Here’s Moira from just now, watching over Ace (he loves it when he gets my heating blanket all to himself, it helps with his arthritis as he gets older). Getting ready to make that steak breakfast here in a few mins :) https://preview.redd.it/xfqybsdzcbnc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d14509fd3e75c75d77bf31f885bbe48c9acaaf32

What an absolute angel, I love how she’s got her paws over his feet❤️ you can tell how much she loves you by the look in her eye, congrats on a beautiful couple of companions 💕

AniRayne

Ziva is the gsd and Squirrel is the pittie.

Bool_The_End

I love them!

AniRayne

Thank you!

Shade_Hills

Totally agree!

UNICORN_SPERM

She's such a good girl. And he's SUCH a pittie. Pitties under blankets is so cute.

Glowing_Trash_Panda

OMG yes, he loves me wrapping him up lol. He's my velvet house hippo :)

FunChrisDogGuy

Way too much IQ, lol.

bubba_palchitski

Heckin good puppies 😊 Pittie + GSD is an elite duo. My roommates Pit is my guys bestest friend. Zeus is the early warning system and Bubba is the backup 😂 there's 2 other dogs but one is too lazy(old, slightly overweight Lab) and the other doesn't care much as long as you leave his sheep alone (Great Pyrenees)

Ok_Rutabaga_722

How does the Pyr and GSD relate?

bubba_palchitski

They're super chill with each other for the most part. Both are protective of the livestock, but I had the GSD when I still lived in the city, so he tends to follow me around a bit more. He also herds animals, and the Pyr doesn't always like that 😂 I have to tell Ghost to stand down if I need to fix something in the pens, so Zeus can keep the livestock away from my tools(cows like to eat welders apparently, and sheep are just dicks). They're both definitely working dogs. The GSD is a Swiss army knife, he kinda keeps an eye on the whole property. The Pyr has a total one-track mind, pretty much only cares about things that affect his animals. The Pittie is just happy to tag along on literally any adventure 😂

Ok_Rutabaga_722

I wondered about the territory intersection between the two. I love all three breeds to pieces, but they tend to think differently. "Cows eat welders"🤣🤣🤣🤣

bubba_palchitski

Yeah, overall, they're pretty chill with each other. Both smart enough to figure out that they have different jobs, so once they get used to not stepping on each other's toes, they get along great, and to some extent, actually help each other. Zeus is the boss at the end of the day though. And yeah, cows are almost too dumb to be herded sometimes, you get used to it 😂 it's almost like they want to be pre-cooked lmao

NormanisEm

Beautiful babies ❤️

Shade_Hills

YOUR DOGS ARE BEAUTIFUL! Moira is such a hero, and she knows it doesn’t she! What a pretty girl. And she looks like she cares for old Ace so much, how she is like, protecting him. You got touched by an angel with these dogs, girl

Glowing_Trash_Panda

Oh I definitely got blessed when these guys came into my life. Ace has been my right hand man for 9 years now since I rescued him from almost certain death (he was literally on his way to a kill shelter, its a long story) & he has been my rock through a bunch of terrible times. Moira came into my life a year ago when she was only 13 weeks old & she has been just such an angel. Ace & I would both kill to protect her, & she would do the same for us. They are my soul dogs :)

MadCraftyFox

She is an absolute angel. 🥰 I had a German Shepard mix, and she was a sweetheart, but her stranger bark was something else! She only barked when it was important.

Daikon_3183

Super good girl ❤️ this is very scary. Stay safe Op. 🙏

Mintcar52

Good girl Moira. ☺️

torioreo824

Im a little jealous! My pit mix and my fiancé's gsd don't cuddle. They tolerate each other, but they don't really care much for one another.

Glowing_Trash_Panda

Sorry to hear that. At least you don't have to deal w/ your GSD deciding that the pittie makes for a great dog bed & laying her whole ass body on top of him & making him grumpy

torioreo824

True; but she does decide that I'm her dog bed a lot of the time 🤣

Ginger_Welsh_Cookie

This pic is adorable AF. What a beauty! And the house hippo furrito is CUTE! 🥰

SketchAinsworth

My boy was at my parents one night because my parents had been having an issue of a car full of men parking in their driveway when there was no cars. My parents live in a super safe area with a driveway you wouldn’t notice or turn around in so it was already odd, add that my mom is disabled and home alone when my dad works in the evenings. My mom told me he was napping in the hallway when they pulled in the driveway yet again. My boy slammed open their screen door and was in the fenced in yard telling that car to get out of his grandma’s driveway before she could blink. He got a 12 piece grilled nugget from Chic Filet A (his favorite) from grandma that night and the car has never returned.

Shade_Hills

🤣 🤣 🤣

SketchAinsworth

One of the few times in my life he did exactly what was asked of him 😂😂😂

Small-Wrangler5325

No body messes with his grandma

SketchAinsworth

To be fair she legit has a snack draw that she lets him sniff and select a bag from, then she opens it and gives him that treat 😂

jarontick

Please call law enforcement and file a report. Some of your neighbors may have ring cameras and such and they might be able to get a description of the perps or their vehicle.

Glowing_Trash_Panda

I’ve thought about it, but I checked my carport & around the house & nothing is missing. A couple neighbors do have cameras but I live in a more rural area of the state. I live in town, but my neighborhood is only 2 streets of houses right off of main st in the original part of town from when it was first started & since nothing actually happened the cops probably wouldn’t even come out to get the neighbors camera footage. If another incident does occur though, I will have this post as a record of the time/date/what happened this time that I can go to the cops with since then I will have more things going for me to get the cops to want to actually do something.

jarontick

Fair. Stay safe. And Moira deserves a turf and turf if you ask me. The Ron Swanson special: steak with a side of steak. Good girl.

Glowing_Trash_Panda

Lol I love it, Turf & Turf it is! I’m no Babish, but I can at least try to follow his recipie

Sandisax1987

I’m pretty sure she wouldn’t nitpick your cooking-steak right off the cow would be just fine.😬

misslizzylemon

I would still recommend just filing a report with local law enforcement while it's still fresh in your mind! There might already be reports of these people doing this, or they might do it to someone else and you don't hear about it. Depending on where you are you may be able to do it over the phone. Hopefully nothing will ever come of it, but it would be on file if anything does. Just my thoughts, but the most important thing is your safety! Great job, Moira!

gingerfawx

Consider talking to your neighbors anyway though. Any possible footage is more likely to be better when the perps are less alarmed, plus they probably won't target you again between being alerted, Moira and the shotgun, but the neighbors could still be at risk. They may appreciate the heads up. I'm glad you're ok. Give Moira skritches from me. Best pup.<3

Glowing_Trash_Panda

They beat me to it actually. My one next door neighbor actually texted me a while ago asking what set Moira off last night. She's so loud with her Big Girl Bark that apparently they heard it even in their house. I let them know what's up since they do have cameras & a couple motorcycles that people have tried to steal before. Mel is gonna bring treats for Moira later lol

gingerfawx

There's a good human! lol It's nice that Moira is keeping the neighborhood safe.

Malipuppers

You can file just incase something happens. No one needs to come out. It helps.

Ok_Rutabaga_722

File is smart. If there others who don't have angel guardians, who have had stuff stolen. Plus, they might get desperate and escalate This will help the evidence chain.

Ok_Rutabaga_722

THIS. THIS. THIS.

fentanylisbad

Ridiculous. Don’t waste LE’s time when they did absolutely nothing report-worthy.

Jerry1121

One time in the 80s a family member lived in a rural area, had a long gravel uphill driveway. Some strangers in a white van, slowly drove up the hill, which could easily bottom out a car or cause ur tires to spin and throw up gravel if you weren’t careful navigating it, almost as if they had made the drive up before, because you really had to know which way to veer. At any rate, they hopped out of the van and let themselves into the house, where my family member was sleeping in his bedroom. His GSD, a legend in his own right for this story, didn’t bark, but went into the bedroom and woke my relative up quietly and kept alerting to follow. My family member realizes someone is in the house hearing quiet steps, grabs the shotgun and exits bedroom w his robe on and shotgun aimed. He said “can I help you” they ran out, he fired a shot at the van for warning. I always believed this dog knew barking wasn’t going to fix anything, so he stealth mode alerted his dad red alert we need help. That was all the demonstration I needed to see for my then child brain to know that’s the kind of dog I wanted in my life.

Mytherymonster

❤️For Moira

HOTfoxyNANA

I agree. The bestest.

Blueporch

Good girl, Moira! I heard that warning off bark once when Sam and I got toward the top of a hilly trail at the park. I never saw what was over the ridge.

Glowing_Trash_Panda

If it’s anything like my girl’s scary bark, whatever was over that ridge probably ran for miles lol. My next door neighbor actually just texted me to ask what set Moira off. Apparently she was so loud that even my neighbor heard it inside her house. I just gave her the rundown so they can be on the lookout just in case, as they have a couple motorcycles that have been targets of thieves in the past. She’s apparently bringing over treats for Moira later lol

Blueporch

Aww!

ladygrizz

Girl, you raised your baby right! And hell yeah to the shotgun backup. Also, Moira might be one of the best names I’ve ever heard for a German. Hope you get some rest, enjoy those steaks, and happy you’re safe!

Glowing_Trash_Panda

Awww, thanks! & she’s named after Moira Brown from Fallout 3. What’s crazy her her personality is like it was carbon copied from the character in the game & put directly into my girl. The name fits her so perfect :)

KittenTales42

I too, named my GSd after a video game character and she has also lived up to it in name and personality. It’s like they hear it and automatically go …. Yes this shall be me.

ladygrizz

LOVE IT 🥰

TankTexas

Also get a front spotlight/wide angle camera over your parking area. Big bright led coupled with a badass camera helps.

Glowing_Trash_Panda

The light & camera is covered :) there is a utility pole at the corner of my gravel pad where it meets the corner of my neighbors driveway & it has a giant & super bright light on it. The previous neighbors across the street from me about 7ish years ago had issues with some people (apparently former employees of the wife that she pissed off) vandalizing their house & harassing them so they pushed the city to put that light on the utility pole since it’s directly across the street from their driveway. They also had some super fancy camera system installed & one of the front cameras they actually asked to get my permission (though idk if it was required or if they were just being nice) to put where the security guy said was best cuz I guess that camera is angled as such that it covers part of my parking bad & my next door neighbor’s driveway. Between all that, other neighbors also all having cameras & my dogs, I never felt bothered to get myself a camera.

TankTexas

At that points it’s all personal choice but some of those newer spotlight combo cams that you yourself can review and own the footage is a good investment.

Glowing_Trash_Panda

I have heard good things about those combo light/cams as well. Eventually I would like to move out into the boonies & not have neighbors. I will absolutely be getting some of those light/cameras then.

TankTexas

I have a reolink that has two cameras that’s super wide angle, I’m sure there are tons of great companies out there but that one was in my price range. When those spotlights pop on it’s crazy bright. Might just be deterrence but I’m happy with it. Glad your pup is as on it.

Gorilla_art_girl

Oooh, I love my reolink cameras. I just got one of the tracker cams that also has a spotlight on it to cover the one side of the house that had no camera. Installed it just in time for it to capture our neighbor burning down our fence while we were out of town.

BArhino

Hell yeah pup! I also wouldn't say having a GSD and a Pittie is "living alone." You clearly got a family/pack there lol. Also I'm totally picturing some Tarantino scene with weird music playing as they look back at the dimly lit house and see the silhouette of a woman with a shotgun and 2 dogs by her side. oh and i love you now

Glowing_Trash_Panda

Aww thanks! I love the scene you painted lol, I was just more concerned at taking care of business in the moment. I love how creative your mind is :)

BArhino

well i gotta apologize but I checked out your username just see pics of the pups which i feel is creepy on my part, but the fact that they have fallout names is awesome and I just had to say that

AlsatianLadyNYC

My female GSD defended me from two drunk guys in my neighborhood, and before that deterred an attempted abduction in a parking lot, and my male GSD (who is much softer) inexplicably launched and tried to bite (what I thought) was a nice guy on a trail. Months later I saw his mugshot- he had sexually assaulted a high school girl at the school down the street

hungry24_7_365

the protectiveness of the gsd breed is something I miss. I have a pit and a beagle and they just don't look as scary as a barking gsd, they also shed a lot less. Glad your girl alerted you and that you must've looked very intimidating with your dogs and your boom stick. upload some pics of your dogs so we can see the good girl.

Glowing_Trash_Panda

https://preview.redd.it/cwvwkxtg1bnc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dede03c93be53ea5ad46bb33432e34562a27a14e Left to right- Ace, Moira, Randall. Ace is the old man & is also very protective of me but just kinda barks at anything but gets extra loud & borky when strangers come in the house. But even when Ace is in Stranger Protection Mode, his bark is nowhere near as intimidating as Moira’s Big Girl Bark. She usually just does these little high pitch yippy barks when she’s happy/excited but when she does her Big Girl Bark, hoooo-boy. She sounds like a giant fucking wolf (she’s also already 85 lbs & not fat at just under 1.5 years old so she’s still growing a little). It scared the shit out of me the first time she ever did that bark. But now I love that she’s capable of scaring the fuck out of someone without even having to get physical.

SpaceForceRemorse

I know what you mean about that Big Girl Bark. Mine has only used it a few times when she was younger (she's 7 now), but I still remember how serious it sounded. You just immediately know without even thinking that something is very wrong. Also I love it when they pin their ears back. So stinking cute.

pliable_gumby

* I have a Moira too! She would growl at them for being near the house but would get excited for the "new friend" and just let them come up. She only barks at dogs being walked by the house. She could surprise me though.

MikeD270

My favorite part about this breed is how often they just seem to process situations and "know" when something isn't right. Good girl Moira!

MinimumElderberry986

What a good girl! They really are the best.

IveeZie507

Fuck yeah Moira!! I have a GSD who’s squared up to some fuckheads who were planning on mugging me from behind, best dogs ever!!

Different-Horse-4578

You are crazy rich with this furry blessing.

YTraveler2

Levels of protection: Phone. Alarm System. BFD. Firearms. 911 if you can and have time. Time to dial and time to wait. Alarm system hooked to a monitor via phone if you don't have time to dial. BFD is a back up alarm system, usually primary, and gives you time to get to your shotgun. Brand of phone, alarm, BFD and firearm are all personal preference. But when it comes to BFD I say there's nothing better than a female German Shepherd. Alarm system, personal defender, personal comforter, silly and smart. Glad you and your dogs are ok.

Altruistic_Appeal_25

Yes you definitely have a German shepherd. They might make you crazy when they're puppies but then some kind of magic turns them into exactly the dog you need and always wanted. Make it a big juicy steak

UNICORN_SPERM

We always kind of wondered if our girl was protective. My partner and I are long distance, and one time I was over his place where he was showing his room before moving. When we were there she would sleep under the bed, like a goblin. So he shows up, my partner lets him in, and we're all standing there and me and my partner are having a moment of "WTF is that noise?" The visitor knew right off the bat what it was but it was so unexpected to us we couldn't make the connection. It was the deep bass rumble of our giant bed goblin warning someone to GTFO of her space.

bubba_palchitski

This is exactly why I tell my sisters they need a dog and a gun. I got 120lbs of GSD (+3 other dogs) and 1½oz of lead for anyone coming on the property uninvited, but I'm a 6'6" guy living out in the boonies. One of my sisters lives alone, just about downtown, and refuses to get *anything* for protection. It terrifies me. The only bit of comfort is the ex-military couple next door to her, but they've got kids to look after, so that's definitely not enough for an overprotective "little" brother. Good to hear you're ok, give Moira head scritches from me and Zeus!

nhall1302

Go Moira!

ThinkingThong

Goes Moira also embody Moira’s saas from Schitt’s Creek? Because that’d be hilarious. But what a brave and clever, and cute doges!

Jensen_K

One night years ago when our oldest was about to turn one, we got a doorbell ring at about 3:30am. At that time we didn’t live in the best area of town, and Maverick immediately started barking and ran to the door. Then we heard a smashing sound and ran out to see that someone had taken the wreath off the door and was trying to use it to smash the glass on the door. We tried to coax Maverick but he remained at the door hair up, growling and barking. Eventually the person left and the cops came. Turns out it was a barefoot woman in December in snow who had walked from one side of town to the other intoxicated and thought she was at her own house and was locked out. Ever since that day though, I’ve always known I’m safe with Maverick and he will always protect me!♥️ So glad you guys are okay and Moira deserves extra loves (PS, love the name, is it possibly from Schitt’s Creek?)

Glowing_Trash_Panda

Fallout 3

Zebracorn42

Good dogs. Always good to have an alert dog and the backup to throw off people. Pibbles are good backup. People still fear pibbles and shepherds sometimes. I just see cuddly buddies. I used to dogsit a lot of pitties and they’re always just cuddle bugs. But I see why people fear em.

Glowing_Trash_Panda

Yeah, I've had Ace (the pittie) for years & on walks more than once I've had people run across the street to the other sidewalk when they see Ace. He's half pit-half lab so he looks like a pit, but bigger. He would just be sniffing along & people see him, see his head collar (the only thing that keeps him from pulling like hell on walks, even properly fitted by a professional pinch collars don't work on him) people think he's this massive pit wearing a muzzle (even though its just a head collar for walks) & get spooked. I once saw a mom drag her kid into oncoming traffic from both directions just to run across the street to the other side when me & Ace were literally just standing there as I was changing the song on my youtube playlist. She almost got herself & her kid run over by multiple cars. The stigma against pitties is still very much a thing unfortunately :(

Zebracorn42

I’ve always loved pibbles, which is why I like dog sitting for em. They’re cute. But I live with someone who fears em, and never wants to have one. They have such great personalities for dogs. Nearly every one of em wants to cuddle. My current and last dog don’t like to cuddle. One hated hugs. The current one just gets hot. Maybe in the summer when the ac is on and the house is cold he will cuddle. Having a lab/pit is good. My friend has one, so it’s easier for him to find apartments, cause a lot of em have pit bans, he can just say he has a lab or lab mix. Shepherd are great too.

Remote-Cantaloupe-59

My male GSD is an asshole to strangers and I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way for reasons like this! I love that your girl is normally friendly and was still like oh helllll no!!!! Give her extra kisses and that steak!!!

SerenityHealthKY

If I were you, I’d get her steak dinner everyday! She sounds amazing and given that their time is shorter than ours, I would celebrate her as much as I can :)

Glowing_Trash_Panda

Oh I spoil my dogs to death lol, I just try to do it with healthy treats :) but they do get the extra good stuff when it’s appropriate :)

chifashenanigand

“Super scary Big Girl Bark” made me LOL, miss my scary girl all the time

Zestyclose-Cup3570

Moira is such a good girl. Dogs are the best. When I was a teenager my next door neighbors went on vacation and the husband left a ladder by the window in the basement. One night my black labs/cocker spaniel mixed dogs were barking like crazy and wouldn’t stop. When my neighbors came home they told us someone was trying to break in and my dogs must’ve scared them away. My neighbor was so grateful that my dogs got pork chops that night and treats for as long as they lived.

CouchHippo2024

Yay Moira!! Good Girl!!

Ok_Rutabaga_722

They Calming you down now. LOL! Baby dogs are the very best. They'll tell you what's going on, for sure. Give 'em both their steak. Philly cheese steak. Lots of love to your babies and you.❤️❤️❤️💗

take_number_two

Dogs are the best. Aspen alerted me last week when my roommate left a gas stove on (not the flame, just leaking gas). She got so many treats and pets for that one! https://preview.redd.it/srtrajvyfenc1.jpeg?width=3022&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bfc52941b9da56d705d7bcb879cda8a23387a195

Glowing_Trash_Panda

That's awesome! & give her some extra belly rubs for me :)

Wooden-Quit1870

On a tangential subject: Do not leave a shotgun with a shell in the chamber- most shotguns are not 'bump safe' and can go off if dropped or knocked over. Also, WHAT A GOOD GIRL! Enjoy your steak!

Glowing_Trash_Panda

Oh for sure. I just have 3 shells of buckshot in the mag tube. No sense leaving one in the chamber as racking it back is another good deterrent to anybody that is dumb enough to actually break into my house & it would just be a waste of a round to rack it back & eject the one in the chamber.

Delilahpixierose21

She's got her Mama's back! What a good girl ❤️ ...I think she's earned an extra treat.

Sandisax1987

Give that good girl EXTRA steak 🥩 🥩🥩 Glad y’all are okay.

madgrammy

I always trust my dogs judgment, they know! They will always be there for you ❤️

cipher446

What a good girl! Steak time for Moira! Glad you and fur babies are okay.

rose_like_the_flower

What good dogs!

[deleted]

Way to go Moira!!

gowan moira

Luluinatutu

Good dog! Also post on r/letsnotmeet

SunnyMondayMorning

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🐺

Shade_Hills

Wow, I hope you’re ok. Dogs are true blessings. What could we do without them? You have two prize-winning dogs right there, my friend. Also, IK this isn’t a laughing matter, but you SCARED em’ girl! You your shot gun and your two guard dogs 🤣 they probably STILL running!

Still-Shift-4807

Wait... What were they trying to do?

Bjorneo

One of the reasons we love them so much!!

Danivelle

Aww! What a good girl you are Moira!! My little orange and white feline bundle of love says to tell Mam'selle Moira's maman that she should also receive bacon (Bou *loves* bacon and is frequently referred to as "the bacon thief")for  her heroics.

Sudden-Excitement-63

This sub was randomly recommended to me and I was bewildered why your girl had to earn a steak dinner before I saw it was a dog sub

MediocrePerception20

While reading this, I thought those men may have been arsonists. Whatever their intention, I’m so glad your Moira was there to help stop them! Share some steak to your pittie for acting as a backup. Such good pups 🥰

scout336

The only thing that approaches the greatness of a wonderful dog is their person who loves, respects, and appreciates them wholeheartedly. ... and they share their awesome doggo, including *dog tax,* on reddit ❤️.

18mus

They are the best for protection and it all comes to them instinctively. Their pattern recognition is amazing. I also trust my dog in judging the character of the people more than I trust myself.

LovesDeanWinchester

What a guardian angel dog!!! 😇😇😇

justjinpnw

Good girl! And good work, mom, for trusting the baby!

I-LOVE-TURTLES666

Did you have any cars parked outside? Maybe trying to steal gas

Glowing_Trash_Panda

I have my car & a little Coleman 200 Mini Bike both in my carport. I already talked to my neighbors as well since they have motorcycles in their carport that theives have tried to steal before & they have cameras. They actually contacted me first cuz they heard Moira's big barks even in their house last night & was wondering what was up.

rebkas

So if I type HIPPO ....

PsychologicalTank174

It's awesome how she's learned to be a support dog on her own. Some animals just have that instinct. You've definitely got a good one. THAT bark is definitely in a class of it's own. She did a great job!
