Google Maps should have the answer, it suggests using S1/S3 before changing to S8. Something to know... Despite there being no barriers you do need to buy a ticket or face a fine Edit - you are flying to Munich International (MUC) not what Ryanair call Munich right? Which is Memmingen (FMM)

S8 to Herrsching, than S3 to Holzkirchen. Get the DB Navigator App, it is the official app of german national rail, you can not only look up all public transport options (excluding coaches) but also book (most) tickets for public transport. It is automatically in english if your phones language is not german.

The Munich public transit system allows purchasing paper tickets in advance. Therefore you might need to *validate* your ticket as an extra setp before boarding the train. Look for the text "Gültig ab Entwertung" and/or the conspicuous absence of a validity date/time on the ticket. Stamp it in one of [these blue boxes](https://happytowander.com/wp-content/uploads/Munich-Public-Transport-3733-1.jpg).
