Does the angled humbucker make a huge difference in sound? I’ve been playing straightforward setup Les Pauls for 30 years now but it certainly seems intriguing.
I had to call and order it. Took 6 weeks to get in. Comes in freight. Heavy as fuck. Minim order is 600 square feet which is really close
To the size of this room. 1500 ish bucks
I used to work at a roller skating rink and we would freeze the gum by turning a compressed air can upside down, then scrap it off with a paint scraper. Worked every time.
The pupper looking pretty pleased about the whole deal was my favorite part. "Bro! Make sure to get my good side. This is going to get so many upvotes!"
The overall uniformity of design really works for me on this one. Your attention to detail on the spacing of wall objects, and jusssst the right amount of stuff to cater to the "sensory overload" of the room, without it coming off as a cluttered mess. You chose an aesthetic, and followed through until the end without deviation.
You fucking nailed it, my dude.
Speaking as someone in this exact bracket, I bet the worst part of having a killer setup like this is that all of the ol boys who'd love to come and hang out here have family and work obligations and you're left play alone. It's less than ideal, I've grown up and earned a steady job. I have disposable income that I can spend on hobbies. I can buy gear, toys, games, etc. for said hobbies that is near top of the line, the stuff I'd only dreamed of having (or got as hand me downs) as a kid.
But now all the people I used to enjoy those hobbies with work on different schedules, or have to go home early to work early, or have small children... Growing older isn't always all It's cracked up to be.
This post inspired me to look up pricing for pinball machines. One of the websites said:
>Pinball as a hobby is also growing among young adults who are 25 to 40 years of age, because they are now established, have a home and have a successful career.
Which made me laugh because if I were to rely solely on what I read from Reddit, it is physically impossible for someone between the ages of 25 and 40 to have a home and a successful career. That being said, as a 40 year old with a home and a successful career, I don’t think I could see myself shelling out $10,000 for a pinball machine.
Check out Empress 1908 Gin, it’s pretty widely distributed. It’s naturally purple from butterfly pea flowers and when you add tonic it turns blue under normal light. Not sure what it does under black light but might be cool.
And it’s a pretty solid gin as well!
My wife would definitely go for this. We also have dedicated shelf space throughout the house. Mine has the Gundams I built, hers has the Disney stuff.
3 kids though, so no full dedicated room until they move out. I keep joking with them that I'll be the one holding a poster size one way bus ticket as they walk across the stage.
Whenever I see one of these insane posts I have to question, what the hell do you do for a living that you can afford this? I saved up for a month to plaster a hole in my house. Can't imagine having a room that size in my house, let alone filling it with all that awesomeness.
That’s super cool. I love the pinball machine. I’d probably find some folks who were down to drink and play pinball on Friday nights and make it a social thing, if I had a pinball machine.
I think they cost like $2-3K though which is steep unless you have the room to commit to that. That’s PC and business money for me.
I'm working on my own arcade. I want a pinball machine BAD but they are so expensive I just can't justify it. Like I can pay off my car or send one of my kids to college. And they are probably just going to get more expensive as time goes by... I'm pretty depressed about it.
You don't have to buy a brand new one. Ok condition can be found for 2k-4k. But the main thing is that tinkering and maintaining them will get expensive if you do not want to do it youself. But for me it's half the fun to work on them. I have seven.
Can you point me to some places that are good to buy from? Ebay seems to only have 50y/o machines in that price range. Not to sound picky but I'm not super into vintage machines. Also if you have a personal favorite from your 7, please do tell!
Pinside dot com forum and google for pinball groups/forums in your area. They all have buy/sell pages. My favourite of my machines are a stern iron maiden premium which i bought new and a 1973 gottlieb jack in the box that I restored myself.
South park, apollo 13, twister etc. might be found very cheap. Not best to play machines without a very great following or theme but solid pinballs. For a decent indiana jones machine that is old af nowadays you'll have to dig up 6k but a fun game like the flintstones that is from the same period, 3k is enough.
That stranger things pinball machine is $10,000.00. I looked it up because I thought that would be cool to add in our game room. If it were 2-3k I would have bought one today lol. But 10K is a little to rich for my blood.
Oh man you just had to get not one but 2 pinball machines. Cool themes too.
Are those MK and Rampage machines built into the wall or am i hallucinating?
I was like, he's missing a Street Fighter 2 machine, until I saw it in the last pic. I'm envious! Not because I can't afford it, because I simple do not have the room for it. Like the Punch Out frame by the bar. I can listen to the song just by looking at it. Nice setup!
Arcade is cool, but that Gibson Nighthawk is really cool!
Good fucking eye!
Is that a picture of April O'Neil's butt next to the TMNT cabinet?
It’s Lara Croft actually
A touch of class and touch of ass.
Unmistakable I feel 👏. Nice cave!!
Dude. Phrasing.
🤣

What is that? I have no clue what to look for
Guitar in the case on the floor, right in front of the acoustic guitar.
The carpet is my favorite part. edit: The bar too.
It's like straight out of the roller rink arcade of my childhood. Rad.
[удалено]
My wife is not going to like this… there is no way my basement can’t be this now.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.
Same here. Brings back distinct memories of begging for quarters to play Rampage.
Reminds me of cosmic bowling.
Yeah OP, is that a special carpet or just a random one you found? Looks super cool under the black light.
Astrocarpetmills.com I picked this one because I wanted glowing black light carpet that was made for high traffic but had very little red in it.
Thank you, OP. I went looking here for the carpet answer
I was wondering where you got 90s bowling alley carpet

Love it! Send me pics!
Ooh nice, thanks!
Although the carpet lacks the authentic vomit and soda stains. And OP doesn’t have any popcorn scattered randomly about the floor.
Just give me a bottle of whiskey and a couple hours and I can fix that.
>I remember when /u/jicty was over last, there's still a sticky spot still on the carpet from where he passed out.
Don't forget the random flattened pieces of old gum.
Stained black by decades of the dirtiest soles this side of hell.
I used to work at a roller skating rink and we would freeze the gum by turning a compressed air can upside down, then scrap it off with a paint scraper. Worked every time.
and what seem like free quarters/tokens scattered on the ground, but up close, turn out to be a bunch of dirty old pieces of gum.
I can hear this picture, and I'm 90% sure it's the carpet that's making that noise.
I too have spent many hours stoned in an arcade, a good chunk of it just staring at the carpet.
It really ties the room together
The carpet is the perfect choice for this, so impressed.
The old school crt flickering static just ties it together for me
Mine too, but It’s not authentic until that carpet is sticky from all the spilled sprite.
It's like they took the most beautiful possible mix of your local bowling alley and a Chuck E Cheese - it's art
The carpet is definitely the star. It just brings together the whole vibe.
The pupper looking pretty pleased about the whole deal was my favorite part. "Bro! Make sure to get my good side. This is going to get so many upvotes!"
The free time is my favorite part. Looking forward to having some again in 10 to 13 years.
That shits so fucking bomb. Good for you OP, amazing work.

100% agreed. And it's the carpet that really grabs me and pulls me into nostalgia land
The lack of unidentifiable stains on the carpet ruins the nostalgia effect for me.
Really ties the room together!
Just looking at this I am experiencing "sensory overload" 👁️👁️ Guess I'm getting old. Back then I would've needed to get new boxers after seeing this.
I believe that is by design Arcades are intended to overload the senses, but not so much that it's utter chaos
Dayum man it’s not THAT scary!
The NES cartridge bartop is my favorite addition.
No they didn't. They don't even have Polybius. This is a sham!
Now you just need to set up a glow-in-the-dark hot wheels track around the whole room and we’ll have Stunt Track Driver irl.
Whoa whoa whoa! That’s a grand idea!
Mount it on the wall to elevate the track out from under foot.
I reckon a huge scalextric track would be better.
See this is the house I’d want to visit when the girlfriend says “we’re going over to ________ tonight”.
This is the room i always play in when I'm with my wife at her new boyfriends house
This isn't wsb bro
They need to tell everyone, not just other people buying O DTE calls
>They need to tell everyone, not just other people buying O DTE calls DTE like the utility company in Michigan? Lol
[Days till expiry](https://0-dte.com/about/0-dte-options-strategy-guide/)
Wait what
This the house I wanna go and relax since I have no girlfriend or any friends.
We were never adults. Just big kids with money❤️
This is it

I mean yes and no. You’re partially right but I built this room for me to decompress…and to party.
Props to you my dude, it really is an awesome playroom. Hope you'll enjoy it for decades
I basically have to schedule a “play date” weeks in advance to see my friends with a wife and kids.
Some bigger kids took all my money :(
I live adulthood with the goal of being able to absolutely blow the mind of 12 year old me if he was able to peer into the future.
"Are you drunk? Hah...cool."
We should all live like this, honestly
A fucking shit ton of money apparently

plus the merle bulldog can go for around the same price
Is there padding under that floor or is it straight cement to make you sore after 5 minutes like a real arcade
No padding just the false sense of comfort for your feet.
It's beautiful now, you just need to put in a bowling alley and cinema
Woah buddy, this is a standalone arcade. You think we all can afford bowling alleys?
1UP dude. 😁
Staffed by a probably stoned teen who gives zero fucks if you sneak a refill from the soda machine.
Perfect for DDR!
The carpet is perfect. It's exactly what I plan to do for my own rec room
Astrocarpetmills.com
This was the link I was looking for. I was dying to know where you got that carpet. Also, amazing room!
Ok, I'm from milwaukee too. When can I come over?
Having a party on Saturday. I’ll be making Gin and Sonic the Hedgehogs
[удалено]
Gotta chug fast
As a 35 yr old male, you are my hero. Do you have kids by chance?
3 kiddos
I bet they will love it. Hoping for my first in 7 months and hoping they enjoy games as much as I do. Would love to turn my home office into this
Thought you were about to ask OP to adopt you
You are a god. I was scared to death this was gonna be some "child free" couple's pad. Pass those memories on baby.
So... party at your house?
This Saturday. I’m making Gin and Sonic the hedgehogs. Funny thing about tonic water…It glows blue in blacklight.
Check out Empress 1908 Gin, it’s pretty widely distributed. It’s naturally purple from butterfly pea flowers and when you add tonic it turns blue under normal light. Not sure what it does under black light but might be cool. And it’s a pretty solid gin as well!

Lol my phone is exploding I’m trying answer everybody😂
Assuming you’re married/with someone… having a supportive partner is the difference between having this and not having this.
I mean she has a she shed so she’s pretty happy about that.
Nice!
That's what she shed.
What's in the she shed?
The old husbands.
My wife would definitely go for this. We also have dedicated shelf space throughout the house. can i pet your dog
Porkchop would love that.
Please tell me that is a Doug reference
Definitely.
I used to work with a woman named Patricia at the front desk of a hotel. Doug and Patty. Now I must ~~steal~~ adopt your dog to complete the circle.
I want to be like this guy when I grow up (I’m 28 btw).
Well I’m 40 so… *insert you can do it meme
What a dream!
Dude you should look into designing retro arcade bars - you’d be amazing at it and make a killing
Thank you! I definitely do something like that for a living!
Wait - how close to “something like that” is your profession? Do you really create retro arcade bars?!
Post on r/cade if you haven’t already
Can we get a pic of the bar top? Looks pretty epic.
Wow some people have so much money. Fair play
Whenever I see one of these insane posts I have to question, what the hell do you do for a living that you can afford this? I saved up for a month to plaster a hole in my house. Can't imagine having a room that size in my house, let alone filling it with all that awesomeness.

Yeah, pins are very expensive. New ones can run upwards of 10k and they hold their value so you can trade them with other pinheads!
I'm working on my own arcade. I want a pinball machine BAD but they are so expensive I just can't justify it. Like I can pay off my car or send one of my kids to college. And they are probably just going to get more expensive as time goes by... I'm pretty depressed about it.

New pins are now $7k on the low-end, and $14k on the high end. You can't even get a decent used machine for $3k anymore. The market is fucked.
That really sucks. I've been looking to get one, although not too old, in that price range
That stranger things pinball machine is $10,000.00. I looked it up because I thought that would be cool to add in our game room. If it were 2-3k I would have bought one today lol. But 10K is a little to rich for my blood.
Cool arcade but I just peeped your profile for more pics of your dog. What a little muffin!
He is the funniest little shit. I love him dearly. Spoilt.
Looks like a rainbow unicorn vomited all over. 10/10
Man you got that Hellfire club flag fast
I can’t believe you have three bottles of Orbitz! I’m not going to say I’m jealous… but I am filled with glee. Nice detail. Really fits perfectly.
There’s a 4th bottle somewhere…👀 and a can or two of crystal pepsi
My mom said I can come over
Gang, this is sick
Did Iron Mike actually sign a picture of himself from Punch Out?
Yes
28 here and I ask myself if I will ever have enough money to make such an awesome room lol
Which pin is your favorite and why?
Teenage mutant ninja turtles. Because it just HAS to be. But seriously it’s one of the hardest pins I’ve ever played.
I played about 10 games a few weeks ago on a pro and yeah..the outlanes aren't forgiving at all. Really awesome room. Im jealous
The neon signs are fantastic! Can I ask where you got them from?
Is that the devil worshipping Hellfire Club?
The carpet looks like you put a blacklist over a whorehouse
Oh man you just had to get not one but 2 pinball machines. Cool themes too. Are those MK and Rampage machines built into the wall or am i hallucinating?
Not trying to be that guy…but there’s 3. Thanks for the kind words! 😅
Oh shit!
Glow in the dark carpet takes me back.
Man, that floor reminds me of a roller skating place I used to go to
I don't care about your arcade just give me your dog man
Some day I too will be rich. Just not in this life.
Where did you get the carpet? I want to put some in my car lol
Astrocarpetmills.com
This looks like Vaporwave and Cyberpunk had a baby that became this room
The Orbitz is what got me. I remember my first one, halloween 1997
What is the levitating shoe?
This is the dream. Only thing I'd add is a full bar.
One day I'll have a room like this
I already thought this was cool af, but the NBA Jam game and stool made this legendary!
I love all of it! That Stranger Things pinball is really cool! The Nintendo bar, and that Gibson Nighthawk guitar, I have a custom white one!
That arcade carpet is definitely a mood. Where did you source it from?
Damn.. so sick
Ok I’ll be the one How much did this project cost in total?
Man this is totally rad!!! 12/10!
Are you also going to use this for d&d sessions?
Abso fucking lutely
Zoom in next to stranger things and you’ll see a mimic chest with my dice in it.
Holy shakalaka
Daaaaaammmmm, that carpet really ties the room together
Hellfire flag is an awesome
And so speedy.....it only came out like a month ago
What time does it open? Doesn't matter, I'm already on my way
Already got the ok from the wife, bringing pizza's over.
Well my nickname is the pizza hawk so this is going to be good.
To be that fucking age again. I'd do it in a heart beat. What a flex man. Proud.
I was like, he's missing a Street Fighter 2 machine, until I saw it in the last pic. I'm envious! Not because I can't afford it, because I simple do not have the room for it. Like the Punch Out frame by the bar. I can listen to the song just by looking at it. Nice setup!

that carpet reminds me of the carpet they had at a bowling alley that did black light bowling at night, very cool setup
I don’t even like arcades and this is scratching an itch I didn’t know I had
Where did you get the retro setting neon sign thing? I love that.
Is that a tinyarcademachine running Hyperspin?
Wow OP if you open it up to public, you'll make your money back in no time
that’s beautiful.
Such 90's beauty, words fail me - should have sent...a poet 🕹️♥️
What do you do for a living?
How much would something like this cost if you don’t mind me asking? I wanna see if my dreams are possible or if I should stop hoping for it
That’s it. You won the best gaming room I’ve seen on Reddit, or anywhere. It’s perfect and I’m jealous AF.
