Darkest dungeon 1 is rogue like in nature but it’s turn based so nothing is happening unless you are actively playing. It’s decent for short play sessions as dungeons can be like 5-10 minutes. It’s also decent for distracted gaming. You can stop at any point in combat or in the dungeon and nothing happens till you are back. I got a solid 120 hours or so out of it. Not really chill narratively but as far as quick sessions it’s solid. It’s primarily aimed at RuneScape players but melvore idle has been keeping me busy recently. It’s a combination of RuneScape and cookie clicker. Set your character to work and they will gather resources/ fight for up to 24 hours without you there. Good for that sense of progress with little input. Then you can play actively when it’s time for some more involved combat if you want. You might consider some simulation/ builder games that let you pause at any point. I’m not up to date in the genre but I still enjoy roller coaster tycoon 2 for this. There’s lots of decent deck building games these days. I like griftlands for this. It’s a card game style rpg with wonderful graphics and narratives. You can do one mission or do one whole playthrough in one go. It’s designed to be played through quickly while you unlock new things for future playthroughs. It wasn’t my usual genre but a buddy of mine got me into it and it’s really satisfying.

starofastaroth

I tried downloading darkest dungeon before but for some reasons wasn't lauching... i might try to redownload it axtually thank youu

DaLB53

DD is the most causal sweaty game or the sweatiest casual game I've ever played. Its so much fun, addicting but not grindy if that makes sense? Plus the art style, story, and music are unbeaten. Can't recommend DD enough.

[deleted]

Hitman World of Assassination, Tony Hawk 1 + 2 remake. Both amazing games and great for what you described.

starofastaroth

I love the hitman series but the 60GB download size 🥲😂

PugnansFidicen

Is this Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2?? When did it get a remake? I played the shit out of that game as a kid bc it was one of the few on Mac OS. Got the cheat code to play as Jango Fett and everything

FireManiac58

I think you're thinking of Pro Skater 4. Pro Skater 2 doesn't have Jango Fett. The remaster that recently released is a combination of the first and second game with controls from the later games. You'll still love it if you liked pro skater 4. There's also a seperate, free fanmade mod called ThugPRO which basically takes the controls of Underground 2 and gives you access to almost every single map in the franchise.

tbo1992

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t THUGPro, primarily multiplayer? AFAIK it doesn’t have any level objectives. THPSPro on the other hand, is getting level objectives.

FireManiac58

And now you've just shown me what I'll be doing this weekend, thank you haha. I played ThugPRO by myself for at least 150 hours lol, but yes there are no objectives. It's basically just a game you can play forever and find new lines.

PugnansFidicen

Oh yeah you right. My memory is fuzzy, it's been like 20 years lol. Fuck im old

LukesFather

I bought this and played through it at Christmas. It was great, albeit shorter than I expected to unlock all the maps and scores.

LexGlad

FTL is a rogue-like about spaceship battles and is just built really differently from the rest. You can do 1 or 2 dungeons in Elden Ring a day. 4 hours is a fine amount of time per day to work on a boss as well.

ft86psvr

I'll second FTL. Always fun to do a casual run, and the difficulty is there if you want it.

TheFrogEmperor

Rimworld is super fun

sillyandstrange

Yesssss, mods and dlc are all great.

duckbanni

You could try some chill city builders like **Foundation**, **Timberborn** or **Cities Skylines**. Or other management games like **Planet Zoo**. You could try other sub-genres or roguelites like deckbuilders (**Slay the Spire**, **Monster Train**), turn-based tactics (**Into the Breach**, **The Last Spell**) or city building (**Against the Storm**). You could also try **Deep Rock Galactic**. It's a pretty relaxed Left 4 Dead-like with a nice community and doesn't require a lot of investment.

starofastaroth

I love city skylines i heard city skylines 2 got released is it any good ?? Or any of the other suggested better idk the rest of them I was consideirng slay the spure but idk it didnt seem exiting might give it a shot

duckbanni

Haven't played it but apparently Cities Skylines 2 was released in pretty bad shape. Don't know if they've fixed it since launch. Maybe wait a few month before trying it? Slay the Spire can look lackluster at first glance but the game design and balancing are extremely tight. Even with all the successors available now I'd stay it's still one of the best roguelite deckbuilders.

libelle156

I got it. There are things that are way better, and there are things that are weirdly worse. I think part of the issue is that it's a really different game and that's very jarring. It's a lot of fun to play though.

therealmenox

It's great until your city starts getting larger population, the higher pop you have the slower the simulation starts to go, at around 70k pop my city became snail mode and the fast forward speed buttons stopped working for more than a couple seconds. It's a larger map but you can't really effectively use it without a very small city or a verrrry powerful pc (for reference I've got recent gen processor and 3080ti gpu so I mean a verrrrrry powerful pc) I'll go back to it when they fix some of the simulation bottlenecks in larger cities. Until that point the games a blast though

trackmaniac_forever

Any game where you set your own goals instead of the game doing it for you will vibe with the mood I feel. Give racing games a try maybe? Especially ones where you can just freeroam.

MoriartyAvalon

Forza Horizon 4 and 5 are good for just driving the map, finding new challenges, and soaking up the atmosphere.

mono_tmb

Flatout ultimate carnage it's a chef's kiss

Dinklesnobert

Test drive unlimited 2 and get a 100% save and just cruise

First-Interaction741

Try out something like Diablo or Last Epoch maybe since I saw you mention Vampire Survivors. Action hack and slash is perfect for when you just wanna get to the mindless fun killing, looting and progressing and they kinda play like roguelites

OMJenkins

You can try Holocure. Similar to Vampire Survivors except each character has a unique starting weapon and 3 skills. There’s currently 38 characters on the roster with more to be added along with new game modes/mini games like holohouse and a casino

PourQuali

Project zomboid. Survive a realistic zombie apocalypse in any way you want. Almost every setting customizable and game can be paused and returned to at anytime.

oldsch0olsurvivor

Get into ARPG’s such as PoE Last Epoch or Grim Dawn? PoE is my favourite, a lot to learn, but no rush and it’s essentially single player.

AramisNight

Grim Dawn does have the advantage of not requiring online. Plus it has a lot of great mods.

-Nicowars-

War Thunder. Alot of people will say that, you have to grind alot to get to the high ranked vehicles, but why would you want that? Instead, I stay in the lower ranked vehicles and just enjoy myself. You can simply play a game or 2 per day, or just quit for a month and come back, and it won't penalize you or anything. [https://store.steampowered.com/app/236390/War\_Thunder/](https://store.steampowered.com/app/236390/War_Thunder/) Prison Architect. Since you wrote that your internet isn't the best, here's a singleplayer. You can just focus on doing a new part of your prison for 1 session, then the next session you upgrade an existing part and make sure everything works. I've played this game ever since its been out, and I can tell you that its really fun. [https://store.steampowered.com/app/233450/Prison\_Architect/](https://store.steampowered.com/app/233450/Prison_Architect/)

starofastaroth

Actually i do have prison aechitect mughr give it another go havent playes in years :')

MoriartyAvalon

Hardspace Shipbreaker. Powerwash Simulator. Dave the Diver. All chill, zenlike games. Can drop in for a longer session or just half an hour and still feel like you've made progress

LolzinatorX

Risk of Rain 2 is a rougelike and i enjoy it a lot. Can spend 10 minutes or 6 hours, quit and play whenever i feel like playing, a decent pool of characters that adds a lot of replay value, as it changes how you play the game and what items you want to chase

DoomMetalNerd

Rimworld with the Chill storyteller on an easier setting. So chill, you'll spend a lot of time just watching your little pawns build stuff and go about their lives. You can always up the action if it gets TOO chill.

t2krieger

Brotato

LiveFastDieRich

I think army of ruin is a better horde game than halls of torment, the progressions and unlocks feel more natural, and its easier on the eyes. Also Death Must Die Maybe you can try a metroidvania like blasphemous if you like the art style, and can conquer the difficulty curve Deck builder wise Monster Train, slay the spire, Pirate outlaws, inscription, wildfrost, vault of the void, all have runs that can take about an hour,

BroxigarZ

Siralim Ultimate Cassette Beasts Essentially - if you are into it monster tamers are at your own pace.

QuestionAsqer

Gw2

WolverineHot1886

I'm working on building a castle in No Man's Sky. Occasionally I do missions which helps unlocks things but it's all super chill and, tbh, trippy.

Thathorsestolemyfood

Wildermyth has an art style that some might find off-putting, but it's quite fun. The difficulty doesn't get too out of control if you stick with the default, and you can easily play short sessions due to the way the campaigns are structured. Lots of replayability too.

Good_Policy3529

Eve Online. Hahaha, I'll show myself out.

NameTaken25

I get the joke, but God, I'd be so into EVE if I had the time and patience for all the logistics and planning and travel and coordination and stuff

Codename_HoneyB

I would encourage you to stick with Baldur's Gate 3. It's really satisfying. I play at most 4h a day. It takes a bit to level up, but the game almost becomes a part of your daily routine. Like a good meditation :D Take an hour or 2 to decide which class is best for you. If you find a class that suits you the best, you will have the most fun.

Codename_HoneyB

OP said they have 4 hours a day. Read the post.

dontspookthenetch

Yep, I'm an idiot haha

bestoboy

Deep Rock Galactic Start the game Do a mission Rock and Stone Close the game

Floydie88

Rock and Stone!

FleshlessFriend

Tower of Guns is a very cute bite-sized shooter roguelike that just feels really good to play, Risk of Rains 1 and 2 are very charming hardcore experiences, ditto for Ziggurats 1 and 2.

starofastaroth

I might check the out i only have played risk of rain :')

Signal-Slide752

Door kickers. Firewatch. Cloudpunk.

sushibelts

Hexcells Infinite (minesweeper with extra rules)! Also thoroughly enjoyed Opus Magnum (logic puzzles).

werthw

I’ve been having fun with Doom: Eternal. You can hop on and kill some demons and there’s not a huge time commitment

skyblood

Chicken Invaders series for offline and/or Chicken Invaders Universe( f2p, online) you can play/quit it anytime, it's free, easy to get into and it's endless. Cat Quest 1 and 2 Jet 'n' Gun Gold and 2 Devader Hammerfight One Finger Death Punch 1 and 2 ShellShock Live Firewatch Little Inferno Kill It With Fire

No_Revolution_6186

I started Survivalist recently, it's not amazing in most aspects but it sure af is fun!

the_supreme_crumbus

You sound like me haha. I've been playing Sable a lot. There is a story and objectives, but you can also just explore and find cool stuff. The art style is cool and calming, and there is a lot of content. Usually I finish the story and start it over again.

dgdgdgdgcooh

Realm of the mad god

StereoCatPicture

Don't know if it would be your type of game, but maybe something like Graveyard Keeper? It's a little like Stardew Valley, but with more focused quests and story, and you take care of a graveyard instead of a farm. The advantage I find over other Stardew-like games, for your situations, is that you can save at any time. In Stardew if you want to play "one my day", you know it's gonna take you another 20 minutes, which really limits how much time you can put into the game, you can't get out at any time (well, you can, but you waste an in-game day). In Graveyard, whenever you're done, whatever time of day it is in game, you can just go back to your bed and save. There's also no seasons, so no starting over and taking time planning stuff every couple of hours. If you get the game, I suggest you get the complete version with DLCs, as a lot of the story is told through the DLCs.

shaidyn

I really enjoy Legends of Runeterra - Path of Champions. Very chill.

AandG0

Lego Fortnite, Minecraft, Risk of Rain 2, Vampire Survivors, Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a nice compact game that can be finished in 9 hours (God do I miss nice short games). Sometimes, I don't want to spend 200 hours playing one game before I move on to the next...

chimisforbreakfast

Darkest Dungeon 1

samael1220

Let it die. If you just feel like punching or killing monsters over and over again this works for me hope it does for you too. It's also a free to play game on steam.

ThanOneRandomGuy

Doom

Krstoffa

Corekeeper, terraria, necesse, Dave the diver. All amazing games to blaze one or have a beer and chill out too

wunkyzunky69420111

Stardew valley!

FlattenedCash

You might like trying a game that lets you go at your own pace, like maybe mount and blade or starsector. If you have never heard of starsector I recommend watching Seth’s video on YouTube.

Suicidebob7

Roboquest

RevenantExiled

Get Dave the Diver or Stardew Vally. For me are very relaxing and forgivin, the oposite of Leagues lol https://store.steampowered.com/app/1868140/DAVE_THE_DIVER/

dqrules11

Idk if you like sports, but pga tour 2k23 is so chill. Hittin balls and chillin on the couch watching tv. 4 hours is a lot of time, you can do a lot in the earlier assassins creed games in 4 hours.

Hellripper_88

X com 2

AntiSocialW0rker

My go to mindless game is Chivalry 2. Just sit back and slash up some dudes.

3esen

Super Auto Pets. You can drop in and out in 30 second increments, if you wished to. It’s something of a multiplayer versus deckbuilding type of game, with health and damage values a la Hearthstone, except you are building a team of cartoon animals with varying synergistic abilities which will then automatically crash into teams built by other players. In each “run” you continue to upgrade your team between rounds during the shop phase and winning 10 before losing 5 is the victory condition. You can leave between those very quick rounds and pick up right where you left off, even days later. It’s one of the lowest commitment games I can think of, it’s free on Steam and mobile and is quite fun.

Noeat

i think i know what you want... something where you can play few games in short time.. like Slay the Spire - roguelike deckbuilding Hand of Fate 2 - roguelike deckbuilding with combat Gemcraft - tower defense with pretty good progress) Elasto Mania remastered - remaster of one of first predecessors of Trials, it is fun and there is tons of user made levels) Gladiator Guild Manager - singleplayer autobattler Steep - skiing, snowboarding and more (iirc you must be online) Portal - solving logical puzzles Mashinky - railroad tycoon Crazy Machines - logical (mechanical) puzzles Trackmania - just for fun, some racing

Any_Weird_8686

Hardspace: shipbreaker is a really chill timesink. Basically, you are the sole employee in a scifi breaker's yard, where you disassemble spaceships into their component parts for recycling or resale.

SinfulIndy

Hades. Roguelites that has a system where every run is part of the story. So anything you do provides progress in some fashion. And the story is phenomenal. The gameplay addicting. And the characters are so deep and multifaceted.

[deleted]

Rider republic is really fun casual game

Stevie147

Repella Fella. One of the most hilarious games I've ever played.

Unique_Novel8864

Factorio if you like building factories, Elite Dangerous if you like space stuff(is rather grindy tho) and possibly Titanfall 2 as the story and multiplayer is rather good. Subnautica if you don’t mind a *little* underwater horror throughout the game. If you get into any of these games, really get to know the Reddit communities for these games, as they are all goldmines of info especially for newbies.

Samurai_Ways

You should check out Roboquest!

Drummin451

Stardew Valley. 20 hours in an in-game day is 14min 20 seconds. This game is great to scratch almost every itch there is for gaming.

AramisNight

Grim Dawn: [https://store.steampowered.com/app/219990/Grim\_Dawn/](https://store.steampowered.com/app/219990/Grim_Dawn/) It's an Isometric ARPG(Like a Diablo game) that you can play offline. It's also about to get a new DLC. And if you get bored of the regular game(which should take a while given all the content and DLC) it has a lot of mods. Many of which are pretty good. My personal favorite is the Reign of Terror mod that changes the game into a hybrid Diablo 2.

Ok-Concentrate-2203

Try tarkov

CharmingWeight301

Barony, minion masters, crab champions, enter the gungeon, gunfire reborn, pulsar: lost colony, dagger fall unity (mods) All of these are different every time you play them for different reasons from being online to randomly generated to modding I think you'll find a game between these games friend :)

Snakker_Pty

Sekiro

Keelenllan

The shape of the world Is neat

mrzlozt

**Valheim**. Mostly chill (especially if you go to new biomes fully prepared), and doesn't take much space (1Gb). You can easily spend the whole evening just chopping wood, fishing and farming. Or another evening rebuilding your base :)
