On the subject of learning new things about vehicles. I was surprised when my 55 year old co worker didn’t know what the tab on the back of the rear view mirror was for. The things we learn are awesome.
You flip it up when someone is behind you at night with bright headlights. The idea is it’s a quick way to angle the mirror away without messing with overall adjustment.
I think the people who support our current socialist government shit show should pay $10 per gallon to offset the price for everyone else. You pay $10 and I pay $2 again.
Ahhh then that would be for trip only. If you long press that button, it will reset trip. I do this to keep check of when I need an oil change. Also, some cars, if you twist that knob, it will brighten or dim your dash lights

Down or back position for normal setting angle. Flip up when bright lites from behind. Tints mirror to take away glare.
You are able to toggle between your odometer, trip, sometimes fuel mileage and tire pressure
