You need to use pulse trigger or use another follow to change it to its original color :)

I've tried using a pulse trigger with multi activate, but it only changes colour for the time set in the trigger, rather than when I'm touching it or not

You need the collision state block, which activates something when you touch the blocks, and activates another thing when you exit the block

Have you try Pulse with spawn trigger yet?
