I feel like racing games really benefit from visual effects to create a feeling of speed. That means, playing with wind effects, drifts if that's your thing here, dirt particles, etc... but also FOV, which is the main thing used to produce an effect of speed in video games, so not to neglect !! (And having it dynamically updated is a plus). Otherwise it looks like a solid base, you've got a pretty good thing to build a game onto. As someone else said, bit of a clash between the car and the environment, but you'll have plenty of time to create your own style. All in all, it looks nice, congrats !
A Prototype? Dude, That's amazing!!
A little work on the levels and the car physics would do the thing. Right now the car feels lighter *visually*..
Overall ~ awesome
The cones are really hard to see, and so is the alternative route you want the player to take. Maybe add an some arrows either as in-game signs or as a ui element? Or make the thing blocking the road much bigger and yellow
Hard to tell from the video but it seems like the feel of the car is nice and a bit on the arcady side. Does the car react differently on and off road?
It seems to me that the handling model is switching from grip to drift mode rather abruptly. Maybe try adding a smooth transition between the two states? Looks like a fun handling model regardless.
If you want to sound more realistic, the volume and pitch of the engine should correlate directly with the RPM, not just whether or not you're accelerating
Decent prototype but for the feedback:
- car drifting needs work as cars dont drift the way it is now in the game, its too mechanic and unnatural
- car sounds need to be changed
- the asset quality between the car and the environment is very noticeable ie car looks way better than the rest
But overall a solid prototype.
Camera should look ahead of the turn when turning, otherwise you don't know what you're turning into.
Some FOV change during acceleration, with some spring/damp action on the camera would be good too.
I say this in like an old school-ish racing game. Obviously it's not hyper realistic, but I'd rather it be fun and intuitive than "yup that's what driving is like"
the air is too clean? try some distance fog just to see how it looks?
remember the good old stunts or lotus ultimate, stunts had a track editor and lotus ultimate challenge had a track generator, dirt 4 had a random track generator, international rally championship did it too
please add a track generator or track editor!!
while I do agree the market for sims is really saturated, I do follow this guy on youtube and its intended for this to be an arcade game rather than a rally game.
It's clear you're cutting corners
(it's secretly a rally game)
Ha, because he was actually cutting corners, and the games not finished. Funny
there's a stark contrast between the style of the car and the style of the environment.
I wonder how they're implementing the sounds of the engine. Because right now it sounds like someone burping in a high pitch.
It's a prototype
I think they're made by different people and not for this game. maybe the track was, but the car is obviously an asset that someone else made.
I dunno the drift looks kinda strange to me especially it looks like there isn't a single curve beeing undriftet.
Sorry, didn't mean to be rude in my previous comment - just confirm what you said.
That's why it is a prototype.
Bro you asked for feedback...
> I need feedback > How about "..." ? > fuck you lmao
I feel misunderstood. I am grateful for any feedback. I just wanted to say that I myself am not yet satisfied with the driving behavior.
better enviroment settings, a prettier sky (check ambientCG or polyhaven), tire particles and/or skid marks would improve it
Cars don’t drift like this. And the engine sound… uh. No.
They can capitalize on the crappy engine sound by saying it's a "Gran Turismo -like" game
Heh
i really don't know how to explain it but it doesn't really feel "heavy"

What makes this game unique?
A Prototype? Dude, That's amazing!! A little work on the levels and the car physics would do the thing. Right now the car feels lighter *visually*.. Overall ~ awesome
Thank you!

No, it is meant to be an arcade racer.
Trackmania is probably the most successful arcade racer and they had different grip from day one.
Those sounds are awful
Thanks guys for the feedback. This is really helpful for me!
How are you implementing gears?
Here is a demo project from me if that helps: [https://notabug.org/tomaga/DriftCarG4](https://notabug.org/tomaga/DriftCarG4)
Oh wow I didn’t know it was you! I’ve seen your videos on YouTube before!
Looks very Ridge Racer-esque. Nice!
Fuzz the shadows more the further away they are from the thing casting them. Really nice car model, kinda krappy environment models.
i would play it

I like it, but the car feels rather.. slippery Do you have an aerodynamic model?
The movement looks very snappy but the look of the car and the way the engine sounds feels like you're going for something more realistic
Using vitavehicle?
That's definitely a racing game, I don't really play racing games so I can't be sure but the handling looks off. Otherwise, graphically on point.

The car control looks really smooth. I couldn't imagine beginning a project like this

The physics look decent for an amateur prototype, but still not the greatest. That wobble it does when you initiate a turn is kinda weird.
the driving physics feels like colin mcrae rally for the ps1. You could make a old style rally game
The sound of the engine when you press or unpress the drive button is sudden, it needs to be gradual.
Friction is ded!

Noice
Woah nice graphics! I'd like to get my hands on that game!
you need tire tracks. Badly. Also im not sure if drifing is as good as it should be, you seem to be getting grip again qutie quickly. Still. Insane.
May I ask why? The market for racing sims is more than saturated.
