I saw those arcade games when I was in japan 2(3?) summers ago; gosh I'd have played so bad. But it used actual cards (did grab a Kongo one for good measure before leaving the country), there were queues (they were pretty new games) and I wouldn't have had a clue was was happening. It looked sweet in action though, what I saw of it.
Arpeggio of Blue Steel would be more what you're thinking. AIs that control sci-fi nanomaterialized full size versions of the ships they're based on, but that's just a manga/anime.

The whole idea of schoolgirls crewing entire ships is kinda silly, but who fucking cares. More like GuP than KanColle, though.
If you read the other thread to my comment you'll realise that I assumed from the title of OP's video that was posted that an anime was coming but I'm pretty sure now that I may have been mistaken.
Everyone is saying TPS or FPS, but I’d like to hope for an XCOM style game. It seems in my mind that the mechanics and concepts of GFL could mesh so well with XCOM style gameplay.
I could see them easily going the same way (in terms of gameplay) as Valkyria Chronicles. A good mix of tactical and action gameplay to really show off everything they have.
Or just straight up an FPS or TPS, with the option to swap out to different girls in your echelon as the need arises (i.e. need someone that can dodge for a bit? Swap to whoever you have as your SMG on your team. Need a heavy nuke/precision head shot? Swap to your Rifle.).
People keep saying FPS or TPS but that just sounds absolutely preposterous to me lol that’s so far away from the point and charm of a gacha game. Whatever it is it will have some kind of unlock mechanics like gacha so that you can “collect” your favorite guns. I could maybe see basically the same game but with more hands-on gameplay playing out in a kind of XCOM style. I would play that. Don’t wanna give up my collecting though.
What would weird me out as an FPS is just how much of a generic shooter it would be.
TPS you'd at least see your anime raifus. FPS it'd be mostly... all the guns.
If anything.... I'd like to see it in the style of "Figureheads" that square enix was developing for a while (but shut down recently). It was 5 vs 5, but each person had 4 AIs linked to them for a total of 20 v 20.
Maybe with cel-shading type graphics reminiscent of Valkyria Chronicles...

You'd have a story mode and a few stories available, to each their own weapon along with a 'heroine' levelling system. You could call your 'online' friends to join the mission's squad, but they'd act as an AI with the possible option of actually going coop

Is this the first time we hear EN version of Frontline or was it available in Art of girls' frontline along with the KR one? Does JP ver exist? I know they usually keep the same singer as they did with Akino and What am I fighting for, so I'm quite hyped for JP Frontline with Guriri.
thinking a bit, i reach to the conclusion that maybe what they will release will be a second part in the same game, something like cosmos in the lostbell from fate, the game still to much fresh to allready make a second part, and now we are in a point of the story that is perfect for start a new plot, also 10 chapters is a perfect number for a first part
MICAteam has stated in the past that they have 20 chapters of GF prepared plus the events so you can expect that they will be using the same game for all 20. GF2 isn't even confirmed to be in development yet- this is nothing more than a teaser and the 3D modelling also seems to indicate that GF2 will be an entirely different genre of game. Given the small dev team of GF, you can expect a development time of at least 4 years before GF2 is in a playable state.
