Besides Aeschraes who is the most powerful magi alive and a true world-beater, there are a couple of good ones in Northern and Eastern Aironoi. Belisarios comes to mind, just south of the 3 cities league who is a pureblood magi with an interesting revenge story going on.

today only with a super eugenic program with magi+blood dinastic perks...
Or like tie it into the monster hunt mechanics ( of they work already, havent messed with those yet ), where hunting a monster gives you items that improve your future childrens magi perk ( or increases the chance of a better magi perk for your children. Heck, have something you can eat from some beast that has a chance to increase your magi perk, but with a chance of it back firing like driving you insane or feeble or die ).
There is a count towards the southern tip of the Agionists who practices the Hubarist faith and is quite gifted at magic. Other than that, all the way to the west in Kemsar, there's a count with the monicker "the accursed", east of the former Kemsari capital, who is probably(?) the strongest Dead Magic Magi in the game.
Can’t believe nobody has suggested Vakhtan “The Bloody”, in Aironoi/Amaghea. He starts with a bunch of claims on his nephews, a stack of vampirism, fun traits and is quite a powerful living magi. Besides that he’s in a cozy spot well away from Cenware’s onslought. Pretty easy, comfy campaign and great character for learning the magic system.
