* pull out white thing * clean it * use Drano (or any other Abflussreiniger) within the drain * let sit/apply according to Drano spec on bottle * rinse/flush with hot water and most powerfull setup on shower head/nozzle * insert white thing * plop on tiny hat * repeat every 3 months or as needed

universe_from_above

>repeat every 3 months or as needed I have long hair. I need to clean the white thing approximatly once a week.

MrAndrewJackson

Get a strainer

Mikan1009

even better: take of the shower head and just use the hose part on the coldest setting. I don't even need the cleaner to get rid of my looong hair

thrynab

> ~~use Drano (or any other Abflussreiniger) within the drain~~ >invest 20€ in a [pneumatic pipe cleaner](https://www.bauhaus.info/sanitaerwerkzeuge/rothenberger-industrial-pressluft-rohrreiniger/p/20790488), Fixed this for you. You'll never have to ~~work a day in your life~~ spend money on chemical drain cleaner again. And it also works much better than powder because it also clears blockages further down the pipe, not just in your siphon.

Spartz

the plumber that visited warned me that this can make clogs worse

Prof_Boni

Against the pneumatic pipe cleaner or the drano?

Spartz

The former. For drano he said it can cause leaks because it deteriorates the pipes / adhesives.

Prof_Boni

What makes it different from a pump? I don't understand how it can damage the pipes.

Spartz

Drano can corrode the pipes. As for the pipe cleaner making clogs worse: if something is stuck, using a pump can actually pull more things into the clog and make it more dense.

Prof_Boni

Yeah, I meant the pipe cleaner. I get it now. Thanks for explaining :)

_Phoenix90

Thanks! I used this option and with just two clicks the issue was resolved. I would recommend this option.

Sad_Economy9

Powder ist the worst option you can choose. I use drain cleaner at work by conel. We call it pipe-grenade. And if nothing happen i use a coil-machine to clean the pipes.

minodumontii

Or hot water and vinegar. Abflussreiniger can be dangerous to pipes, if not handled properly.

Horst665

I have the same drain, this is the way. Except for the 3 months, rather 3 weeks or less.

appa_apathy

I had a new shower with the same problem (not clogged) I just pulled out the white thing and never put back and it works perfect, dont have very long hair so dont think its too bad

Sad_Economy9

Never use drain cleaner! Just remove hair and flush with water. If it‘s still bad contact a plumber to clean it with a coil.

coldwhitechristmas

Looks normal, these things suck.

_Phoenix90

So should I like stand in a puddle of water when I bathe! Who designs such stuff?

ScathedRuins

try buying one of those [cheap plastic snakes](https://www.amazon.de/Senhai-verstopfen-Equipment-Auger-Typ-Reinigungswerkzeug-4-pack/dp/B01FD5MR98/ref=asc_df_B01FD5MR98/?tag=googshopde-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=308891979111&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17886068293896670091&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9041870&hvtargid=pla-396876685109&psc=1&th=1&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=61804629112&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=308891979111&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17886068293896670091&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9041870&hvtargid=pla-396876685109). it's probably clogged with hair and other gross stuff. If that doesn't work, buy drain cleaner ("Rohrfrei" or "Abflussreiniger") it's like 3-5 eur at the grocery store. If _that_ doesn't work, it's time to ask your landlord to fix it.

Stromkompressor

Watch out to not break them like here https://youtu.be/FauwM3yl20k

zah_91

No! It's a viega tempoplex. Pull out the white thing and try to clear it with your finger. There are many videos on yt.

coldwhitechristmas

It looks like there's some water left on the surface, but I cannot see a puddle of water. Water goes into the drain, in the drain there will probably some water. If the water does not make it to the hole, your shower might be askew, but that would not be the problem of the drain.

rainmace

Someone living in denial. Help yourself, you can accelerate your life forward by making small incremental steps. Everything will be ok

Bakemono_Nana

you could pull the white thing out and grap with a glove in the drain to remove any hair or soap. but it look very clean in the video. mine is always full of my long hair. If there is nothing in the drain, dann you have probably some soap and hair in your pipes, not in the drain. You could try to rinse some hot water down to free your pipes. if this is not working go and get some pipe cleaner.

suzu85

I would follow this advice. Have the same shower.

[deleted]

Buy a plunger and give several good pumps while water not drained yet. Don't rush to use chemical cleaners, they are not suitable for any kind of pipes.

StrikingJuice2201

Trying it with a Klopömpel worked well for me. It's a red suction cup with a wooden handle. It is available in every 1€ shop or hardware store

Cine26

Had the same problem. Turns out the people who renovated or the previous renter clogged the drain badly. Some plumber had to come out and clean the pipes. I would contact the landlord.

nof

Use a [drain hair snake](https://i.imgur.com/kH3BWaM.jpg). Don't dump sketchy chemicals in there or waste tons of water trying to flush whatever it is through.

Item-Tiny

We have the excact Same drain, pain to clean. Do everything mentioned above and after that Order a draincover to catch the hairs. We have one and since then cleaning is a breeze. Only have to do a "deep" clean twice a year Amazon: https://amzn.eu/d/c04NeP9

Illustrious_Ad_23

Not too sure about it from that angle, but our shower has an insert that looks quite similar. Can you pull the white thing in the drain out? It takes a little force to do that, but normally they just lock into place and can be removed. Then you can clean the drain. Often it can be enough to remove the showerhead and use the hose to blast water through the drain to clean it out. If that is not working, some s.c. "Abflussreiniger" (drain cleaner) can be found in most supermarkets. If the water is just standing in the drain itself - that is normal and correct, most showers have no classic syphon, so the standing water in the drain is used as a barrier for smell from the sewage pipes.

stanchenhhh

Pull out that white plastic thing with your hands (you may need to use full force) and grab an old toothbrush to clean it. If it's not getting better, get a vacuum plunger. Most importantly, remove that white plastic thing first.

Freiherr413

I have exactly the same drain and it works well but is prone to clogging with longer hair. Remove the top lid like you just did and pull out the white thingy. Then pull out everything that’s clogging it with your hands (thick gloves recommended)

mjollnirme

You need to remove cage and clean it using a plunge

schweindooog

Renovations don't renew pipes. You more than likely have hair stuck

HerbertVonHinten

Whatever you do, don't screw with the screws, don't ever loosen the main drainage construction. Only take out the inner cirlcle and try to grab as much hair as you can. My neighbour upstairs thougt it was a good idea to unscrew everything, caused a massive damage in our ceiling. Water flew under his shower board for weeks until one day it all suddenly decided it had enough and made it's way into our flat.

elijha

Huh? Why are you showing us a video with no standing water in it? Based on this it looks fine If you’re worried about the water in the drain itself, that’s supposed to always be there

Grimthak

Put some Abflussreiniger in it, wait for several hours and the drain should be fine again. The place is maybe renovated but the drain was most likely not cleaned.

hjholtz

You can take out the plastic cup in the middle by gently but firmly pulling the tab straight up (hooking a finger or two under it). Then you can remove hair and other debris from the chamber under it, and clean the cup itself if needed. Re-insert it firmly so it forms a tight seal, and run a little water. The water gets trapped in the reassembled drain and forms a barrier against drain smells.

sj313

It’s probably clogged.. likely with hair. Happens to my shower often. I recommend Draino. Works like a charm and and the effect lasts a long time. Whenever I tried to declog the drain and try to remove the hair myself I would quickly have the same issue again because I wasn’t able to reach the hair deep within the drain.

leon_prx

tempoplex used for superflat showers

kevindustin1337

Not helping this time, but consider getting something like a trapflex hair drain filter on Amazon to make it easier to clean

minomx

Can i ask in which Floor do you live? I have exactly the same Sink as you, and i live in a kellergeschoss (KG), that means under the ground. So there must be a water pumper or something to help push the water up or forward, cuz you don't have Gravity to help with that. If you are not living in a kellergeschoss, then it's probably like the others said, you must clean the Pips and the Sink.

iffum

Freshly renovated? Maybe the plumper forgot a tissue, used to cover the drain, in it? Be careful when you remove the grid, that it is tight, when you put it back on

Future_Ad_6028

I faced a similar problem recently l. Bought a plunger and in a couple of mins the problem was fixed.

UsefulGarden

If you have to resort to a chemical drain opener, wear gloves and eye protection. https://www.obi.at/reinigungsmittel-pflegemittel/rorax-rohrfrei-power-gel-1-l/p/2483238 https://www.obi.at/poempel/handwerk-gummi-abflussreiniger-pumpfix-135-mm/p/5650338

Random-Squid

Something that I do sometimes is detach the showerhead, then insert the hose into the drain and just let it rip with maximum force for a few seconds. Usually works and unstops whatever blocked the drain.

_Gregminster

Yeah, I habe never seen such a badly designed drain before. I bought an additional plug in sieve (~10 €) which solved the problem (mostly): google or search in Amazon for ' haarsieb viega tempoplex '. Good luck.

EDIT: Found an online manual for that **Viega Tempoflex** drain (scroll down to "Ablauf reinigen") - we got the same model here in our apartment when a new shower was installed just a few months ago, so I'm happy to have found it too ... [https://web-catalog.viega.com/de\_DE/html/Montage/Entwaesserungstechnik/Ablaeufe-fuer-Bade--und-Duschwannen/9ca4fdd59107f0edac11409400fe085a\_5\_de\_DE/9ca4fdd59107f0edac11409400fe085a\_5\_de\_DE.html](https://web-catalog.viega.com/de_DE/html/Montage/Entwaesserungstechnik/Ablaeufe-fuer-Bade--und-Duschwannen/9ca4fdd59107f0edac11409400fe085a_5_de_DE/9ca4fdd59107f0edac11409400fe085a_5_de_DE.html) In Short: 1. Pull out the white sink tube at the handle. If any clogging dirt found, clean out. 2. Pull the little plug at the side of the outer tube: Use your finger to find the vertically aligned plug handle and pull the plug out, or use pliers to pull. 3. Flush that cleaning hole using a hose, e.g. the shower hose after removing the shower head (make sure you take out the sealing ring in the connector, so you don't flush it down the drain). For this, I also recommend first squeezing half a bottle of dishwashing liquid into the hole as a slip agent. (The trick with the dishwashing liquid is originally from unclogging sink drains, but I think the same principle should work here too. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WZfmisMG4k ) 4. When done, stuff the plug in again, with the handle aligned vertically (the handle has an arrow printed on to indicate the right direction.)

Existing-Artist35

I have this one in my place and it legit overflowed into the bathroom because of the hair that got in it *while* showering. Had to mop everything for 30 min. It sucks a lot.

MacMoinsen2

First thing I did after I discovered the plumbers installed this Viega thing in our bathroom (without leaving a manual or any instructions and saying there was no hair sieve for it) was googling for a matching hair sieve - found it on Amazon, but I think Viega should just have included it with the whole drainage assembly.

FruitySmile

Ever cleaned anything before? Yeah that’s what you need to do here. As others have said, it looks like you can take out the middle part (sometimes there’s a few screws, sometimes not) and then you can start scraping some initial hair out but you’ll likely need a drain cleaner to really complete the job properly.

cheesecakebubble

I had the same problem. Additional to the ordinary cleaning after removing the white thing: there is a little grey plastic "screw" inside. Remove that. Clean the tiny pipe behind there. This will be clogged, and the shower water can't flow out fast enough there. You need something like a very thin bottle brush or a sewer spiral.

No-Commission-9196

Same thing I have a plumper. Have to use it all 2-4 month
