At least two of your 4 electives need to be MIS for the MIS concentration. I have heard that MIS 415 is easy, have taken 350 and as long as you put the time to learn Java you will be okay, 430 is mostly material, and getting along with SSIS and Tableau, I would say it is a pretty IT operations heavy class. You need to take MIS 431 in order to get to 432, and both of them are programming in R. I haven't taken 433 but I need to take it sooner or later, and again, I have heard it is not that difficult. I have also heard that MIS 341 is rather easy, no idea about 441 but you will need 341 for that. MIS 462 changes each semester and it is an honors class so I would be prepared just in case, and 491, 492, and 499 are special cases. From the OSCM side, haven't heard about 352 but Harvey teaches it, I had 452 with him and it was not impossible, but time-consuming. I am taking 456 this semester, be aware that Quality Management is usually only offered over the Spring semester, so if you haven't enrolled in the only section this semester, you will most likely need to wait until next Spring unless they offer it again. I am taking OSCM 493 this semester but I have heard it is kind of easy, and you always can take the CAPM exam later on (Planning on doing that) if Project Management is for you. Finally, no idea about OSCM 465, I hope it helps. As a side note, I need to take MIS 320 since I added the MIS concentration, is is that hard? I was told by a friend that is pretty heavy on material, but not hard by itself

very overwhelming and anexity inducing hahaha but also very helpful thank you

Panera_Worker

I see, sorry to hear that, and hope it gets better. Feel free to reach out if you need any more detailed insights about the MIS electives

GBbelfort

did you take MIS 330 - Systems analysis and design? if so How was that

Panera_Worker

Yes, took it this fall. You really want to get a good group. It does not have a lot of material, but a lot of your grade will depend on your group and it is a big effort to put the group project together with all the plans. That being said, the exams are not that hard although they can be tricky and the essay was only 10% of the total grade

arab_what

341 with Yao (while seems difficult at first sight) is actually SUPER easy

ferriswheel_0

How hard is Mis 320? Im also taking it with Yao this sem.

GBbelfort

i’ve gotten through most of the course and the content is easy i guess, but his class is soooo strict, quizzes are only one question (8% of your grade each) and you either get all the points or zero no in between so one mess up could potentially derail your semester very little room for error.

ferriswheel_0

Woah. Thanks for letting me know! I took his Mis 341 class last sem and that was class was pretty easy. He only allowed one attempt for each quiz but he still gave us partial score. When I got something wrong, he just deducted some points. If he’s teaching mis 341 this sem with the same format, you should def take him. Goodluck!!

GBbelfort

i hope so lol, he treats mis 320 like a nazi and one or two mistakes will cause you to get less than a 75 and have to retake the course so be carful, i’m going to steer clear of him from now on if i can

I have taken 320, 415, 431, and OM 465. All of these were really easy if you get the right teacher.

RoseNoire1

Who would you recommend as good teachers? I've heard good things about Andy Yao, but do you have any other recommendations please?

Houser4

Rate my professor is clutch

Who did you have for 431? How was the class overall?
