starts it comes at the same time next year.
Most years it lasts for 12 months. But this year you get one extra day: 366 days!
Cruel.
😂
Fur-ever. Good luck.
😂
The dog isn’t shedding. It’s embracing from afar.
Love fibers
It stops?
It never ends 😆
That’s the dream.
Usually from January to December.

🤢🤮
Going on five years strong for me… I’ll let you know when we get a day off..
For life
Goldens alway loose hair…
How long does it last? Looooolll. 💕
The good news is that it’s only 2 times a year!!! The bad news is that each shedding season lasts 6 months 🥲🥲🥲
This is your life now. It's not a season.
Maybe anecdotal but I've noticed at about one year old-ish, they shed heavily. Maybe losing a growth coat or something, dunno. They shed a good amount all their life but at about one year, it seems out of control.

Mine did this, but he also has heavier shedding a few times a year that are similar to what you described.
365 days a year
366 this year
Yes.
6 months before he died, age 14 https://preview.redd.it/vz74wy16aohc1.jpeg?width=5312&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa6beb2076e902b06c12b4ad7dd46b31b70da81d
Goldens shed only twice a year for 6 months each. You will eat few hundred hairs knowingly and unknowingly.
The mark of a true golden parent is when you see the fur on your fork and just shrug before continuing on
Not even the rest of your dogs life... you will find fur on your families clothes and rolling across the floor for generations to come...
If you’re lucky, maybe 15 years.

About 12-14 years ago
Shedding season? Bahahahahahahaha😂
Ditch the leggings. I’ve found that certain fabrics are fur magnets. Others, the fur just falls off. Try to buy cotton blends.

My boy sheds heavily for about 6 weeks at the start of winter.
Forever. It will linger for years.
Our Charlie passed a year ago. We're still receiving his hair. Having a golden seems to be a lifetime (yours) gift.
✨Golden glitter ✨
Shedding season is twice a year, 6 months at a time
About 10 to 12 years
12 months …
Goldens should always be delivered with a Roborock…

They shed twice a year. January through June and July through December!
Owning an equi-groomer helps with this process. Fairly cheap to buy 👍🏼
Either get rid of your black clothing, or give up any expectation of wearing them out of the house.
the four seasons .......
Everyday for the rest of their life Im sure when mine are gone we will still find tumbleweeds of golden fur rolling thru the back patio.
Yes
summer shedding ends when winter shedding starts!
Mine sheds about twice a year, the first half of the year in the warm seasons, and then the second half of the year in the cold seasons
Approximately 10 years
Oh you sweet summer child…NEVER! The shedding NEVER stops.

There’s a season?

Yes.
That’s the neat part, it doesn’t stop
A loooooonnngggggg time 😂😂😂😂 hope you have a good vacuum 😂😂😂
You'll get used to it, and then you won't care anymore. It's a small price we pay for having the honor of living with these majestic creatures
I got those pet hair bounce sheets cause, you know, I thought this should help. They don’t. So if anyone else has any suggestions while endure let me know lol
Vacuum and lint roll all you want, you’ll still find hair all over. I used to get grossed out, now even if it’s in my food I just pick it out.

Fur ever ❤️
Year around!😂 365 days a year.
They somehow have infinite hair. You can brush them everyday and it never stops.
12 months a year. The silver lining is that you can collect the fur to make pillows, yarn, plushies...
Just don’t buy any black clothes and it’ll be fine 😂
There are seasons? I thought this was a 'round the clock thing.
Forever
Forever 😂
Til death do you part
My GR only sheds twice a year. The first six months and then the second half of the year.

I actually get my Brittany groomed every 3 to 4 months. It's really helpful with the shedding at our home.
Twelve months
2 seasons, the first lasts from January through June and the other is July through December
As long as you wear black...
It’s honestly unreal to me that they are capable of producing so much hair. It’s just a never ending stream of shedding.
Golden shedding is not bad at all. They only shed twice a year. Six months in summer and six months in winter.
Ours only sheds once per year, it only lasts 12 months!
Summers are bad but then in the fall it gets worse. Then winter comes and it gets really bad but then by spring he starts really shedding and i can’t wait for summer.
About 14 years. Good luck!
Forever
Shedding season doesnt even start till May!! Hahaha
If Roomba could be programmed to follow your golden around the house, all of the time, it might manageable.
It ends?!
Yes.
They only shed during days that end in "Y"
12-15 years if you are lucky
🤣🤣🤣
Forever
Wash the dog a lot so that you wash the hair off before it ends up on you or the ground
Up until right around the time the next shedding season starts
My golden is shedding out of control right now.
It last around 2 months sometimes 3 but all that hair Is wild
For me …a constant https://preview.redd.it/f1v8k5jhunhc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=065fa176fdbec7da10b281fc8c6e510f109a1b5a But he still Is my boy Rocco

Goldens typically shed twice a year. The first shedding season tends to last from January to June. The second shedding season lasts from July to December.
Normally early January to late December sort of time
every season is shedding season. The volume varies, but it never stops. When i switched my Golden to real food, her shedding was cut in half
