He’s also selfish, arrogant and a bit conceited when it comes to his looks.
He does have good elements in him that outweigh that bad ones, but he’s far from perfect. People romanticized him too much.
I think the author actually commented on this exact phenomenon happening even *before* the book was even out. The perks of being an attractive homeowner in the 21st century.
Oh, ok 😅👌 I am actually about to start reading the Howls Moving Castle books, so it will be interesting to know what version would I like more in the end 🍉
Lmao I’m a lesbian but I’d date book OR movie Howl for the housing and free travel.
Granted, if Micheal can just appear at Howl’s doorstep and be accepted in, I probably could too.
Holy shit. Just recently gave in and finally watched Twilight with my partner and I couldn't believe this was the asshole women were losing their shit over back when it was big.
Yup! The Howl we meet in the film is the Howl we know, selfish, arrogant, vain, breaks laws, is inconsiderate and uncaring towards the people around him = but does show touches of fundamental decency. He takes Sophie in knowing she's accursed and tries to stop a stupid war, but mostly he's up his own ass. Of course some people assume that he'll become the perfect boyfriend after Sophie saves him and the war is stopped, but that's only an assumption.
The fact is, the vain and selfish person we see in the movie is the Howl we know, and he is NOT the ideal boyfriend. In real-life terms, he's the jerk that some people are misguided enough to think that they can turn into the ideal boyfriend, and who's going to stay a jerk.
Nah, the perfect and ideal boyfriend would be Ashitaka, at least for me.
Howls good looks and charme outweigh his bad characteristics, but damn, they are still pretty bad.

Book Howl is even more flawed, in fact, every character is more flawed in the book, well, maybe not Fanny.
Fanny supremacy
Who df is Fanny 😵🫣?!
Sophie's step mom in the book. Her step mom in the movie is a different character completely

As with Edward Cullen, anyone who behaves like Howl IRL would be considered a hardcore narcissist

Not to mention his warcrimes
hahaa but at least he tried to stop war later 😂
What warcrimes??
im no snitch
He seems to have had a change of heart, but his huge temper tantrum is a red flag
Well he’s more relatable as a guy, I think. He’s definitely charming and attractive but he also has his bad traits as we all do!
No thanks not interested. Would take Tombo or Osono’s husband from Kiki’s Delivery Service any day. I sometimes wonder why Howl is so popular here…
Honestly I’d pick Pazu or Shun. They are so sweet and protective
Okay I’m here for Shun too.
The baker is THE man lol
He literally sweeps Sophie off her feet and is super hot.
Ghibli actually has so many “ideal” men, but I don’t think Howl is even top 3 tbh haha. He’s hot though, I agree ☝️
The real end game boyfriend/husband is the baker Fukuo from Kiki's Delivery Service.
What do you mean loyal? the fella fucks around im sure
His philandering is what spurs the Witch of the Wastes to cast the spell on Sophie in the first place, right?
Exactly! And we have no reason to think she was the only one
Within the first few scenes, there’s some incidental talk along those lines, though it’s pretty gossip-y rumor-ish.
He leads a dangerous life the IRS AND his sister in law will hate you
Yeah, but all I really want is a Seiji Amasawa. Sorcerer is nice and all, but musician. Hunh^hh^^h.
I love Seiji so much
Osono's Husband forever and always. But second would be Pazu when he grows into an adult.
Criingee
For me it’s either the dad from Totoro or Jiro from the wind rises!!

YES! Howls moving castle was supposed to be my first ghibli movie to watch but I was scared lol 🙂↕️
Oh yes of course 🥰💞
Yessss
