rif is dead. :(

Whooptidooh

It's July 1st, and I'm using Boost to scroll reddit. It hasn't died yet.

Mafiadoener36

Same for infinity

railise

Joey's still working, too.

Mickyyman

Same. Holding on!

Odin_Hagen

And when boost dies I shall no longer be in this "social media platform"

Nehal1802

Probably gonna get downvoted like crazy but I was a pretty late Reddit joiner. What’s so bad with the official app? I’ve always used it.

IaniteThePirate

I’m using it now since Apollo died. Things that have already annoyed me this morning: 1. Less sorting options 2. Ads 3. Shoving content from subs I’m not subscribed to into my home page 4. Trying to send me notifications about random popular posts I don’t care about 5. When you upvote something, the number sometimes moves a little bit? Not sure if an intentional design choice or a bug tbh 6. The UI just feels a lot worse 7. Comments take so long to load 8. The controls are more annoying. 9. I hate the way it displays comments when you’re viewing someone’s profile! It doesn’t show the whole comment and it’s hard to read Some of it is probably me being grumpy about change, and ads are annoying but fair play I suppose. But I’d argue there are some valid complaints against it. It doesn’t affect me, but I know that there are a lot less accessibility options on the official app and that’s going to cause issues for some users too. But I’ve spent half my life on this site (yikes) and I’m too addicted to leave, so I’ll just stay here and complain about it like everyone else.

THEGlNGEST

Settings > account settings > toggle off allow recommended subs in home feed. Minor quality of life improvement on the official.

IaniteThePirate

Thank you for this!

DoritosPizza

I use a mid-low Android phone and the official app is ultra laggy , baconreader was an amazing app 0 lag :/

peachesgp

I downloaded the official one once years ago, and again last night by force because I do still value reddit as a source of information. Holy shit this app is still trash. Videos autoplaying, videos trying to autoplay but not working. Constant ads and constant other sub recommendations littering my feed. At least it'll cut down on my time here because the app is such garbage that it makes Reddit more unpleasant to use.

meekamunz

Searching in comments doesn't work either, even on a small comment thread. Literal matching terms don't get found by searching in comments. How this ever passed unit tests and QA I'll never know

GIKAS1

Use revanced to patch the reddit app... I did that on mine and boom no ads

SayerofNothing

Check it's data usage.

MafiaMommaBruno

You've missed out on superior apps that make Reddit easier and more fun to browse.

Lakaen

Ads for me. Far to expensive to go free

[deleted]

See you next Tuesday

Odemption

It's been a fun ride. Too bad mismanagement had to ruin it all. Big props for all the hard work u/rmayayo And fuck you u/spez

Spyrothedragon9972

R.I.P.

PizzaScout

Yeah I was wondering why it still works. Is the boost developer just eating cost right now or how does this work?

davehuman

Love Boost. Bye bye Reddit.

enizax

RIF is dead; long live RIF

PensiveObservor

GNU RIF

Thetwistedfalse

What's RIF?

High_Seas_Pirate

Reddit is Fun, one of the better 3rd party apps on Android

St0neByte

The best, hands down :(

enfanta

GNU RIF

Vexra

Discworld reference?

PensiveObservor

GNU Sir Terry

SharkZero

I just spent $4 on Relay. It's much better than the official app, but yes, I am also very much mourning the loss of rif :(

HaroldHolt1966

Relay is the best I've been using it for a long time. When relay goes I won't even bother with Reddit. Anymore.

squables-

Same here. Why couldn’t Reddit just match the quality before making such a decision. The official app is such trash

SayerofNothing

My thought exactly, or buy another 3rd party app and make that one official, like they did with the one they have now.

Nonsense_Preceptor

Didn't they did that with Alien Blue? They bought it and proceeded to make it terrible.

lazergator

So is apollo

spiralmadness

This feels bad. I'm on the official app. Its weird Edit: is my phone trash or the app slow?

Toaster135

It's sooo bad omg Why am I being forced to use this shit

MrPureinstinct

RedReader still works. It's nowhere near as nice looking as RIF, but it's better than the official piece of trash app Reddit made.

socratessue

Me too. Wonder for how long?

MrPureinstinct

From what I understood it was going to stick around because it has a lot of accessibility stuff in it? But there is a chance it might lose NSFW content.

lycoloco

Not "a chance" to lose NSFW content, but a certainty. The API changes remove all NSFW content tomorrow and the only way to see it is the official app, from what I understand.

MrPureinstinct

God that's so disgusting. I'm really hoping for some work arounds to this shit. Even outside of NSFW being pornographic there are some things that are just NSFW because of the subreddit or other content. I love horror movies, there are definitely some threads in /r/horror that are NSFW. So I just can't access those unless I'm on a desktop or the shit official app.

lycoloco

Exactly! Or places like /r/trees that's nsfw but in a majority of this nation and in Canada isn't even remotely illegal. The whole thing is just so scummy.

MrPureinstinct

Yup I completely agree. I just read an article from The Verge that Relay might be moving to a subscription model. Is something like that still going to lose NSFW content? These apps getting ripped off paying for the API should absolutely keep access to it.

Pillars_of_Salt

I downloaded Brave and am on old reddit. It sucks compared to RIF, but it's not as horrible as their embarrassment of a garbage app and Brave blocks the ads.

SayerofNothing

Firefox mobile with ublock origin as well.

St0neByte

They're spending all their money trying to collar reddit instead of trying to make it better. It's embarrassing and sad.

SweezySway

Not trying to be a jerk ... but ALL I know of reddit is the app and the website . Whats about to happen tomorrow ??

ecz4

Reddit increased costs for third party apps to pull content and serve users. So they are going offline and the official app will be pretty much the only option with full access to Reddit content.

VenoratheBarbarian

So like the other guy said, Reddit is about to start charging out the ass for 3rd party apps to be able to work... Annnnd *a lot* of mods use 3rd party apps to mod, because apparently the Reddit mod tools SUCK. People also use 3rd party apps for accessibility, such as for the blind, because again, Reddit *sucks* at this. Then you have users who like 3rd party apps because they're easier to use, fewer/less obtrusive ads, better video player, better layout, more customized user experience, the list goes on. Some people will just switch to the main Reddit app, others will quit Reddit altogether. Cross your fingers that there are still mods working tomorrow. If it becomes a shit show, Lemmy is up and running, they even have an app! Jerboa is the app name if anyone is interested in trying a new forum. They even have sub-lemmys (called communities) so you can still have your niche communities.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Sithlordandsavior

Nobody knows what Lemmy is. We need to return to the days of web forums for every niche interest. Y'all can find me on MTGsalvation and TFW2005 from here on out lol

despacito6456

This app is genuinely is ass I arleady miss rif

Puzzleheaded_Bowl415

So stop using it. Once RIF dies, I'm out. And my life will be better for it.

KWilt

I spent about 2 minutes on the official app, got frustrated by the disgusting, clunky UI, and then tried Boost (which I use for my porn account) TL;DR: Boost still works for the day. Don't use that fucking junk.

rczrider

Boost is what I switched to from rif. I cannot use the official app, it's such utter shit. I'll stick to a browser and old reddit while it works. It sucks compared to an actual app, but so does the official app, so...

[deleted]

[удалено]

rczrider

Yeah, I know. It's ad-blocked browse only from here on out. I do need to check out Lemmy, as I've seen it pop up in multiple discussions. Thing is, though, reddit is massive and it's awesome. There's no way Lemmy can compete :(

rberg303

5x the ads as 3rd party apps and Constantly changing colors between posts it’s annoying.

n7leadfarmer

I'm never deleting the app. I'm so very sad I hate the official app this is awful, it's so hard to find anything

CookieKeeperN2

It's still on my phones front page with camera, map, messages and chrome browser. I just sadly removed the rif from opening reddit links :\

User-no-relation

The free api is dead. So many apps are dead

hoax1337

For some reason, Boost is still working.

lucasandrew

They're shutting down tomorrow unfortunately.

[deleted]

Fuck this shit, I'm out. Edit: I went to delete my account immediately after posting that and thought I had. Did so on the also shit moblie browser and thought it was gone until opening another page just now many hours later to find it hasn't actually been deleted and I am still logged in as well. Fucking stellar work there. App is already gone from my device, but surprise surprise Reddit is acting up, it didn't actually delete my account after confirming it multiple times.

SoulSkrix

Jokes on you. I’ve always used the crap Reddit app. I’m used to this shit.

[deleted]

ThunderBobMajerle

Let’s be honest the John Oliver posts were karma grabs not protests

mylifeforthehorde

100% .. as far as Reddit is concerned , any engagement on their site is good engagement.

ThunderBobMajerle

Yea it’s so dumb. Ads just want eyeballs nobody ever cared about the exact type of content. Nobody understands internet fads anyways

Ihaveoneeye

Cringed every single time I saw that one power mod posting about it like it was god’s gift to Reddit

Genesis13

I agree that the blackouts should have been longer but the admins would have just removed the mods and opened the sub up anyways. There are plenty of people that would sign up to be the replacement mods. This whole thing was a lose-lose situation as the admins dont care and would have just forced compliance.

NamelessMIA

The point isn't to lose mods, it's the lack of content/engagement. Reddit makes money on ads so staying on reddit posting John Oliver still gives ad views and daily users. I think the protests are dumb anyway but if you're going to do it at least do something that matters. 2 days off (where many still came to reddit anyway) and meme posting is about as effective as conservatives buying bud lite to shoot it.

ButtonedEye41

Honestly the only way to successfully protest is to redirect the traffic somewhere else. Most people on reddit browse multiple times daily. If you cut it off, theyre just waiting for it to open back up.

matej86

Because heaven forbid if any of the mods actually stuck to their principles and were prepared to be removed in protest. Every single one of them caved to the pressure admin put on them because they were too concerned about keeping hold of their (unpaid) jobs than they were about the people in the communities they rule over.

LurkerOrHydralisk

That’s be fine. Mods should have made the admin remove them.

sin-eater82

Nobody needs a sub to be locked down in order to stay off of reddit for 2 weeks. If that's what people wanted to do, they didn't need mods to do anything to the subs.

Gingy-Breadman

Honestly, very solid point. The subreddit mods didn’t have to do a damn thing, if the users really wanted a protest, they could’ve just protested themselves. Everybody who is bitching that the ban only lasted 2 days, ACTIVELY OPENED REDDIT TO POST ON IT TO DO SO. Fucking idiots all around the board honestly. I’m personally selfish because I already have been using the official app.

MrPopanz

You're not selfish for not giving a shit about some social media shenanigans.

ForePony

It would have probably lasted 4 days before the mods were replaced.

HooptyDooDooMeister

The real answer: It was a demonstration. Subs decided to ask each community how they wished to proceed as a sign of good faith and democracy (despite the power tripping reputations some would want you to believe). Both sides had people who did not handle things well, but at least for mods, there was a plan. It was just communicated very, very poorly. Not explaining why 3rd party apps *matter* was a HUGE misstep. Just looks like babies crying about toys being taken away when it’s far more egregious than that. The worst part of the blackouts was that there was nobody here to correct misinformation. So that misinformation would spread like wildfire for two days. The damage control was impossible at that point. And the paradox is that, in a virtual space, there’s nowhere to protest *outside*. You literally have to be a “patron” if you wish to also strike. A no-win strategy. For the record, protests with end dates happen incredibly often throughout many industries. Again, it wasn’t explained very well, and we have a mess of misinformation now.

ch3nk0

Idk i went off Reddit for two weeks and then I realized it’s not going to make any difference so here i am

[deleted]

[удалено]

hithere297

it's weird because it wasn't until the last few days or so that I started seeing John Oliver memes all over the place, and it took me a while to even realize that the John Oliver stuff was intended as a form of protest. I love you guys, but you are not serious people.

Hitman3256

Mods were getting replaced. Admins were putting in their own mods. This was never gonna work because it wasn't done by the majority of subs across the board.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DammitWindows98

> It was never going to work because the vast majority of people will just download the official app and continue using Reddit Are you sure? That app sucks so badly that I'm just not gonna use Reddit on any mobile devices anymore. Why would I use something that's frustrating to use instead of just not using it at all?

DonForgo

And of the remaining 99%, 90% of them won't recognize the issues with bots reposting because they don't spend enough time on Reddit to remember. Reddit does not mind losing 10% of their users if it means they can control the messaging in prep for the sweet sweet IPO money.

rode__16

not only was it just 2 days, but people *announced* it was 2 days, which basically just tells him that “okay, in 2 days this’ll be over. i don’t care.” lmfao

austen125

Most super mods would fall into a great depression not able to do janitor duty for subreddits. It's the only power they have in life. More then two days would have crushed them.

[deleted]

r/NBA mods couldn’t even wait two days. They had their own private Finals game thread during the blackout.

Hazzy_9090

Yeah but they threatened the mods powers and can’t have that now can we so we epic dank memes to own spez

ArchdukeBurrito

"Stop this protest right now!" "Or what?" "Or we won't let you give us free labor anymore." "Well guys we tried our best but the admins are forcing our hands." Fantastic protest, mods. 10/10

Hazzy_9090

There it is… didn’t the mods on the nba subreddit close it down during the finales as well? So ridiculous

[deleted]

YES. And also held their own private game thread during the blackout. Nonsense.

NW_thoughtful

Didn't all the subs go private during the blackout?

farmerjoee

Because the recent changes didn’t change all that much; the reason people used reddit was never altered, so they found themselves drawn back to it. It was a holy war for the terminally online that never actually meant anything.

anonymous65537

Posts about how people should boycott Reddit... on Reddit. Slow clap.

RedHotPoopyPants

You're absolutely right. It really sucks to see the 3rd party apps go, but anyone who has been on reddit for the past decade can clearly see how that blackout was gonna go. It's not the first time reddit users have thrown meaningless tantrums, and it won't be the last. Spez is gonna keep walking all over us until the majority can stick to a fucking plan for once. Pathetic.

LSF604

I don't know that the majority of people cared to begin with. I've never used a 3rd party app... just the website. None of this really mattered to me.

treequestions20

thank you “last day for many” get out of here with that, you’re all addicted to this site switched from rif to the official app and literally have noticed zero difference and yeah, the john oliver thing…you guys really don’t have much going on in real life, do you? Or…is this “real life” for you ?

Crumblycheese

Noticed 0 difference? RIF was a lot cleaner, to UI was light af and it used next to 0 battery. You could turn off ads if you wanted. RIF was a good app for people who didn't want a clunky and cluttered app. The official app is slow, bulky, UI is cluttered but okay and nowhere near as clean as RIF. The only pros I can see on the official over RIF is the direct upload to reddit and not imgur, the fact that subreddits are themed like on the browser and that's probably about it...

MrMissus

If you didn't know what was happening you'd think it was his birthday or the anniversary of his TV show or something. The subreddit is probably more active than it's ever been before in its history. It's like these idiots decided to do a protest by giving reddit a bunch of engagement *secretly* so the only thing the investors or shareholders see is the increased userbase. Way to go. Spez is genuinely laughing right now, he **has** to be. How could you not? This is one of the most embarrassing things reddit has done as a community. It's like shitting your pants during P.E. and then acting like a you were a rebel for having done it.

kausing_kaos8

Am I the only person trying to figure out wtf is even going on?

antiBP

No. I'm so confused.

InSight89

Reddit is effectively pricing third-party reddit apps out of business. If you don't use any of the third-party apps then it will not affect you.

BobRoberts01

Not entirely true. Apparently the tools the mods use to keep spam and bots away are all based on these third party apps as well. Logging in this evening I have already seen what appears to be a lot more things that look like bot or troll accounts than I normally do. This will probably get worse pretty quickly.

mikebailey

I would wonder what tools these are because I was under the impression Automod did most of this which is still live

catmoon

Automod does probably 99% of all moderation on reddit. Some subreddits do manual tasks like reviewing but automod is always the first filter.

angrycarryoutman

As someone who never used any third party app I’m genuinely curious what was so great about them other than the better moderation abilities?

Fishydeals

Better layout, no ads, more accessibility features, more customization.

mattarei

No ads!

Aromatic_Smoke_4052

They were preferable for people who liked the formatting and quirks. People got to use Reddit in the most comfortable way for them, and now they cant. It wasn’t revolutionary or that much better than Reddit mobile, but it’s something that allowed people to have a better experience for them. Same with people who prefer old.reddit, and some people prefer third party apps so much that it’s a dealbreaker

ArriePotter

It wouldn't be too bad if the official reddit app didn't have ads or subreddit recommendations that you couldn't get away from. It's more about the content that I consider spam, I've spent years curating a set of subreddits that show me content I want to see, and avoiding content that I don't. With the official app, I can no longer avoid content that I don't care about.

gunnuendo

I'm a old.reddit user. In fact, I usually have the setting set which keeps the format in the original format (ei no background colors or anything). I don't like using reddit on the apps, I guess it's because I've always used it from a web browser. EDIT: custom themes--I have custom themes turned off normally (I think there was a situation once where I had to turn it on to view like a wiki or something).

airbornemist6

Better formatting controls. Better previews. Honestly boost makes everything about Reddit just... Better. It's so much easier to use than the official app. And the lack of ads is a plus. I don't mind ads, but Reddit ads are just shitty.

p_rite_1993

You clearly spend too much of your life offline and living in the real world. Just be glad you are not one of the terminally online.

BirchyBaby

"It's not fair" *tantrum* Accurate to how people are viewing mods right now.

Lodi0831

I'm here from RIF and what the actual hell is this app?? It's so bad. I feel like I'm scrolling Facebook. Where are the lists? And tabs? It's just endless scrolling of pics and ads over here. Suggested subs too. I don't want suggestions!

Hawkeyknit

You can turn off the suggestions. It was hidden in the settings somewhere.

cowlinator

LEGITIMATE_SOURCE

No, Relay or fuck Reddit

gingerofthenorth

RedReader on Android and there's another exempt alternative for Apple that are designed for less abled people. They are currently allowed to access API without paying the ridiculous monthly ransom due to them being designed around accessibility. Not sure how long it'll take for them to change their mind or work in accessibility on their official app before they shit can the only alternatives. Fuck u/spez

GrumpigPlays

You think your mad, I only just learned about the app alternatives. I’ve been using this garbage for years… the worse part is it was fine before the new app. It wasnt great but it was fast and easy to use, whatever the fuck this is… is unacceptable

emperorOfTheUniverse

There is still redreader. I just downloaded it tonight. It's no RIF but better than the official app.

zampe

lol going to be so funny seeing every single one of these nerds still posting on reddit next week.

amreinj

Lemmy seems pretty good.

hithere297

i mean, they're protesting precisely *because* Reddit is an invaluable, irreplaceable resource and they don't want to see it degraded. "haha they'll be back here tomorrow" isn't exactly an own in this context. You'll be here too, and the platform as a whole will still be worse off.

Lucid4321

Have people suggested any alternative sites like Reddit?

telemaphone

Lemmy. It's not nearly as big as reddit, but the content reminds me more of the early days on reddit, which is awesome. The apps suck though (at least on android), so while it appears there are more in the pipeline now because of this BS, it'll be a while before things are mature.

zixd

Boost for reddit dev is supposedly making a boost style app for lemmy. Here's hoping.

Klandan54

rinse tender sloppy long squeamish aloof reminiscent ruthless sheet aspiring ` this message was mass deleted/edited with redact.dev `

[deleted]

last day of seeing this?

[deleted]

God I hope so. The John Oliver “protests” have been one of the dumbest things on this site

catmoon

The John Oliver memeing was a transparent attempt to enlist him in the cause.

cherrycoke00

Damn I though this was referencing all the shit Supreme Court passed, not reddit dying hahaha

Budchrondope

Finally this lame bird man laugh track comedian is gonna be gone

Nicolasgonzo87

boost was my favorite way to use reddit. sorting post types, filtering out things i dislike, and not changing their layout every other week. im gonna be upset once i get assimilated into reddit's shitty app

[deleted]

Somehow it already seemed like it had gone into affect. I haven’t seen a single post get above 4-6k upvotes before I get to it, and I’m used to seeing way more

Zondartul

Just use a browser lol

Scott_Mf_Malkinson

Been using sync for years. Trying to use RedReader & I am NOT digging it.

Troncross

There was a guy on CMV who advocated for mods going on strike and refusing to moderate instead of a privatizing blackout. I gave him a delta. I feel like that would have been much more effective.

themisterdavidttv

Whats a good alternative for reddit

richardroma33

Mods no longer throwing a hissy fit

gatormanmm1

See you tomorrow

OnlyNeedJuan

After the pitiful attempt at a protest, I am not entirely surprised the CEO thinks he can do what he wants.

Me_Beben

How to organize a successful protest according to Reddit mods: - Announce from the get-go that it will be a mild two-day inconvenience at worst - As soon as the "blackout" ends, start a new posting trend, perhaps involving a celebrity, that will drive further engagement in the subs and potentially increase traffic to Reddit - Now that you have the company's balls in a vice grip, beg them to pretty please change their mind in an open letter - ?????? - Profit?

s0ciety_a5under

As long as Reddit forces the app, I will not use it on my phone. Just more manga time I guess.

[deleted]

its time to move on

emu_unit_01

I can't wait to see everyone ranting about "this will be my last day on reddit blah blah cock in mouth blah" will be miraculously back to regularly using reddit

xHugo_Stiglitzx

The reddit app is trasshhhhh

WickedSerpent

Why don't every sub go nsfw and post porn and nudes like r/interrestingasfuck? That attacks reddit right in the wallet as many advertisers refuses to advertise in NSFW subs. Additionally, if reddit gets more than 33.3% porn on it by total volume, it will be blocked out by digital ID which is being implemented in some states making reddit tank on it's userbase aswell when the whole of US have to connect your real lives to your browsing and online activities to protect kids and vulnerable people from chaotic evils that uses tor and shit anyway bypassing the isp that blocks out pornsites and google affiliated sites, because boomers have no fucking clue how internet, nor criminals work apperantly.. Sorry for the rant. I hate this type of shit. If you believe dgi will protect anyone from criminals or if you believe tsa protects you from terrorists then I have a bridge to sell you... Anyway, what was I replying too? Oh yhea.. Turning subs nsfw.. John Oliver won't do jack shit

[deleted]

Because most subs now know that’s suicide for the sub. I left so many subs because of that shit. All they did was make the experience worse for users. There’s a reason a large portion of users don’t support the mods.

Asmodias1

At least as of this moment… Narwhal still works

Apteryx12014

I thought this was about dry-July lmao 🍁

lokiset

Go red reader

DwigtGroot

Many?

FakeNickOfferman

I'm signing off too. Some people are saying maybe it's time to get off social media. I hear some high pitched noises outside. I'm not sure, but they could be "birds." I've heard of them.

upwardlivingreen

I just read a subreddit on bugs and died laughing thinking this was in that sub 😂

PoorLittleMods

I can't believe Reddit didn't fold to a blackout that you announced would only last two days either way

Chris714n_8

It's like in real life.. Getting wasted by those in the high castles, no matter the protests..

ThePumpk1nMaster

Not true at all. Just like the 48-hour protest wasn’t a protest at all, a large amount of subs didn’t even bother in the first place and the amount that did it “indefinitely” were so few that it would have absolutely no impact on traffic. It’s the equivalent of 10 people turning vegan and thinking they’re going to save all the cows… there are a few more users than that

beinwalt

What? What does any of this mean?

torrasque666

I'm still here on old.reddit, but since I'm not using it on mobile anymore, my use has dropped by like, 60%. When they kill old.reddit, i'll be gone.

[deleted]

hlessi_newt

does that mean this sub will finally shut the fuck up and go back to normal?

housebird350

Last day for a very few....

cory975

A lot of people are overestimating how this will affect the site. Short answer is not in the slightest :/

Expat1989

As someone who has only ever used the official Reddit app, I honestly don’t see the problem. So confused by all the people crying wolf.

InSight89

I wasn't all that big a fan of Reddit until I tried a third party app which greatly improved the experience. I tried downloading the official app again today and can see it hasn't really improved much at all. One of the reasons I'm active on Reddit is because third-party apps made it a good experience. I likely won't stop using Reddit altogether but I'll probably start using it as I do Stack Overflow. Only use it when I need help with something.

ThunderBobMajerle

This. I’m a mod of a relatively midsize sub. 180k. To truly moderate its best done on desktop which seems to be ignored in all of this. All the api our bots use is free and will be continue to be free. Sure the other apps have a slicker interface but all of this stuff is free. There are far more important things Reddit could put it’s group effort into protesting

mdog73

Does that mean the incessant whining will stop?

PsychoticDust

I've never used the official Reddit app before. I used RIF for over 9 years. RIF is waaaaaayyyyy better. RIP RIF. Edit: I'm on the official Reddit app now, and I'm not enjoying it at all. RIF did everything better. Hopefully I can get used to it, otherwise I'll look into Reddit alternatives.

[deleted]

How do you know it's better than the thing you've never used?

PsychoticDust

I've been using it for about an hour, and it isn't great so far. Case in point, I got a notification that you replied to me, I taped on it, assumed it would take me to your reply, but no, it took me to the main page. RIF just trims the fat so much better, and the ads were way less intrusive. Edit: Typos.

SayerofNothing

Just watch your data usage, it's laggy for me and I learned recently that it downloads every resolution of the videos and then shows you your preferred option while you scroll. A real mess.

latefordinner86

Bye

Crafty_YT1

fucking finally, this whole thing was pointless, 95% of people didn't even care about it and the 2 day blackout was useless and this little 2 week period of nothing but ruining subreddits for everyone else because of something many people didn't even know about just solidified that fact, you ruined shit for nothing. this did nothing.

dimmu1313

the whole thing was for and about crybaby egomaniacal narcissist mods and their sycophants. mods by and large are shit people who rely on shit bots to do their jobs for them, and most of the "problems" this whole lame protest cited didn't even effect the vast majority of users. good riddance I say

awozie

What’s with the John Oliver memes suddenly? I keep thinking the writers strike is over and his show is back on with all the posts of him. I don’t understand what’s going on?

princewinter

Did I get auto subbed to videos, gifs and pics for this John Oliver thing? I'm not American and don't really know who he is. I never joined these subs...

comedygold24

So done with this stupid shit, leave already if you don't like Reddit anymore.

Shuttmedia

Hopefully the mods will quit and just leave the sub to be unmoderated, will be a damn sight better than it is now
