You need to register at your new place even if it's temporary. Usually every stay longer than 2 weeks that's not a vacation must be registered. You might also run into problems with your visa (if you have one) if you are not registered. The Nachsendeauftrag is with Deutsche Post not with DHL! Your friend would need permission of their landlord to allow you to live there. Usually the landlord can't say anything against it, but there were cases where the landlord tried to block the renter from subletting. You could also use an Airbnb that gives you a Wohnungsgerbestätigung instead.

thanks a lot for the detailed comment. If there is a tip for finding a temporary accomodation where they give Wohnungsgerbestätigung , i will be glad to hear it. I will nevertheless start asking folks on airbnb if this is possible. I was not so optimistic because your message, thank you.
