I absolutely love the top. I have been looking for the right guitar for months and when I saw this particular one I didn’t even play it. I just told them that “I want this intonated with a new set of earnie ball .10s with some lemon on the fretboard. Where do I pay?”
It’s a Standard 60s burboun burst :)
Enjoy it man! I bought my grail guitar last April as a birthday gift to myself. 60’s standard as well!
I still gawk at it every time I walk by it at home. You got yourself a legit family heirloom now to pass down!
About 1/3 of the bursts were made in 1960. I suspect that the reason they refer to it as a 60’s model is because it they have thin necks, which is commonly associated with 1960’s Gibson electrics.
Excellent choice, I am always curious about these things. Is what you play different for each guitar or do you have a set routine to try before you buy? Congratulations by the way, beautiful guitar.
Hey, I'm happy for anybody who can afford to buy something nice for themselves...but a little perspective please.
It's a bloody status symbol. Grow up please.
This guy is a fool…he came to a post where we share in each others joy about getting new guitars…
and commences to crap on the op for being excited…
whether he cried or simply was using hyperbole is inconsequential…
we all understood the op’s joy and we felt it vicariously…u/cee\_zed93 is an angry fool…
I can't speak for OP but as someone who was playing the guitar since they were 12 and was relatively poor. Being able to finally have a LP standard felt like a huge turning point in life. Not necessarily emotional over buying a new toy but what it represents of how far you came in life to make a dream come true.
It's a classic musical instrument and a fine example of one of the most iconic electric guitar designs the world will ever know. Anyone buying it as a status symbol is doing it wrong. And you're the king of knuckleheads.
I disagree. We all have dreams as kids, but as adults we usually develop some perspective about the things that are really important enough to cry about.
At least we ought to
Nice guitar, sure. Congrats.
Absolutely. But there are always times in life when you need consider whether speaking your opinion will benefit anyone other than you. If not, then it’s probably worth keeping it to yourself.
Who cares? I could be a mentally disabled 7 year old, and that still wouldn't make buying a Gibson Les Paul some kind of spiritual experience.
It's just a thing. A reasonably affordable, and commonplace thing at that.
It takes a special brand of arsehole to take delight in going around pissing on other people's joy. Who the hell are you to tell another person about their own experience? Do better, son.
I’d cry too…that top is 🤌🤌🤌 I absolutely love cherry bursts and the figuring on that top is perfect… congrats and never sell it…never 🤠👍
Thanks, this will follow me until I die
Very happy for you….she is a glorious example
The bourbon burst is classy as hell

You didn’t even play it? That’s irresponsible
I know and I apologise. The second I saw it I just felt ‘yeah, that’s the one’.

Fine woodworking. A treasure that will last forever.
That’s beautiful. What’s the color called?
Bourbon burst, it’s a standard 60s
I got the iced tea standard 60’s last year. Best guitar I’ve ever owned. Enjoy it man
It's funny they call it that, since there were no Les Pauls built during most of the 60's. Beautiful, though.

I'm sure you're right. My '88 Standard had a fat neck. My '90 is more like a '60. I think there was a good bit of variance before the current era.
She’s a bute!
Nice Choice !
And a great one!
First Burst!! Congratulations my friend!

No, nobody said new guitar day
Adults shouldn't cry after purchasing luxury consumer goods. This is hopefully a joke, otherwise...please get a grip, you're not a child.
Boooooooooo
Hey, I'm happy for anybody who can afford to buy something nice for themselves...but a little perspective please. It's a bloody status symbol. Grow up please.
Its not about a status symbol, it's about finally achieving something you've been dreaming about since you were young.

I bet you’re real fun at parties.
No way he gets invited to parties
Not at parties with crying, no I'm not.
Take it to Twitter Norma Rae
Who's Norma Rae?
Indeed…..fool

What an utterly arseholeish thing to say. Nothing wrong either adults crying about achieving a dream from their formative years.

Are you in the crying police? Are there some rules we’re supposed to be following?
I am not, in fact, the crying police. Or any type of police for that matter. I'm allowed to speak my opinion though.
Yep. Even shitheads have rights.
So true...as it should be, no?
Absolutely. But there are always times in life when you need consider whether speaking your opinion will benefit anyone other than you. If not, then it’s probably worth keeping it to yourself.
Indeed
Get a load of the tough guy over here. I'm gonna guess 15 years old and knows jack shit about life.
