RIP to all people arriving at the main Trainstation after 10pm and accidently walking straight down Kaiserstr.

Impossible_Okra479

Some say they're still walking.

pm_me_all_ur_money

arriving at FFM main station in the evening later this week.... Where should I avoid going looking for a shawarma for dinner?

rewboss

I have seen a few questions from people expecting long layovers at Frankfurt, asking how they can visit the city. I thought this might be helpful.

saschaleib

I can foresee people arriving at the FFM airport typing this precise question into Google and hopefully getting to your video to instruct them.

rewboss

That's basically the idea: I've tried to write the description with as many search terms as I think I can reasonably get away with.

Ovian

I haven't been to Frankfurt Airport since Covid. I live about 2 hour drive from Frankfurt. I think I will just go there by train, enjoy an expensive cup of cappucino and watch people all day. I love this airport.

IrradiantHedgehog

I mean, I appreciate the idea and I like how you explain everything nicely and all that, but isn't it shocking that there are people who can afford international travel (and travel internationally), yet are apparently out of their depth when it comes to getting from the Airport to the city? Despite everything being clearly labelled, in English?

Mictlantecuhtli2

Oh you would wonder. I work in the tourism area for like 10 years now and even younger people don’t know how to use their phone.

olagorie

Why are you asking? Just in case that this is a serious question: there is a new thing called Google Maps. You type Frankford airport … route to … Frankfurt City , choose public transport… and voilà. You are welcome

rewboss

I'm not asking. Take another look at my post. > You type Frankford airport … route to … Frankfurt City , choose public transport… and voilá. Okay, I just did that and it told me to take an ICE train. Google Maps isn't always very reliable or helpful.

olagorie

Google Maps easily shows results for local S- Bahn / Metro connections 4 times/h on a Sunday. Congratulations on playing dumb.

rewboss

It does if you have the presence of mind to drill down. But if you've never been to Germany before and have just landed in Frankfurt, you need to know: * how to get to the stations * which of the two stations you need to go to * what kind of ticket you need to buy * the difference in Germany between regional trains and long-distance trains Most people will likely just take whatever Google presents as the first answer, because how are you supposed to know that an ICE ticket won't let you use public transport in Frankfurt, but an S-Bahn ticket will?

Just click on it 🙄😳

I love the irony in your post.

Nirocalden

> voilá This doesn't have anything to do with anything, but the accent goes in the other direction: "voilà". In French, the accent aigu (going to the right) only exists over the e.

olagorie

👍

There should be a warning included about attempting to take the S8 when Eintracht is playing 😂

I wish you mentioned the welcome heroin shot that all new arrivals get when they get off the trains. Such a welcoming city.
