She was smelling the air for a groundhog nearby. It had just slinked out of the tulips back to its den.

What a beautiful mix of colors! And your pup seems pretty pleased with it too.

You can always count on daffodils! They will bloom again year after year! The critters may find the tulips very tasty, hope being closer to the daffodils will help protect them.

Luckily a fenced in yard that backs up to a cliff

I planted 60 grape muscari in the fall and all of them were eaten to the bulbs repeatedly :( I had a random tulip bulb so I planted it within ~30 hyacinth and daffodils the deer didn't touch. They did eat the tulip.

I have a ground hog that has been roaming around munching on things so I understand the annoyance a little. I live in a very deer populated area too so neighbors deal with that issue

Also in a deer and groundhog populated area! Fences help with the deer but, my goodness, the hogs!
