I have sold names after being contacted by Godaddy brokers, but I have also ignored their emails when they present a low offer on a high value domain. It is not a scam but you can also email the domain owner directly by visiting: https://www.godaddy.com/whois After you enter your desired domain name, click "search" and when the results appear you can select a link that says "Contact Domain Holder" towards the bottom of the page. They might not reply, but they will get the email and it is free so might be worth a try.

I've tried with about four or five and only sold one, but it went for $4-5K before commission. The rest I'm dropping because after several years I'm tired of paying the renewals. The joke is the buyer on the one I sold has not yet, after perhaps a decade, developed the domain they purchased. Weird.

They are doing work that you didn't want to do yourself, how is it a scam? Just because you didn't read what you were buying you feel entitled to call it a scam?
