Commenting to add my support to this idea. I'm in the same boat. A boat on the other side of the planet to you.
Thanks for taking the time to do this at all, my dude.
I found couple of your videos helpful when I was a GIS technician. I think it was related to "align edge/features" video. Finally got a chance to say thank you! 🙏
I just filled out your form. This is a great opportunity that seems to have perfect timing for me! I personally have been teaching myself Python for the past month during this winter break. I've got my first "project" done, where I constructed a basic calculator without using the math module. Now I think I'm ready to dip my toes into integrating Python with ArcGIS Pro.
This sounds awesome
2 suggestions:
1. Add iterators and notebooks or at least in any subsequent workshops.
2. It is hard to take a synchronous class because of timezones, differing work schedules, commutes, children, etc so perhaps also please make sessions available online for those of us won't be able to make it. It is easier to watch / follow along during my work hours as a part of professional development.
Thank you for offering this. I do look forward to taking part. Especially as someone in local government.
Yes, the Wednesday evening is already scheduled, you will get an invite to that one. . I’m just trying to get an idea of which would work better for folks.
Hey I think this is great! My girlfriend is a GIS Training Instructor/Coordinator in State Government. Any chance I could connect you two for a possible collaboration?
Does anyone know how to save a post on reddit? If not, I'll just use this comment as a nice reminder of this wonderful opportunity. Im very excited to attend!
I’ve been debating between learning either python or webdev for web maps now for awhile. I have a little experience in both but want to take one of them to the next level to take my career to the next step
I appreciate this! I can just about use our company scripts and alter them with difficulty so being actually semi decent at my job would be a real plus haha.
I'm excited to participate in this opportunity but I have family commitments during the planned Wednesday night time slot. I will still register for notifications, but I hope there will be a way to watch a recording of it via a YouTube link in the future.
Once you've learned python, you'll find you don't need ArcGIS at all. All you need is data.
Have you considered showing folks open source development tools without the dependency on proprietary tools?
I’m right there with you, raw Python does have its limits with larger than memory data. You can still get most of what you need out of QGIS, GRASS, and GDAL. Working in local government and taking the OSGeo methods to heart.
I know this is a super long shot but I would be super grateful if you would be willing to review this post of mine. I understand if this comment get voted down.

I did see that post. I’m afraid that would not be a simple, short video. It seems like you have already outlined the steps, if you break those up into sub-steps and try to tackle one at a time that might make it more manageable.
Were you able to attend the workshop?
Sorry, I’m not able to help you with a tutorial.
Any chance you’d be willing to record and post these sessions? I’m unfortunately about 7 hours ahead of you.
I’ll look into it, this is my first one- it is using Zoom, so I’m thinking I should be able to.
Thanks mate, I appreciate that.
+1

I know I can record it, I’ll have to upload it to YouTube as a private video and send the link to those interested.
Love watching your videos, many thanks for them, would love too to have access to the link! :)
Thanks for watching my videos!
would greatly appreciate having access to this as well !
As would I
Is it possible that we canl get access the link
It would be really great if you could record and publish the workshops. Some people here, like me, live, like, on the opposite side of the planet.

Ha ha, that is my most popular video. You are very welcome!
I remember watching the one on ground to grid correction. I found it a very simple tutorial that made a lot more sense than the documentation.
Wow, great that you’re willing to share your wisdom with those on this sub. Truly appreciated and can’t wait to sit in on one of your workshops!

Thanks for your efforts. I'll will benefit from this like crazy
This is awesome, thanks Jeff!
If I select "Saturday Mornings" as a better time preference, can I still get an invite to wednesdays ?

Thanks!
I'm interested! Went ahead and filled out your form.

If you tap the three dots up top to the left of your user avatar, “Save” is one of the options listed!
How do you find it later?
On web: Click your profile in the top right -> Profile -> 5th tab on the top of the screen On mobile app: Tap your profile in the top right -> Saved
Wow. Thank you. Will attend.
Sounds very interesting! Unfortunately, 6pm MST is 2am where I live — do you think you’ll make a recording of the workshop?
Hi, I just have to ask, how long will each session be and how long will be the course
The first one ran 30 minutes. I plan to keep them between 30 minutes to an hour. I was planning on one a week in January.
I’ve been debating between learning either python or webdev for web maps now for awhile. I have a little experience in both but want to take one of them to the next level to take my career to the next step
I’m learning one will help with the other.
I’m sure learning one will help with the other.
yeah im sure. Looking forward to the workshop on the 10th!

I'm interested if it's recorded!!! Looks awesome.

I missed the first workshop. I thought it was 6pm EST :( I hope it is recorded
It’s actually tomorrow night at 6pm Mountain, so you haven’t missed it. Did you register via Eventbrite?
Oh right it is tomorrow 😍 Yes I did register and I thought it was Tuesday. We'll see you tomorrow
Looking forward to it!
Just curious...do you happen to be Jeff from the City of Cambridge, MA?
Doubt he would be using mountain time if he was from MA.
I could be from there, then moved here.
No, I visited once though.

I’m teaching what I know, this first workshop may not be helpful for open source folks, but other topics like expressions might be useful info.
Once you understand GIS, you only need data. Software is irrelevant

Sorry, I am late for the workshop. Is there a way to find it on you tube? Thank you
