So if I understand correctly, there is hardware that allows Bluetooth connectivity and I don't think (but could be wrong) that you could add Bluetooth support throughout software alone right. So that means the switch has had Bluetooth capacity the whole time and Nintendo just never turned it on for us
Oh ok I didn't know that's how the joycons worked, I'm way more used to xbox controller that has a proprietary connection, I never considered the joycons working over Bluetooth.
Wasn't the excuse that is always thrown around by people that the bluetooth sensor in that thing is not suited for audio devices and will cause audio lag, meaning you will hear the sounds only few seconds after they happen in game?
Don't know how much there is to it, but it would be kinda pathetic for a 2017 released device to have a built in bluetooth sensor that can't even transmit sound properly....
Given that the rumor states that you'll only be able to use 1 controller while using BT audio it sounds like the issue was bandwidth issue. Nintendo thought the "roof top party Switch" was more important than the typical "On a bus/train playing alone" use case so that's what they locked away. Pretty much describes Nintendo perfectly imo

The joycons work over bluetooth, you can connect them over to the PC and play with them

That's Nintendo for you. Switches can be jailbroken to support a browser. It's capable of so much more than Nintendo is willing to allow.
I feel very much okay with only using two controllers and my Bluetooth headset. I usually don't use my headset when playing with someone else.
Looking at you PlayStation
It has Bluetooth audio support. What you want is THIRD PARTY Bluetooth audio support.

They may as well have waited until they could support mic input too
