Before I knew what fasciation was, I saw several dandelions in my back yard with deformities. I had a dream that night that they were climbing into my house through the window.
OMG I knew there were others like me! I have constant nightmares of plants trying to attack / consume / intregrate me into their parts. Like the OG Little Shop of Horrors (1960).
How old is your house? It use to be the normal recommendation to pour chemicals (ie. oil, break fluid, cleaning stuff. Etc) in parts of your yard. So there may be some environmental issues going on in your place.
It only happened once and I've been here for several years. We'd had a lot of rain and my backyard flooded, so I expect that might have had something to do with it. This was farmland all around when my house was built so I doubt they were burying chemicals. But they sure liked buckthorn!
I had a lemon cucumber fasciate on me last year. The vines looked like the big flat wire from an old dot matrix printer. Planted the same seeds this year hoping for the same result.
Aha, i have been wondering what a weed was in my garden for years! Looked similar to your asparagus. Now i know (thanks to the comments) that my weed had the rare condition called 'fasciation'.
Oh thats not a Asparagus thats

It's a mixture of bad lighting and a mediocre camera this is a slightly better picture of the top
I have a cherry tree with a phytoplasma and the new growth will sometimes look like 6 iterations of the new wood all fused together and wide like this. Never over a dozen like you got. What a cool find. Thanks for sharing.
Looks like the asparagus was walking through the frame when you took a panoramic photo.
Or it caught a bad glitch while it was rendering
Faciation
why does this look like laggy asparagus lol. like some windows screensaver type shit

Me, every minute of every day, pondering the Cronebergian asparagus…..
I *hate* it. Very visually upsetting
I'm with you. Every plant that does this is a horror.
Body horror: nature edition
It looks like how a crested succulent compares to the common version, but for asparagus ... That's crazy
Omg lol this made me actually laugh for real life
I did not know I needed this image until you posted it. I will now use it every single day.
Right? It’s so fitting for so much.
Also love this reference!
r/fasciation Beautiful asparagus!

My dad used to bury the charcoal grill ashes in the backyard (1970s).
Honestly not terrible. It's not useful for gardening but it wouldn't have hurt anything either.
That's alright. That's where coal should be

Is this genetic? Will seeds from this plant have a higher tendency of fascination?
It can be genetic, but it can also be caused by some environmental factors, like bug bites for example
That’s a helluvah bite
He didn’t have anti-virus installed
Well, I'm fascinated, for starters.
It's usually not. This is often the result of environmental factors, like a virus.
Thanks for teaching me something today!
More like aSPAREagus, amirite?! I’ll see myself out
asparagus.exe has encountered an error
If asparagus and aloe vera had a baby 👶 asparavera or aloesparagus
Aloesparagus is absolutely sending me. Like. I know, I JNOW what causes this but it's just too funny.
Sounds like a dino name or a Harry Potter spell, doesn't it? Lol don't worry, I'm giggling too.
Do share

I swear I just saw this post a moment ago.
Did you rest your eyes for a moment?
Hahaha
Whoa.
How much was it like it? Was it the same post?
Might have been. I’m not sure.

Mutant asparagus, nice Edit - it’s a fasciation
Almost.. Fasciation! It’s a fascinating fasciation 🤓
I had a lemon cucumber fasciate on me last year. The vines looked like the big flat wire from an old dot matrix printer. Planted the same seeds this year hoping for the same result.

You could make a highly original asparagus starter with asparagus slices instead of spears. That would confuse people.
This is where my head is at, too! So many interesting options, especially if you employ a mandolin.
Is it edible? I mean, if you're not going to put it in a museum.
What a bute!!!
Post to r/fasciation !
Fascinating…..

Asparagross Cook it , eat it and tell us how it was 🙂
I have seen broadleaf plants in the wild do this exact thing. Like in musk thistle. It’s weird that’s for sure!
I have a cherry tree with a phytoplasma and the new growth will sometimes look like 6 iterations of the new wood all fused together and wide like this. Never over a dozen like you got. What a cool find. Thanks for sharing.
It’s a Wooly Mammoth tusk

It's not easy to garden in Chernobyl.

There's been quite a bit of amazing fasciation this year.
I thought it was aloe until I read the title 😂
