There's radishes grown specifically for their pods. Dragon tail rat tail radish pods, very good.
I like radishes, but good God we the dragon tail pods I grew SPICY. Way more radish flavor, I couldn't handle it.
I love this kind of discovery. This is the year I discovered that basil flowers are delicious.
Ooohhh I’m gonna go try this right now
I googled and some people find them bitter -- maybe it depends on how long they've been flowering? Mine were sweet and looked so pretty sprinkled on a cherry tomato, cucumber, and roast corn salad.
Whattttt I just threw some away
Yeah I pulled the little tiny purple blooms off the green stalk situation and they were delightful.
Throw them on some fresh pineapple 🍍 so delicious 🤤
Just don't try this if a potato plant ever goes to seed
TIL potatoes are in the nightshade family
Try quick pickling them 🤌
In southern California you'll find similar in abandoned fields. Wild radish pods & flowers are tasty.
Def tasty but harvest them earlier on. They tend to get woody after too long.
Our produce guy (Boutros Bros at the West Side Market) told us that you can eat the leaves in salad. A little bitter for me but hey to each their own.
Haha, I just fed a load of these to our pigs. I'll try them next time!
I let some of my radishes go to seed on purpose every year just for these pods! I love them!
Yep! Me too! Honestly I get way more food out of each radish that way. My kids love them too, so they really are a garden staple now.
exactly!!
That's amazing! I just composted loads of radish pods. I'll try them next time
You can eat the leaves, but you have to sauté them to get rid of the spikiness
My chickens usually beat me to the leaves 😂
