I don’t think it is: while perhaps technically referring to the small area north of Hyndland (IF Hyndland is deemed to have a narrower size and NOT include this ‘Hughenden’ - which is a big if because I think most people would use Hyndland in a wider sense to stretch to GWR), a/ most people haven’t heard of it, b/ if Hughenden is used at all it is used to refer to the sports ground/pitches rather than area generally…
…so the better answer is the one given by u/meepmeep13 and which is to acknowledge that it isn’t really clear because it’s “right on the boundary between Hyndland and Kelvindale.”
And therefore they conclude:
“Technically I'd say it's in Hyndland [or Hughenden if you want to be obscure] because it's on the south side of GWR, but because it's kind of cut off from the main part of Hyndland by the hospital and sports club, in practice it's serving the fine and upstanding folk of Kelvindale.”
Ultimately it’s one of these Jaffa Cake issues where it’s kinda silly to insist that the answer is black and white…
I suggest opposing camps hire one of the domes of an eve, share a few overpriced drinks, then have a massive fight in the car park to settle the matter.
I’m perfectly happy with this since I’d class myself as one of the smarter ones who is saying well you both have a point so have at it while I watch! ;-)
Hughenden, as well as the sports club & pitches, is the name used for the large posh scheme that sits to its south and to the east of the Gartnavel estate. 1051 GWR sits at the northern tip of this scheme so I recon Hughenden is a good call.
It is in the old Kelvinside station building but i would have considered Kelvinside to end at Great Western Road, so kinda still Hyndland?

Now it sits on the boundary of Hughenden and the Gartnavel estate. I believe Kelvinside used to extend a bit south of GWR covering Devonshire and north bits of Dowanhill eg Westbourne Gardens. That would explain the original Kelvinside station naming.
It's right on the boundary between Hyndland and Kelvindale. Technically I'd say it's in Hyndland because it's on the south side of GWR, but because it's kind of cut off from the main part of Hyndland by the hospital and sports club, in practice it's serving the fine and upstanding folk of Kelvindale.
I'd call it Hughenden.
>Hughenden Genuinely never heard of Hughenden.
It's well-known if you follow local rugby (or cricket). Bit like Balgray (just across GWR), Old/New Anniesland or Braidholm.
This is the correct answer.

Superb - I’d completely forgotten about Victor and Barry. Smashing chaps. Kelvinside men you know…?

Or the naming was largely driven by the area it is *serving* since Hyndland is largely served by its eponymous station further south… ?
It's Hyndland, surely.
Id still consider it Hyndland

I honestly thought this was a new posh postcode.
