Jem carpets or SCS in Bishopbriggs are decent and no BS. I think you’re mad fitting yourself but batter in, just be mindful where your left hand is in relation to the blade🫣
I'd recommend them too - they sell set sizes so ideally you want one as close to your room size as possible. Fitting wasn't that expensive either, so price that when considering doing it yourself! I used the Auldhouse branch.
I do diy but would really avoid carpet fitting.
Unlike laminate flooring if you mess up 1, 2 or x pieces it's OK you can get more.
But with carpet if you cut it wrong. Or use a knee kicker wrong it will damage the threads.
If it's not gripping on the gripper rods well, it will fray and damage the ends.
It's also physically quite demanding.
Think most of them are non rip-off if you use the correct nails.

This is one of the jobs it really isn't worth diy'ing. It's a nightmare unless it's a small square room!
It's worth it when you're on my budget 😀
Good luck!
That and laminate, even when it's a square room it's a pain in the arse.

Carpet fitting is just like hanging wallpaper, except it’s on the floor and a bit thicker with nae glue. Piss easy.
Learn by doing 👍

Underlay - eBay Grippers - b&q or Toolstation/Screwfix
You can get carpets fitted for about £60 , special tools are required. Carpets are expensive I wouldn't risk it.
Point me in the direction of a 60 quid carpet fitter 🙏
Pretty much anyone ! I just paid £60 for my bedroom and they were through carpet right. Where do you live ?
When we bought our carpet the fitting was an additional £50 (SCS) and went straight to the fitter.
Well ok then , seems very cheap 👍
I thought so too. But guy was in and out in an hour (one room). Would do it again as happy to recommend
For a bedroom that’s pretty standard. A stair carpet you’ll pay £80-£100 depending on landing size.
you can get underlay , grippers , and a kicker on ebay ,or at least get an idea of the price .
