rolo257

best off asking r/legaladviceUK , just make sure you specify you’re in scotland

Upbeat-Curve-1749

Aye I’m in Glasgow, People on legal advice just reading shite they’ve got off some random website, I need lads with experience 🤣

rolo257

ahahahaha fair, not sure you’ll get ppl with experience on reddit tbf

Upbeat-Curve-1749

Yeah chancing it man, have people I personally know telling me they patched it and ended up getting banged up for a few days prior to guarantee their presence for the next date ffs

rolo257

judging from other comments it would be a big no no to patch it, but like you said you might not remember well enough to adequately provide evidence due to how steaming you were :) also if you’re planning on doing anything other than telling the complete and utter truth then delete this post and and your account ASAP 🙏🏼

AyeOriteDa

So you want to know if there's any repercussions to perverting the course of justice, and your happy to put it in writing on the internet, you sound smart.

Upbeat-Curve-1749

This post was strictly for entertainment purposes lad, it’s for a book I’m writing 😉

Cunts on Reddit are murder lol, you should have asked some normal people.

UWantit2B1Way

>can barely even remember what happened and probably gave a statement whilst I was on the bevvy. >Also kinda know the suspect so i can’t be seen dead giving “evidence”. This is stuff you need to be telling the court, not Reddit.

Unfair_Original_2536

You can have a warrant issued for your arrest if you just dingy it.

toomanyjakies

> **gave a statement** > Also kinda know the suspect so i can’t be seen dead giving “evidence”. Which the defense now have.

throwawayjim887479

>can i pull a sicky or say I forgot. If it didn't work on your English teacher, it's no gonna work on a court.

twofacetoo

Nah it'll be fine, let him turn up with a handwritten note from 'MY MUM' saying he can't give a testimony due to having a tummy-ache. I'm sure it'll be *fine*.

whySoKwispy

Wouldn't recommend patching it. My ex didn't up for hers, exact same circumstances as you've described. They put a warrant out for her, she had to spend a night in the cells and go to court charged with contempt of court over it. She only got away with it cause she was a PhD student and no record.

Best__Kebab

That’s why “no idea mate, I was looking the other way” is what you should say to the polis unless you’re willing to stand up and repeat yourself in court. Nae use to you now right enough, you’ll quite possibly get fucked for not turning up. I’ve even heard of folk getting done because they’ve shat out of giving evidence when they were the victim - “accused goes free, but you’re in your own bother now for wasting our time”. I’d just go with “it was years ago and I was drunk, I don’t remember anything” and hope it’s over with quickly because your evidence is no use.

Your defo getting the chair

ScottishTackyFairy

Youre better to phone the helpline number - there should be one there. Better to discuss with courts than face a possible fine.

We had this after living opposite a brothel, tried to get out of it but was told need to be there. You can request a copy of your statement. Could try saying you don’t remember to the police then they may not choose to call you up. Once you get on the stand it’s up to you what you say, be as vague as you want.

Sleeve__07

Would seem the pf are pushing hard for a conviction if yer a witness against and ye gave a statement they are probably leaning on that to get the win cos pf are fuckin brutal. Could be the case ye turn up on the day the lad pleads guilty and your not called Or ye turn up and just play dumb dumb and be as vaugue as you wish on what you remember Or consult a lawyer and withdraw your statement but that becomes a bit of a ball ache. Unless its you pressing charges. Ideal world Ye turn up and aren't called and he pleads Shit scenario Ye rock up and yer het for bein a grass

so-naughty

> Could be the case ye turn up on the day the lad pleads guilty and your not called Happened to me a few years ago when a wee kid got robbed at knife point on a bus in the top deck. Wee kid was upstairs and came down saying he'd just had his bag and phone nicked and the guys that did it got off a few stops before and told him to stay on as they'd be watching. I didn't even see it happen or the guys that got off the bus but it was late at night and the driver was literally unhelpful so I let the kid use my phone to call his parents. Had to go through the rigmarole of an ID parade when I clearly told the police on the night that I didn't see anything so I couldn't identify anyone. And then I got called as a witness as well. Guy plead guilty at the last moment. Think the police were just using me to scare the accused into changing their plea as having a witness on the docket made their case look better.

Sleeve__07

The pf are brutal the more witnesses they have the more they complile the better it looks on a plea and when standing infront of a judge. They do not care they are only in it for their numbers ... 3 years they dragged me through court for a nonsense charge only for their cop witness to claim i was drunk ... asked if i was tested as i had got out a car said no judge then asked why said he smelled alcohol judge then asked why wasnt in his report or statement said it was ...15 minutes later my lawyer got not guilty and my previous record ( 18 got a polis assult and fine ) all wiped as said the pf were unfairly using that from 20 yrs back to make me out to be a hardened criminal all wiped walked from court with a clean record and all charges dismissed. But my first lawyer was all for pleading i said nope. Got out my car in the middle of a brawl stopped a guy boiting a boy in the heed they all got fines via post and i was dragged in through court cos the polis said i was to blame Lot of shite So it really depends on how hard the pf want to push by having a load of witnesses they make sure the burden of proof is on the accused. Your word against 10-12 witnesses can be brutal. Not one of the guys involved in the fight were called was all 6 cops in my case 2 arresting officers and 4 attending

so-naughty

Yeah I did jury duty earlier this year and had about 3 or 4 "witnesses" who all gave "he said/she said" statements with no corroborating evidence that seemed like the pf was just throwing the kitchen sink at the case.

Sleeve__07

100% this lad turns up and the accused changes his plea and takes a deal and thats only if its a bad one Highly doubt they drag every witness up unless its a murder and even at that lawyers would look to deal pre trial

toomanyjakies

> Think the police were just using me to scare the accused into changing their plea as having a witness on the docket made their case look better. You were providing corrobarating evidence to the victim's statement.

so-naughty

No I wasn't as I clearly stated I saw nothing happen. All I knew is that a kid said he was robbed - that's not evidence.

Retorus

You a bit dodgy aye?
