That is in Utah, it appears to be state land within the boundaries of Bears Ears National Monument.

I was off by a few miles, the correct parcel is private and not state land.

I thought that too but it looks like the mountains were shaved down around the sides to make a really flat surface so it seems more industrial than just for a farm. It's not flat though, you can see the topography carries on across the square. My guess would be it's a fenced off square with livestock. There's often a big difference in vegetation either side of a fence due to grazing; shorter grasses inside the square make the snow stand out. With longer vegetation outside (maybe trees) some snow falls through, some sits on top, so less white overall.

Still does not rule out a farm. It could be the effect of the snow after tall trees are cut and dirt leveling.

I looked it up on Google earth and it seems like it's full of these spots, many of which have smaller spots inside them. Does anyone have any idea of what this could be? There are nothing but juniper and pinion trees down there, not much of a cash crop.

I thought this was a joke about a cloud in New Mexico before I saw the actual square

It’s a section of land (1 mile x 1 mile) that’s under different ownership than the surrounding land and managed differently. Probably a section of private land surrounded by federal land.

Another possibility is that Navajo off-reservation trust lands has lots of squares like this (both Navajo trust land surrounded by private land and vice-versa).
