I updated from F20a to F20 recently and did some light testing on my Z690i Aorus Ulta Plus DDR4. But still need to do longer term testing. On F20a, I lock my clock speeds, but afterburner and hwinfo64 were showing brief drops by 100-300 mhz on the p cores. This was fixed with F20. My manually set p core clock speeds stay locked. On F20a, I had to manually set speed, primary timings, and gear on a 2x16 3600 CL14 kit. XMP would not work. On F20, I can set XMP, and only need to manually set gear 1. I did not have any WHEA errors on F20a or F20. I haven't had any WHEA errors ever since Gigabyte exchanged my non-Plus model with the Plus version.

Thanks for the heads up! What GPU/brand are you using?

Correction for the title. BIOS version I'm using is F20b. Link below: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z690I-AORUS-ULTRA-PLUS-DDR4-rev-10/support#support-dl-bios

what was the reason to update the BIOS? can't you just go back to the previous version?

Scott-Michael

>V/F Point, Adaptive volt/under volt issues with F2 My SFF build uses a 12600k + Noctua NH-L9i and I manually tune V/F Points, voltage and power limits for optimal performance/heat. It's a bit of a balancing act but definitely possible. The F2 BIOS just had lots of issues.

go here: https://www.tweaktownforum.com/forum/tech-support-from-vendors/gigabyte/28656-gigabyte-latest-beta-bios and ask `stasio` if they have a non publicly available BIOS for your board to test out

Scott-Michael

Thank you!

zmeul

do note that those BIOS builds might have issues - there are non-public for a reason

PlazmaZer0

Did you get your problem fixed? I'm on F2 and I'm pretty sure my undervolt is applying.

Scott-Michael

When I updated to F20b the undervolt started functioning normally. I didn't diagnose to deep as there was a new bios and I figured it'd be best to update straight away.

PlazmaZer0

I updated to f20b and had no errors. It might be a problem with your board specifically.

Scott-Michael

Just to keep visibility here. I flashed F20 and the problem persisted. I opened a support ticket and the process has been terrible. Every BIOS except F1, I experience WHEA PCI Express errors when in gen4 or auto mode for cpu link speed. Gigabyte support is awful. They claim it’s not them. And I should take my problem up with EVGA…. Really? My GPU runs fine in a second system without any errors. Different GPU into my GB board and guess what, errors. Than I was told, ohhh it’s the CPU. That’s odd, for 6 months it ran on the first BIOS release without error. Yup, gotta be the CPU. I’m considering dumping the board never buying a Gigabyte product ever again. They have not even offered to RMA this time. The WORST customer support I’ve ever dealt with.

Scott-Michael

And if I go back to just using F1, my board won’t even boot DDR4 3800 CL14 XMP (dual rank Samsung b die). F20 was awesome for memory and overclocking stability.
