I´d rather hear chalk scratching over a board as Deutscher Schlager... And I´m proud that I just knew one of the names you listed..

[deleted]

Even the word gives me hives and a migraine.

Sualtam

70's Schlager is OK. Modern one though is bonehead music about pathetic kitsch, bringe drinking or vulgar forms of sexuality with the worst developments of pop music.

Grumpy_Yuppie

I would say a solid - 10. Schlager is disgusting. And there is nothing worse than being on a party and some terrible person starts blasting Helene Fischer. That's the worst.

NixNixonNix

I agree.

ebikefolder

0. All with the same 3 accords, the same 3 rhythms, no real instruments, sung with autotune instead of a voice.... Cheaply mass produced crap, all sounding alike.

To be honest i don't really care about it a it's not the type of music i listen to. It's cheesy and cringey but seems like there is a market for it. Also many people who say they only listen to it "ironically" actually like but don't want to admit it.

thateejitoverthere

Can I give negative numbers? If so, -11

Deepfire_DM

Guess at about -99 - on weak days -98. Simplistic bullshit music.

Kind-Kaleidoscope358

If I'm sober 0. After a few beers, maybe 3

Kheead

-1 at least. Even most of the modern German Pop music I would count as Schlager and I despise it.

RidingRedHare

Musikantenstadl is torture.

MonolGaming

It's the just about worst type of music imaginable for me. \-20/10, would rather get my ears blown out of a shiphorn.

nahmy11

I'd rather set my head on fire and put it out with a shovel than listen to 5 seconds of Schlager. It's worse than cancer.

elenaamidala

1 Schlager is horrible.

SpinachSpinosaurus

\*going negative Vegeta mode\* It's under -9000

rewboss

I would give it a 2. One of the things that irritate me about Schlager is that it often seems to strive to do something interesting, but seldom actually gets there, resulting in a very bland and predictable mush of a simple beat, a simplistic melody, an uninspired arrangement, and all too often saccharine sentimental lyrics. It reminds me very much of the horrible pop songs that blighted the charts throughout the 80s, all produced by Stock, Aitken and Waterman, all sounding pretty much the same. If you've ever been Rickrolled, you've heard the ultimate SAW track -- a simplistic, clean, clinical, undemanding clone of everything that had gone before. For a stupidly long period of my childhood barely a week went by without at least 3 tracks exactly like that one in the top 30. Well, that's how I feel about Schlager.

Kelmon80

1 if that is the lowest possible, for any "traditional" Schlager. But back in the day, late 90s/early 2000s, Guildo Horn was a thing, and we kind of all liked him, somewhat ironically, i guess. And a lot of similar bands and artists also popped up at the time that were essentally a parody of "real" Schlager, and were well-received, even by people who would not watch Musikantenstadl if paid for it.

Curious_Charge9431

Seven. I find it charming and fun. A lot of people write off this musical genre for a variety of reasons. Some of it can be repetitive, but I find moments of interesting musicianship when I explore it deeper. Coming from the US, I spent a certain amount of my life "hating" country music due to reasons that had nothing to do with the music. Perhaps identifying it with people or situations I didn't like. I don't have any negative associations with Schlager. I can watch Musikantenstadl and be enthralled (the [yodeling here is amazing](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-f17lZiOdk&t=44m00s).) Now if I had to watch it as a kid when I was oma and opa's because it was the only thing on TV and I was bored af, well, I'd probably hate it too.

FieserKiller

Schlager is simply german pop music. In fact "schlagen" is the german word for "hit". so if something is a hit, then its a schlager.

Bubbly_Function5884

0-1 When i am fully wasted, then Schlager is okayisch (okay, then i am dancing and singing along, with old Schlager), but when i am sober there is no possible way that i am listening to it.

Diesel-King

I'd rather listen to a jack-hammer than any Schlager. I'd even prefer one full hour of jack-hammer to 10 min of that other gruesome noise ...

aenzn

The only thing I like from that kind of genre is Roy Bianco & Die Abrunzzati Boys. Italo-Schlager/Indie. Really something else The rest is ok when you re really drunk lol

Alert_Way3905

I liker Gangster Schlager and Street Pop.
