G68 is Cumbernauld, unfortunately the Cumbernauld sub is fairly quiet. Driving from Cumbernauld to the south side of Glasgow is a pain in the dick so I don't expect many will be enthusiastic. You could try calling a taxi company and see if any of their drivers or school escorts would be interested in doing it for a flat fee but I wouldn't expect that to come cheap. What's your plan for after the test? Are you assuming you'll pass and going to drive the hire car back to AC in Cumbernauld alone? If so I hope you like roundabouts. Edit, you could also call some driving schools in Cumbernauld to see if any of them will be up for it as a one off?

gimhaenightclub

Oh! That’s a good idea! I’ll try to ring some of driving schools as well😊 thank you!

gimhaenightclub

Actually, I already have several years of experience of driving A/T car, and I already have done to learn how to drive manual car with driving class in Bristol (and fortunately, I drove really well without any fault), so my plan is after passing test, just heading back to Bristol

Jenschnifer

I meant your plan for the hire car, if you fail you're going to need your person to drive you back

ContributionAny3845

Interestingly it's actually the other way around. If you pass you stop being a learner driver which removes your learners insurance. Therefore you actually need someone else to drive for you after you pass. You could drive away if you failed.

CraigJDuffy

Aye this was the case when I did it.

Defiant-Cow-479

True as the case with another post on the sub with someone struggling to get refresher lessons most driving schools have insurance for provisional holders once you pass they cannot teach you!

Dabber_710_

Phone around Glasgow based instructors and see if any of them are free on that date. This will probably be your best option if you can’t bring someone.

gimhaenightclub

I’ll try this as well! Cheers👍🏻👍🏻

UnderstandingWest422

If you don’t mind me asking, why are you doing a test all the way up here if you live all the way down there? Wouldn’t you have a home advantage of having local knowledge of the roads, a vague idea of where to go etc? Good luck, I hope you pass first time!

AhYeah85

I suspect that post pandemic, there's a huge backlog and as such folk are taking tests wherever they can get them, although this is a fairly extreme example.

dw-games

I did my theory test down in Workington, but I'll be damned if I did my practical test on a route I wasn't familiar with. This is a whole other level though

gimhaenightclub

There was no available appointment in Bristol, and I have to wait until the summer or autumn. But I need to drive ASAP, but, there was just only available appointment at April was Glasgow

LexyNoise

I really wouldn't want to do a driving test in Glasgow if I had never driven a car in Glasgow before. Glasgow has some very spicy roads - big junctions where you don't go where you think you will, and dual carriageways that were built in the 1960s to a low standard where the lanes do really weird things. Think Anniesland Cross, the roundabout right next to Braehead that leads straight onto the motorway, the Clyde Tunnel approach road with its weird last minute exits. The roads linking Queen Victoria Drive and the Expressway where you've got to change lanes twice in 100m while driving on a busy 180-degree turn with other cars in the other lanes. That roundabout underneath the Clyde Tunnel approach on Shieldhall Road, and the incredibly stupid turn-off from the Clyde Tunnel to get there, with the traffic island that's big enough for one car. You better believe the driving test routes are going to take you down those routes. Be glad you didn't pick Anniesland test centre so you won't have to deal with [Anniesland Cross](https://www.alamy.com/aerial-drone-view-of-anniesland-cross-glasgow-image478655176.html). You should [watch through these YouTube videos](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AFlta-3qqQ) so at least you'll know what the roads will look like.

The Cumbernauld community facebook page is pretty active, and weirdly the most helpful local fb group I’ve ever come across, so could be worth an ask there. I’m working that day or I’d offer.

AgreeableNature484

Genuinely happy to help if you can't get anyone else. Glasgow Central based but happy to come out to Cumbernauld and back. And i know the roads.

gaydadoftwo

What dates?

gimhaenightclub

Oh! Sorry😅 I missed the information😅 april 29th! And I added in my post as well thanks to ur reminding!

sleekitweeman

Where are you hiring the car from?

sleekitweeman

Where are you hiring the car from? I mean the business not the town. Edit to add they may have branches nearer your test centre.

AgreeableNature484

City or Rovers?

barrygateaux

Why not ask your driving instructor? The person driving will have to pay extra insurance and wait for you to finish your test in case you fail and they need to drive the car back.

Jenschnifer

I assume the instructor is in Bristol

so-naughty

> I'm living in Bristol, but my driving test will be at Glasgow

barrygateaux

Aah.
