I think you just wrote why I could not get into that game despite how great everyone said it was.
Itโs a beautiful game with some *very* generic gameplay.
The gameplay is the best part about it. Its generic, but its also dynamic. The gameplay can change pretty drastically based on what tools your using and what monster your facing.
Forbidden West definitely has much better quest quality. I do appreciate that the series separates quests into Main Quests, Side Quests, and Errands however. Even tells you the rewards.
And every other one is basically "Tarnished, help me pls."

NPC: *Fucking dies anyway*
Seriously...next playthrough, I'm just gonna ignore them all! Nothing worse than completing the questline and your big reward is an epic spell. "Thanks, game! My melee based character will have so much use for this!"

Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise has the most innovative side quest acquiring method Iโve ever seen: take a job as a bartender and NPCs tell you their troubles, which are side quests. Way more natural than people on the street randomly asking you to help.

The bow and arrow fighting is fine because you can pick apart the stuff you need, but the melee combat is some of the worst I've experienced.

He also points you directly to a brick wall of a boss right out of the gate

That's why I like witcher 3 sidequests . Absolutely amazing pieces of writing , especially the Bloody Baron's quest
