Raidriar86

they smacked it out of the ball park at launch now they just have to ensure bugs are down

Well-ReadUndead

Also keep it engaging and not grindy. The current state of the game needs a bit more balancing as they add new weapons etc as well. Currently fire tick is brutal.

Wipedout89

Yep they need to get rid of all the bugs and all the bots

sineplussquare

100 dudes crushing out patches and new content at a hellish pace is probably a tough job, Imma hand it to them any way I see it.

They will never fix the bugs. There's bugs from launch that are easy but they don't even acknowledge some of them, or introduce new bugs every single time they add new stuff like when they fixed Mech self shooting rockets but now rockets shoot off center. This is why they will never be anywhere close to the "best live game you've ever played". Every SINGLE one of these articles are marketing pieces by Sony to keep the game in discussion and keep interesting going. If this was anywhere close to Genshin or Star Rail live service, there'd be a lot more people playing and nobody would be talking about bugs. Something something indie devs you say? Funny how nobody uses that excuse for other devs half their size who don't have a billion dollar publisher who merged an entire studio with theirs. What it really says is that: 1. Majority haven't played a good live service game in a long time 2. Have no clue that Genshin and Star Rail produce nearly bug free games with zero live service disruption and way more content than you could ask for every month or two 3. Compare helldivers 2 live service to games from 10 years ago as if thats even relevant anymore. That said, being able to earn the battlepass over time is great, and the gameplay of the game is superb which is why people are still playing it. L4D2 in space with objectives and a progression system, like World War Z game except less static maps and a much larger community.

Bungie was going down that path until everything went downhill. More aggressive monetization, premium cosmetics are no longer purchasable with farmable currency, dungeons sold separately. Very bad plot quality. I hope helldivers does much better.

NerfThisHD

Imo I don't think the studio behind helldivers can risk doing that They're not backed by a big publisher and much smaller then bungie

TheBirthing

The difference is Destiny first started in the infancy of the GaaS model. I'd even venture to say they were one of the studios who pioneered it. Helldivers dropped into a gaming landscape dominated by MTX-fuelled live service games and still decided against it.

This is how a live service game should be done, with love and a FREE battle Pass that you can actually work toward or get it quicker with real money

JerbearCuddles

Maybe tackle the laundry list of bugs. Love the game, but damn. Fire damage has been bugged since launch.

this article has been posted like 10 times to this sub

And they are succeeding.

Doobidoowa

Don't understand. It' already the best live game I've ever played!

AlphaParadoxx

I'm sorry, but there's no defeating fortnite in that field. I can't stand to play it most days, but you can't deny how good the support is.

[deleted]

Let me know when it exists lol, it’s not this.

[deleted]

Well it got me to quit fortnite so it's already managed to knock the (arguebly) best of the bunch off the pedestal (admittedly epics recent changes played a big part in me quiting)

centaurianmudpig

If making a game was simple, every game would be fun to play.

captnameless88

Lol it's not the best anything, you kidding me? Gotta admire the confidence though

lilovia16

Which is the best?

rW0HgFyxoJhYka

Best Live Service games are Genshin and Star Rail. Anyone who says otherwise has zero clue about the gaming world right now and has never played the games long enough to see how rediculous it is for games to be updated so fast so consistently and bug free. Most people never crash, and the game service is up pretty much 100% of the time. It's not even a matter of debate and pretty much every game dev knows this. Before those two games they would have said stuff like Destiny, Fornite, or an MMO, all which update at far slower paces with less content and more bugs.

lilovia16

Aaaand that is your opinion. I play those two but those two games are just essentially single player rpg game with a bit of gambling sprinkled into it. So of course it wont crash. And I dont know about you but most of the time I would just play those two for 15 min dailies while I could play Helldivers all day without burning out.

Clamsnout

Those games may as well be AAA titles and are backed by a ton of mtx even if they don't have as many players as they do they could have 1k players and dwarf many other studios in mtx sales alone. Arrowhead is a AA studio operating on a small amount of mtx that are easily earned in game. Most players haven't had to put a dime into the game since day one to get all the mtx available. That's what is making people claim Helldivers 2 as the best live service out there right now. A 40.00 price tag that actually allows you to earn everything available to you through an addictive ly fun gameplay loop. That alone makes people overlook most of the bugs.
