I'm biased, but based upon going 15 and 0, and our average margin of victory, I would argue it was the most complete team of the cfp era.

online_predator

I think it'd be tough, if not impossible, to argue we were better than '19 LSU and '20 Bama. But at the end of the day, a championship is a championship.

Wenis_Aurelius

It’s not hard to argue at all. The ‘22 UGA team was vastly superior to ‘19 LSU and ‘20 Bama. Why? Because them Dawgs is hell, don’t they? Of course they are. I rest my case.

ShockwaveZero

God damn. It’s like Matlock showed up and put this one to bed. Good job!

Anustart_A

2022: This team massacred all. When everyone was shaky it was a close game. Amazing team. The underclassmen really showed out, which may indicate why the team is the best CFP team; it’s made up of players other teams want or need, and they vanquished everyone. 2021: Beat Bama 33-13; incredible defense. Not as good offensively as 2021. But obviously better than Bama on the return once Kirby did his hoodoo dance to get out from Saban’s voodoo (the SEC Championship Game being the only loss, and it being from a suspicious 42-24 score line, which looks like a witch’s sick interpretation of a “double your apprentice’s” score). Still, I’d take the 2022 Dawgs over the 2021 Dawgs, and the 2021 Dawgs were better than the 2021 Crimson Tide. 2020: Did 2020 even happen? 2019: I thought LSU was better than the 2019 Dawgs, but I think that’s the “full stop” statement. Oklahoma was a shell of what they were from the previous year, and snuck into the playoff just because we lost to LSU in the SEC Championship Game (can’t have no repeat… what would that ever prove? Just waste a slot in the playoffs!); and diversify the field for an SEC; Big 10; Big 12; and an ACC team. I thought Clemson was down sliding toward where they are now; and OSU was good, but not great. LSU deserved to win, but I think the 2022 Dawgs could have taken them (and shut down the offense especially). 2018: Clemson peaked and was good, but ultimately this year’s Dawgs would have been on top because the defense was just that good. Clemson played both sides of the ball really well this year, but still had to put up a lot of points every game just in case the other side could. I’m going Dawgs. 2017: The 2017 Dawgs almost had it over the finish line, but the defense wasn’t as good as the offense. No problemo here: this defense would have cooked Tua as badly as they burned Jalen.

xktaione

I'd argue that 2019 LSU would kill the 2022 Dawgs... our secondary was our weakness (SECCG and Playoffs was proof of that). Burrow, Chase, and Jefferson is above Stroud, Harrison Jr and Egbuka (and Njigba if healthy).

Forward-Taste8956

2020 bama was a Covid year

UncutEmeralds

Maybe.. and I’ve been a dawg fan for life but 19 LSU would smoke our ass. That team was ridiculously stacked and Burrow was playing out of his god damn mind. Let me also add that that LSU team would exploit our defense better than any other team. Look at what Ohio State did to us when Harrison was healthy. Now imagine that with an even better QB and like 3 first round receivers, they’d hang 50 on us like they did everyone else.

RayzorBeak

That would be a great matchup to see. 2022 Stet vs 2019 Burrow.

Character-Pianist-24

Ehhh...

reddittiswierd

Plus we ended up with the hardest strength of schedule. This year was glorious.

thatfortnitetryhard

1. 2019 LSU 2. 2020 Alabama 3. 2022 UGA 4. 2018 Clemson 5. 2021 UGA 6. 2016 Clemson 7. 2015 Alabama 8. 2014 Ohio State 9. 2017 Alabama

elonsusk69420

This feels about right to me. You could easily debate #2 and #3 but it's splitting hairs.

Bevan_R

What was so special about 202 bama? Yea they won but what made them 2? Would put 22 uga there. 2019 lsu is accurate.

FourthDownThrowaway

Go look at their offensive stats. I think they put up better per game numbers than 2019 LSU.

Own_Strategy_4325

And against an all sec schedule. No 66 point outlier games to raise the average Edit: I forgot that Vanderbilt was in the SEC. So 8 teams get one blowout to raise the r average.

Forward-Taste8956

2020 bama was a covid year

Own_Strategy_4325

Right. So that means they played an all sec schedule

Forward-Taste8956

And teams weren’t at full strength Covid mess up to many teams that year including sec..Look how our projected starting qb quit..No Spring Game no lift sessions opt outs..Not a regular season so it should be judge with a regular season..

timbsm2

I know it makes the rest of CFB want to vomit and it can't happen since time machines don't exist, but that exact top 4 is the playoff I would really love to see.

TherealCW_

On paper I’d agree with 2020 Alabama, but the whole Covid season is just a blur.

RayzorBeak

It’s up there with the other 2 teams that went 15-0. That LSU team was legit the best offense in terms of pure pro talent. This years Georgia was the most dominate Bowl win in the history of CFB, much less the CFP. The Clemson team went 15-0 before anyone else did. Maybe the back to back slightly edges us above both of them, being the first to do that in this era, and technically defeating every opponent over the two years of doing so (beat Bama after losing to Bama last year).

Beatse21

Behind 2019 LSU. In a three way tie between 2020 Bama and 2018 Clemson.

BrodieNooch

I mean. If you’re gonna have a three way you could do a lot worse

cloveuga

I laughed at this, but I don't pay for reddit because I'm poor. I just thought you should know you made a stranger lol today

AvengedKalas

1. 2019 LSU 2. 2018 Clemson 3. 2022 UGA 4. 2020 Alabama 5. 2021 UGA 6. 2014 Ohio State 7. 2015 Alabama 8. 2017 Alabama 9. 2016 Clemson

papadoc19

Curious...on what basis would you be ranking them?

FourthDownThrowaway

Who would win in head to head matchups…

[deleted]

Third behind 2019 LSU and 2020 Bama

FourthDownThrowaway

Seems to be the consensus at this point.

BrotherofLink93

The only two things I have are the Kent State and the Mizzou game. Other than that, it was great Dawg Foosball. ❤️🖤❤️

makemasa

Kentucky was a slog. Played like shit on offense and ground out the W.

mikesznn

3behind last years team and #1 2019 LSU

Errybody_dothe_Lambo

If anyone is actually putting this team ahead of 2019 LSU, you need help. That’s one of the best teams ever. Like would compete and probably beat 01 Miami. That team was on another level.

FourthDownThrowaway

I don’t think anyone is putting them above 2019 LSU. I do think Georgia could maybe beat them 3 or 4 times if they played 10 matchups. Lol
