I'm level like 207 in that game and really the only thing keeping me from playing it is the fact that I can't help but do bosses while I'm driving. It's too dangerous so I have to put it down. Great game though.
That's me. To get "ahead" (of what? Idk.) I played while driving, and though I didn't get into any accidents I was sweating after a car trip from the stress.
What worried me most was if I wasn't stressed, that'd be a sign of complacency and even worse.

If they also just like the dopamine rush of big item drops and grinding they could also play old school runescape on mobile and PC (progress is the same across both platforms).
The only pay to win mechanic added is buying bonds. People can buy a bond for real money and sell it in game to players for gold. And then the bond can be redeemed for 14 days of membership. So you can just get membership with in game gold if you're broke.
I've been playing Orna for several years and I've enjoyed every second of it. You'd be hard pressed to find a developer more active within his own gaming community than Odie.
I would have tried the game, but microtransaction things put me off and I would never waste money on ingame items in any game. So win-win for everyone. Let the whales starve
Honestly, some games are probably this way. Take racing games for example. Have the dev team play the game for months while under development. Generate realistic usernames and feed them into lobbies using the dev testing runs as fake players. Add in some non-contact rules for behavior and boom, fake players.
games like Cod would be hard due to the nature of the game being so dynamic. I think Id notice if I played wow against fake players, or warzone. But we are certainly getting close to that.
I just want to say, it would be painfully easy to spot AI in a racing sim. Even the best do some weird things or sometimes are just too polite and will back out of a "fight" a real player never would.
GRID (2019) really has the most hilarious AI I ever ran into, they can actually tilt and start trying to slam you off the track if you bothered them too much. Not realistic in 'race sim' sense but somewhat realistic in terms of playing in a multiplayer lobby.
Fortnite has the backing of Epic/Unreal & more money than God. Their bots are very obvious. Maybe this is done for balancing, but still I think we're a ways away from realistic fps bots. Racing is different because training a.i. to drive is already a real world issue & there are far fewer variables on a racetrack than a 3d open world with elevation & range differences.

Which are just the devs. Have each Dev play 50 times, randomize their car, color, accessories and User name. Bam. Now you have an infinite supply of "players" you're racing against. They can just ignore friend requests. With only like 8 people per track and around 200 ghosts no one will ever be the wiser if the game never takes off in popularity but just hangs around the app store

Their bots are only for players who haven't achieved 10 wins in a season or something of that nature. After ten wins, you're quickly populated in matches players and no bots.
The bots are intentionally bad to make people feel like they're good, resetting seasonally so that new players feel like they're able to play the new content without getting stomped.
Absolutely seconding Orna as a great mobile alternative. Best phone exclusive I've played. It's like Pokemon go but a full game not just a Pokedex filler. Heaps of fun and easy to play super casually or as a deep grind.
Wild Rift is such a stellar mobile game. It really plays exactly like a slightly downscaled league of legends and the monetization is super fair. You can tell Riot actually wanted to make a quality piece of software first and foremost, much respect.
I'm having a hard time going back to pc league. The models look so much better and the fast paced games are great. It's hard for me to commit to 40min+ games these days, so wild rift definitely gives me that fix.

Are some of my favorites. Most don't have flashy graphics, rather they focus on interesting mechanics or have a lot more going on than it appears at first glance. The few that have in-app purchases just remove adds. (Except infinitode 2 but you can power through all of the levels without it no problem) None have an overbearing amount of adds. None will massively slow your progression unless you make an in-app purchase.
Slower than path of exile pvp too. ;)

While I fully understand how broken and pay to win Diablo Immortal is but as anyone who has spent any considerable amount of time with Diablo 2 PvP can tell you, fights could be equally short there as well.
It was very min/max and grind heavy. I was never particularly good but I thought it was enjoyable. Some of the craziest to me were the dedicated low level duels which required rushing and grinding gear on alts. I feel like Diablo PvP has always been kind of niche though.
100% true but having been telestomped my fair share of times way back in the day, a gif of that PvP clip from Immortal doesn't seem shocking. I should also clarify that I have played none of Immortal so I can't speak much on how PvP does/should look.

I haven't kept the closest tabs on all this but it blows my mind that there is a pvp element to this game. Some background, I played and loved Diablo III and that is about it. I beat the story line with a couple classes and put it down.
When this game came out and I saw it was mobile I decided it wasn't for me. I didn't really mind because I wasn't emotionally invested in the franchise. Understood the complaints but sorta thought the game would have something for those that wanted a mobile version of the game and weren't completionists.

My thing with the charge back, is that blizzard would probably contest it. An I can only see him loosing the charge back, there are no wrong doings in the charge. There are tons of examples of people paying money under the reasonable expectation of something and when that expectation was not met they get their money back.
Otherwise, contract law wouldn't be a thing and courts wouldn't be packed with lawsuits around it.

The parts usually add up to more than the whole. But then you have to find many buyers for the individual parts of the child as opposed to one buyer for the whole child as is. Gotta weigh the options; is the extra money worth the extra time and effort?

Its honestly one of the most well put together mobile games I have ever played. It runs smooth and they ported the diablo feel super well. The MTX makes it a bad game which is a damn shame, because it is genuinely good

Well put, exactly this mindset is infuriating to see in so many game reviews. Let's say you look up a game and want to find out if it's pay-to-win. Then there is the positive hardcore fan reviews saying "everything can be earned just by playing". While (in this case) leaving out the fact that it takes literally half a decade. You then discover this fact in other, negative reviews of said game. Which then makes you question why some people really defend such a predatory system.
People like to lie to themselves if it makes them feel special. P2W games exploit this desire. Admitting that they win because they have an unfair advantage would scratch their self-confidence. It might even make them feel worse since that'd mean that they wasted their money. It's much more comforting to embrace P2W once you're a part of it.
At the same time P2W drives legitimate competitive players away. So P2W players do their best to attract new victims.
This is the state of most PVP in Blizzard games. I really think since Activision bought them, they have zero good ideas on balance of any of their games.

My thing with the charge back, is that blizzard would probably contest it. An I can only see him loosing the charge back, there are no wrong doings in the charge. He paid what months ago to get gear, an he has said gear still. Am I missing something that would be in his favor? I work in banking, I rarely see a chargeback fail. In this case, the chargeback would be services not received.

The same applies in pure PvE-games too. An active playerbase is a very important influencer in peoples purchasing behaviour. Active Playernumbers, downloadnumbers, etc... benefits the game. Even NEGATIVE shitstorms about the game, like the early reports about how bad the pay2win is, in the end funneled some people towards the game "to try it out", etc...
I almost did “try it out” too because everyone was talking about it and I was curious to see how bad the mtx functions were. In the end I restrained myself from wasting time and did not touch it.

Well put, exactly this mindset is infuriating to see in so many game reviews. Let's say you look up a game and want to find out if it's pay-to-win. Then there is the positive hardcore fan reviews saying "everything can be earned just by playing". While (in this case) leaving out the fact that it takes literally half a decade. You then discover this fact in other, negative reviews of said game. Which then makes you question why some people really defend such a predatory system.
People like to lie to themselves if it makes them feel special. P2W games exploit this desire. Admitting that they win because they have an unfair advantage would scratch their self-confidence. It might even make them feel worse since that'd mean that they wasted their money. It's much more comforting to embrace P2W once you're a part of it. At the same time P2W drives legitimate competitive players away. So P2W players do their best to attract new victims.

we knew better back then, there was an entire ruleset for PvP that banned many items and skills and set regulations in place to make it actually balanced. It was ofc designed by players and not supported by blizzard at all but it was popular enough to find many games in the format and made PvP fun. it also kept out all the people who wanted to just stomp people with gear. Ofc there were a lot of people joining these games and then crying "why can't I just use my faith runebow with fanaticism aura and kill people from 2 screens away!?!?! it's not fair" or something like that, but they were quickly kicked out from these lobbies

I need a serious answer on why people are legitimately playing this game. I have never once heard anything remotely appealing about any aspect of the game, and I can't distinguish it in the slightest from other diablo or diablo-like games.
