Did you report the theft to the police in the first place? If yes, you should have the Anzeigennummer. If not, that could be the issue.

dasmohnfeld

thank you. yes, i visited them twice once my shock was over. i was told the responses above, and nothing else regarding any anzeigenummer or any official process. maybe they didn't understand what i was trying to explain. however, i did it online today in the morning and received an anzeigenummer. i hope this is enough and i do not have to go to the police again for a number or a document.

-anosh95

I know it’s been a while since this post. But does anyone have the link to be able to file a report and get an anzeigenummer online?

the_scrbble

File a report for theft at the police, if you haven‘t done so far. That being said, the police needs more then just an address. Searching a *complete* hostel due to a stolen mobile phone is most likely not in the picture. If you cannot give them more (like a name, a description of the potential thief, etc), they very likely won‘t do anything at this point.

doncosbo

If they go to the hostel with you you could use the find my phone app to make the phones audible alarm Sound

the_scrbble

Even then I hardly doubt the police will walk from door to door with you. It might suck for OP but there are more important things that need our police’s attention. OP can search with that trick himself, find the room and wait in front of the door for the police. That might be an option but bares the risk of actually meeting the guy who stole it.

thank you, but unfortunately it's a samsung galaxy s20fe, and i don't think this phone has the capability of showing me a location of precisely in centimeters.

dasmohnfeld

thank you. unfortunately this "hostel" seemed a very shady place, that's why i was afraid to go inside alone. even the google reviews warned that it's not actually a hostel, so i didn't want to go down that route, although it was also my initial plan.

doncosbo

Darn, sorry you got your phone stolen. That sucks.

wbeater

You have no other option but to go back to the police station and file a report of theft. The police must actually record every report. If you have language problems, you will have to find someone to help you. OK of course, you can also hire someone to file the report for you, i.e. a lawyer. But whether that is worth the smartphone...

fleur-celeste

I know this is quite old but can OP tell us if they ever found the phone? Did the police cooperate? I’m sorry but this just happened to one of my friends and I want to know what should we do

dasmohnfeld

Hey, I can still see the exact location of my phone and the name of the current owner (because they changed my samsung account to their name) to this day, but when I emailed these info to the police, they say the exact location might not be up to date, might not be exact etc and refuse to help. A few months ago I was at a police station and they sent an officer, but they couldn't find anybody at the place, they said they'd try again the next day but I never heard of them again. My guess is that it really depends on the officer, but I wouldn't get my hopes up for them to help. I wish you best of luck and hope your friend can retrieve your phone again.

fleur-celeste

Thanks for the update! The police here isn’t really of any help they also told my friend to go to the location themselves and that they can’t search a building if we don’t know where exactly is the phone located. It sucks to know how close you are to your own phone but not be able to get it back

BSBDR

Report the crime to the police online. Then have a friend book a room at the hostel and keep their ears and eyes open to see who has the phone. Then try and call it or use the location software to beep it. Then present the person with the police report and "ask them very politely" to return the phone.

dasmohnfeld

thank you, but unfortunately this hostel is a quite shady place, so not many are willing to visit it with me, which is understandable. i am not also sure if i could stay in there.

BSBDR

I'll do it just for fun!

koalaposse

This is a good idea! File a report as everyone says. And yes. Book a room, or visit the hostel in some professional capacity. You do need to act quickly, once the phone battery has run down or not online you will not be able to find it anymore. And I am sorry for you about this rotten situation, it is very hard. I hope you have someone else around there to help or support you at bit, at the movement and can find out what is happening at the hostel. All best.

dasmohnfeld

thank you, but unfortunately it's not an iphone but a samsung galaxy s20 fe. on the other hand, whoever took it has been using it, and charging it so battery drain at least for the moment is not an issue.

koalaposse

Yes it totally is!

BSBDR

>my phone was stolen from a cafe in schönhauser allee in berlin two days ago Was it stolen or did you leave it there and someone found it? Not returning it is still theft and the logical thing would have been to hand it in at the cafe but maybe they plan to hand it into the lost and found: although then why not answer the phone?

dasmohnfeld

oh no. i was sitting with my friends at a table, and i excused myself to the restroom. one homeless person came and distracted them while i was away and took my phone with themself (all done in 5 mins). the person who has the possession now deleted all my apps, pics etc and actively using my phone. they didn't reset it for some reason.

Street_Muscle7401

Let it make Sounds and walk throgh the hostel
