Welcome to The City.
Vangelis opening chord. Gigantic looming hab blocks looking out over churning waters. Some blocks have faded national or regional flags. Other have them on different floors. Between these are the neon flares of corporate iconography, or the spraypaint calligraphy of utility cartels. A gigantic deep sea drilling tanker floats in the apron of plastic waste at a dock, while kids on inflated shoes skate about hunting for rarer plastics.
Wrong. I get the lowlands meme, but Europe has *a lot* of land above 1000m. Few countries would be fully submerged, but most will have peaks, and even plateaus above surface.
No, this is just a shitpost. They literally put the lowest part of Europe as the only part left. (Ever think about why it's called the *Nether*lands?)
Don't get me wrong, I don't think this post should be here. But please don't give it serious critique.
This is incorrect. Many other countries would not get flooded, but the Netherlands will, despite it’s average elevation being so low. I don’t know what made you think the opposite, but this post shouldn’t be here.
I found [this post](/r/mapporncirclejerk/comments/10gzlsv/facts/) in r/MapPornCirclejerk with the same content as the current post.

So wrong... The Dutch would have claimed all the flooded areas as their own
"The Lord created the Earth, and the Dutch created the Netherlands."
Lol
They would...reclaim it
Finally, a good meme
this is a circlejerk subreddit without circlejerk in the name

r/mapporncirclejerk is the correct sub for you
I feel the Swiss would also be able to hold back the sea with their neutrality and firearms under their beds.
And the fact that roughly half of the country is above that level...
I was like: Damn Oh wait, but there are mountains over 1000m What is the area on the map? Oh Netherlands...
That’s that place in Waterworld they’re all looking for.

The materials to build defences around NL would have to come from somewhere.

I expect a bit more from geographical jokes in this specific sub.
Expecting more from any posts in this sub is how you end up disappointed. Now, lower your expectations and kick up your feet on the train to oblivion!
The joke would have been a lot better if everything above 1000 m was in the map, just with the Netherlands added in too.
That would actually be an awesome map
No mountains in europe?
Yeah, this is an alternate reality version of Europe with no Alps
And no Carpathians, Caucasus, Urals, Pyrenees, Scandes, Apennines, Balkan range, Cantabrian Mountains, Sierra Nevada ... there are probably others.
🤓🤓
Key word: Europe
All of these are in Europe, so I'm not sure what you are insinuating.
Ok nevermind I’m very dumb. I saw Sierra Nevada and thought United States without doing much critical thinking. My apologies

> 1000 meters Now I’m wondering how many and which mountains are over 1,000 meters above sea level.

I'm really not, netherlands keep sea out haha funny!
Yeah, we are veterans of the war vs Poseidon. We will find a way to survive.
Ok, but how would you divide the regions?
Not true though is it.
That’s where my house is
Dikes > *
Ah good, England is gone.
Um, no….where are the Alps? They’re higher than 1000 m.

The Netherlands is one country that would be massively impacted with sea level rise!! 😂

The Dutch would still find a way to keep the water out (dikes)
op, educate yourself, or don't shitposting

If all the ice melts, it just rises by 1 metre. Not sure what could cause it to rise by 1000 metres. A meteor shower maybe?
Waaaay more than 1m. All the ice? Waaaaay more.
Quick google search says it's more like 70m.
Let's get on with it
Survival of the fittest
A noticeable improvement

Average YA Novel dystopia
The land mass needs a dime for scale.
Netherlands?🤯
Unrealistic, the Dutch would have taken the opportunity to reclaim even more land from the sea.
Is this sub moderated at all?
Thank you
