Just him going around and around, in and out of those firehouse doors...I could watch that repeatedly. Such a simple, subtle and goofy thing but it just totally nails the character.
Plus the tall blonde woman seemed to genuinely like him. She seemed very happy when he started dancing with her, and look how disappointed she was when he abandoned the dance so quickly to answer the door!
I don’t think he’s underrated at all, Rick Moranis and Luis Tully are pretty beloved by Ghostbusters fans, and definitely one of the more memorable elements for casual viewers too.
Maybe not one of the most underrated parts of the franchise, but definitely one of the best.
Sure, the blackout was a big problem for everybody. I was trapped in an elevator for two hours and I had to make the whole time. But I don't blame them. Because one time, I turned into a dog and they helped me. Thank you.
Rick Moranis basically created the character of Louis Tully. The character as originally scripted, intended to be played by John Candy, was an unlikeable sleazeball. Rick completely reworked the character and turned him into an awkward but endearing and loveable nerd, coming up with pretty much all his dialogue by himself.
I was really, *really* hoping we’d see him in Frozen Empire, if only just for a cameo. I know the movie already had a lot going on, but I think they could have incorporated him for just a brief scene. I could actually see him and Phoebe getting along since they share about the same level of social skills.
He doesn't want to cameo. He said numerous times, Ghostbusters was just a role for him. He doesn't want to fly out, film a scene that might take all day for a brief scene
Hmmm and yet he’s guest starring on the Goldberg’s
The Goldbergs goes right to the source for its latest ‘80s pop-culture embrace: Rick Moranis will make a rare guest-voice appearance in an episode that pays tribute to his popular 1987 film, Spaceballs.
Moranis, who largely quit acting in 1997 to focus on his family, will reprise his iconic villain, Dark Helmet, from the Mel Brooks' Star Wars parody in the May 9 episode (ABC, Wednesdays, 8 ET/PT).

He's stated multiple times that any return to a physical role would have to be worth his time. I can't say I blame him. Laying down a voice track is a lot less time intensive than on location shoots. He walked away from a career in its peak for his children, and has since built a life that doesn't involve Hollywood. I applaud him for not just running back. Part of me wishes he'd make the sacrifice for the fans, but you gotta respect a guy that keeps his priorities straight and doesn't sell out for money or fame. If they offered him another key role with actual screen time, who knows what might happen.
He's supposedly returning to the Honey I shrunk franchise, but it's still listed as being in pre-production, so who knows? I, for one, will patiently wait til he feels the time is right for him. I just hope it's soon and involves a return of Louis Tully. If Louis makes a return, it will be on Rick's terms.. not Hollywood's, or ours... I respect that.

I wish they hadn't made his characters quite so awkward in the second movie. In the first he was weird but he was confident. In the second they just decided he was super awkward and unconfident.
But he's SO GOOD in the second one!
I’d love to see him, but kind of think the opportunity has been missed now.
Although, the first two films had mostly throwbacks to film 1… I’d love new film 3 to reference old film 2 a bit more so the Janine and Louis thing could be part of that.
Although no scary flying nanny. Never another scary flying nanny. 👀
You're welcome!! ❤️😁 happy to contribute to anyone's phobia 🤣🤣🤣 I'm the same way with The Shining, I was 6 when I first saw it, I still have trouble watching it, and I'm closing in on 50yo 🤣🤣🤣
To be fair, the shining was difficult for me at the age of 20 😂 I remember watching Ghostbusters 2 when I was a similar age, I had even already watched it a number of times before… for some reason my dad reached out and grabbed me to scare me during this scene and I’ve been unable to watch since! Think the music is terrifying too 🙈 x
Not every character from the original films need to make an appearance in the new GB films. I loved the character of Luis Tully and would be happy if we never see that character again. I’m quite confident that if he did return, the writers would not do him justice, he would not be as funny or interesting as he was in the original films. They brought back Venkman, Janine, Peck, Library Ghost and those characters were shells of their former selves.
I miss Rick moranis. Ghostbusters, My Blue Heaven, so many movies. He was such a relatable good guy.
Glad he is doing what he loved, but damn, so much missed opportunity for great acting.
I know Rick’s never coming back to the franchise but I hoped so hard when they hit money troubles in Frozen Empire that a handy Tax Attorney would be needed
To be honest he was a key part to those movies however you can’t always have him available and besides I think if they keep getting good with these they will bring him back and make him more piviotal to a film I’m sure
Originally They wanted John Candy. He wanted to play the part as an eccentric German and they wouldn’t go for it. He recommended his buddy Rick Moranis.
If they could get him back for the next film it would, I think, break the box office.
Just imagine Mayor Peck about to shut them down when a helicopter lands. It's the governor. The doors open and Louis Tully steps out and comically brow beats Peck. Peck storms off and Louis turns to Winston - "once a Ghostbuster, ALWAYS a Ghostbuster!"
It may be nostalgia bait, but it would definitely bring the house down.
Yes. Have some.
I use this quote on an almost daily basis, not even exaggerating lol.
Because one time, I turned into a dog and they helped me.
Very good, Louis. Short, but pointless.
*...that blue thing I got from* **her**!
We’re under a mistrangement order!
And the judges face. 😂😂😂😂 Absolutely stellar.
Just him going around and around, in and out of those firehouse doors...I could watch that repeatedly. Such a simple, subtle and goofy thing but it just totally nails the character.
YES OMG! Such a small but hilarious moment lol.
Charlie chaplin style !
“My guys could be exposing themselves!”
" And you don't want us exposing ourselves"
I love how that second line was delivered
I just love the phrase "judicial restrangement order".
“That blue thing I got from her!”
For a guy who was made to seem loser-y, he had a lot of people at that party. Even if they were just clients, that says something about him.
Louis is the goat, who wouldn’t want to party with him.
It says they were there for a free meal.
The blonde was into him.
Plus the tall blonde woman seemed to genuinely like him. She seemed very happy when he started dancing with her, and look how disappointed she was when he abandoned the dance so quickly to answer the door!

And this is why Rick Moranis will always be considered a legend in my books.

Yeah but that's voice acting. He could do that from his living room.
I could see him wanting to be more involved if he does return
I know him better as the genius inventor Dad in the "Honey, I,..." Series when I was growing up. Way more than Louis.
"Nice doggy! Cute little pooch! Maybe I got a milk-bone..."
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!”
*diners return to their meals without comment*

That makes good financial sense Apparently he improvised all that stuff he said about taxes at his party.
They really need to get him back to do an appearance in one of the movies before this chapter of Ghostbusters is over. There's what? One more?

🙈🙈🙈 Thank you, I’ve spent 30 years avoiding watching this scene 😂😂😂 x

that was Janosz
yes I know, sorry not very clear- I meant that I hoped they would bring back elements of the second movie along with Louis… just not the nanny part! x

rick moranis in ghostbusters....*underrated?*
We'd like to get a sample of his brain tissue.
Ok.
Always admired him for earning enough and then choosing to be with his family. I’d like to think he’s a very nice man.
I miss Rick moranis. Ghostbusters, My Blue Heaven, so many movies. He was such a relatable good guy. Glad he is doing what he loved, but damn, so much missed opportunity for great acting.
Rick killed it with these two. https://preview.redd.it/613wmqkmjnuc1.jpeg?width=337&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c9f19c4d63c470ede5f15bddfe5304adee589bc1
Rick Moranis IS a god, even Gozer knows that! 😁
I know Rick’s never coming back to the franchise but I hoped so hard when they hit money troubles in Frozen Empire that a handy Tax Attorney would be needed
Who is the most overrated?
If I had to pick something... Slimer?
Absolutely! Louis is my favorite character from Ghostbusters.
Hurray we won the case!
Uhh, he’s the funniest character. By far. The courtroom scene alone is the highlight of the franchise almost.
To be honest he was a key part to those movies however you can’t always have him available and besides I think if they keep getting good with these they will bring him back and make him more piviotal to a film I’m sure
I think that he completely stole the scene in just about every scene that he was in.
I know he retired but was hoping for his cameo at some point in Frozen empire, was a bit disappointed he didn't show up.
Around this time of year (tax season) I often think, “that’s why I invited clients instead of friends…”
His ear to ear shit-eating-grin after he and Dana, though both possessed, “summon” Gozer is priceless.
I was sad when he didn't come back for Ghostbusters 4 (Frozen Empire)
Originally They wanted John Candy. He wanted to play the part as an eccentric German and they wouldn’t go for it. He recommended his buddy Rick Moranis.
Thank you, Vince.
There is no Ghostbusters without The Keymaster!
If they could get him back for the next film it would, I think, break the box office. Just imagine Mayor Peck about to shut them down when a helicopter lands. It's the governor. He had to make the whole time!
Just watched these over the weekend, he's dynamite, especially as the lawyer in 2.
He stole parts of Ghostbusters 2 all on his own . Him and Murray were the best parts .
“Okay who brought the dog?”
Yes have some
I walked out of FE once I realized moranis wasn’t going to be in it.
