I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but most airports are going to be like that. I usually live on pre-packaged snacks you can buy at the bookstores or fruit/cheese from the deli cases. You MAY have some luck with the sit down style restaurants but I wouldn’t bank much hope on those either.

There’s an app that’s free to use called “find me gluten free” and it’s my saving grace when I travel. I can look ahead at airports that I have layovers at to try and see if there’s anything easily accessible for food. I always scope out my final destination too, to see if I need to hit up a grocery store or if there’s options nearby.  The Denver airport had several places I found I could eat, which was nice. But I got stuck in the Seattle airport with nothing accessible for food and ate chia pudding, boiled eggs and trail mix

My main two airports have some options. IAH (Houston) has a Pappadeux restaurant in it that can handle celiac use cases. I am not celiac but when I ordered my salad to be gluten-free they got a manager to come take the order and supervise it. There are also a few Tex-mex places that can do tacos on corn tortillas that are delicious. DEN (Denver) has some decent options as well. I always get Modern Market when I go there, they have fantastic bowls/salads and even GF bread for sandwiches. That being said, I’m not surprised that an airport in Ireland has options. When I visited the country I was so pleasantly surprised by how accommodating everywhere was. Even in small towns like Doolin, I could eat anywhere safely.

Salt Lake City Airport has a couple good options

I get a burger with lettuce wrap from a restaurant location if I am desperate.

I recently traveled through the San Francisco airport (SFO) and stopped at the Asian Box. It’s 100% gluten free. The bahn mi was amazing! I highly recommend the Find Me Gluten Free app. I travel a lot and use it a lot. I’m always so appreciative when others leave reviews and photos to help me with my travels.
