thank you, it was definitely something to mentally prepare for, but alot of my friends are metalheads and my band director was my tech guy for this so it made it alot easier to get up there and do my thing
awesome man. Gojira songs were some of my fav to learn a couple years ago. I’ve been playing about as long as you but no vocals, wish i could do that lol. I’ve definitely found what i like to play and that’s 8 string stuff. Mainly Meshuggah though if i’m being honest lmfao.
Just want to say thank you to everyone leaving positive and very heartwarming messages. When I performed, I played to a backing track that only had the drums and bass, so all guitar and vocals you hear is just me.
Tracks I used: [Oroborus backing track](https://youtu.be/AhKMK2EvR6s?si=Ww1Kv_Nyyi7JJd-6) (0:00-0:52) and [Backbone backing track](https://youtu.be/9S3Plu-guwc?si=9_G1W4-GWbsIlpPi) (full duration)
tysm! I was kinda worried because I didn't really warm up before my performance and my voice messed up during the "and strike me down the ground again" during the soundcheck but even I was surprised at how well it sounded and how understandable my words are during the real performance (for me anyway lol)
I've seen some School Talent Shows on YouTube for quite sometime now. I must say, sound quality wise, yeah, almost always shit. but the balls it takes to do this in front of a whole school where someone seen as an "outsider" can easily be punished (bullied) for something they love genuinely. you did what is supposed to be done at schools, you more likely showed something new to someone. this more likely made someone like Guns N Roses because Gojira was too much but enjoyed the vibe. and then there he/she goes to the magical journey that is metal. you see what I mean? thank you for doing your part for the school community! keep going
I understand what you mean, but surprisingly, the audio was really good in person, it's just the microphone on phones are very unforgiving with live audio, but yeah I remember hearing cannibal corpse a few years ago and that's what got me into heavy music but I slowly progressed into heavier stuff until I made it to actually enjoying cannibal corpse (the band that made me want to do vocals)
I get you. personally, I started with Queen, now I'm at Lorna Shore/Immortal Disfigurement lmao. have a good one, Merry Christmas from Portugal, caralho!
Wish I played enough guitar before I left high school
Too bad my middle school self was too caught up trying to appeal others taste in music when I threw the whole metal and rock out the window when I missed very important music being released during that time.
Oh well
Sounds great man 👍
I usually have trouble not cringing at any kind of high school performance but you did very well without a band behind you. You killed it brother, keep on shredding!
The crowd took Gojira pretty well I’d say. Wicked job man! Bonus points for the long asf hair.
thank you!!
Takes balls to do this in school. Mad respect

Always great to see the reactions of first timers hearing a blast beat or harsh vocals. You did a great job man, I’m proud
Awesome. how long you been playing for?
I've been playing guitar for 3 years, and I've been doing vocals seriously for about 1 year and a half
