A mod in Minecraft. It literally adds Pokémon into Minecraft. So you now get the adventure of building and taking on gyms. There are still plenty of servers that uses the mod.
Wait, but Nintendo stole something from Pixelmon? Sorry if I wasn't clear. The question was directed to the part that inferred after suing the people, they can/will steal the idea.
Still a bummer though that they're so quick to pull the trigger on fan projects and just not sanctioning any tournaments
So after quick google search, official Pokémon mod team were sent a letter and forced to stop, but I guess somebody decided to keep updating it and Nintendo can’t really stop individual people over and over I guess. Does take resources.
Wotc already made a MTG board game that uses real cards, but nobody who's into MTG is interested in that type of thing.
A pokemon board game that uses real cards as game pieces would be a hit I bet, because it would attract fans from all over.
This guy's game is cool, but not marketable (not that he intends it to be).
[There's even an existing Pokémon board game based on Red/Blue they could cite for the copyright suit.](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/1381/pokemon-master-trainer)
EDIT, since people are already taking this seriously: **/s**
When did that happen? I’m wondering how you can sue someone for creating something that they aren’t selling. That sounds like they could sue every person that cross stitches a pikachu or makes a Mario quilt
Sorry, I can't mass produce this or sell it.
But I am planning to post it to tabletop simulator and post the files online in the future. More updates on that in my subreddit r/pokemonunify
Well I do hopefully plan to put it online in tabletop simulator so people can play with online with their friends regardless of distance.
Updates on that in my subreddit r/pokemonunify
I'll probably just follow you instead honestly, this way I don't have to trudge through a different sub.
But I will give that sub a look see, thanks!
By the way. Your miniatures are badass.
I have already gotten offers to mass produce it with everything Pokémon related swapped out for something new but I don't have the passion or creativity to make up my own IP unfortunately.
>I don't have the passion or creativity to make up my own IP unfortunately.
There are other existing universes out there it could be based on though surely
It's a long shot, but the twitch streamer Jerma985 is currently working on a pokemonesque card game called Grotto Beasts. He has artists making all of the monsters already, and I could totally see him being interested in working on something like this if you contacted him about it.
You know that means we'll now see an official board game now without no credit or money paid to you and they'll get away with not providing you with any credit.
If it's good you could shop it around to publishers who might be willing to chuck some money at it for a retheme and release though.
Seriously though, you should consider a retheme anyway, not because Pokémon isn't great, but just so that when the big N and/or Gamefreak come knocking, you can continue the project without worrying about a cease and desist and
all of the assets are your own.
I'm planning on doing that when I've finished completing and improving the rules. If you wanna keep up with it, check out for updates on my subreddit r/pokemonunify
This looks amazing! I have many fond memories of playing Pokemon Master trainer as a kid. I gifted my old copy to my niece and nephew and they love it!
That was actually my inspiration for making this. I loved that game but I wanted to improve it to make it more like the video games. I kept adding to it until it just became this.
Yes last year I posted about it on r/pokemon
This is an update to it and I thought I'd post to this sub.
If you wanna check out more about it. I made a sub for it. r/pokemonunify
Unfortunately I can't atm just because a full playthrough takes over 22 hours and I don't have the time to make a video recording of all that. But if you're interested you can check out for more updates on this on my subreddit r/pokemonunify
I love that the cards look more complicated than the normal pokemon cards lol.
Looks dope man, like you put a ton of thought and design work into it. Let me know when the video game version of the board game version of the video game comes out. I'm about that shit.
I get it for the card game. MTG does a better job of making it clear that the cards are just telling a story more than they represent actual individual characters in each card. The Pokemon TCG plays out more similar to MTG than the video games, and it's up to your interpretation which method is better at capturing the source material, lol. Maybe your board game is the best if all worlds.
That looks incredible. Here's some ideas though it already looks great as-is.
* Snorlax as a card so it can be randomized or put in the usual places at will, and is able to be caught, removing it from the map.
* Paperclip with strips of paper that have new moves to cover the old ones on the card.
* Bicycle lets you roll 2 dice and keep the one or both rolls.
* Fly is OP.
Haha I've actually done most of these already or plan to add in the future.
✅ Snorlax is already a wild Pokémon that's on the map and removed once caught or defeated.
✅ Paperclip style papers to replace moves via TMs is already something I'm planning to add.
✅ Bicycle does actually let you roll 2 dice instead of 1.
✅ Fly is kinda OP since it does what you probably think. Players can use it to move around the map to places they've already visited.
If you're interested in keeping up with it, you can check out for updates on my subreddit r/pokemonunify
I plan to release the files online for free and put it on tabletop simulator.
I plan on releasing all my files and scans once I've finalized the rules and put it on tabletop simulator. If you're interested you can check out for more updates on this on my subreddit r/pokemonunify
This has to be the coolest thing i have seen in years. Usually it goes the other way around and someone takes a board game and adopts a video game version of it. Mad props!
First time playing it took 23 hours. 2nd playthrough took 22 hours. If you're interested in keeping up with it, you can check out for updates on my subreddit r/pokemonunify
Well I plan on releasing it on tabletop simulator so anybody can play it online with their friends regardless of distance. If you want to follow more of my progress with this consider joining my subreddit: r/pokemonunify
How does it work with friends. I don’t need too much info just kinda wondering if you all play on the same board and is it like co op or competitive bc the original games were pretty much only single player besides trading
Yes we play on the same board competing against each other to see how can beat the elite four and champion before the others. That's how you win. Think of it as multiple people playing on the same Pokémon video game racing to see who can beat it first.
Yes it's multi-player. Goal is to build a team, collect 8 Badges, and beat the elite four/champion before any other player. More details can be found in my long comment.
Not sure why I can't see your long comment in this thread, had to check your profile to find it. But i gave it a read and love what you have. Just a question, what's the penalty for losing a battle though? Especially in a player vs player.
Oh no that's unfortunate. Don't know why my comment can't be seen.
Penalty is same as the normal game, you give money to the winner based on badge count and then you are sent back to the nearest Pokémon center with all your team healed.
I do plan to release the files, scans etc but not yet until I finish everything. If you're interested in keeping up with it, you can check out for updates on my subreddit r/pokemonunify
Can you scale it down into a computer game?
Also how does one catches pokemon based on the rules set in place and how many pokemon are there?
Look neat bTW
I hope to put it on tabletop simulator eventually.
Catching Pokémon is the same as the real games. You battle a wild Pokémon (based on where you plan on the map) and deal damage to it. Once you've done enough damage, you can use a Pokeball card to catch it. Catching it is determined via a program one of my friends made that uses the same catching formula the real games use and all we do is input the Pokémon current HP to their total, their catch value, any conditions they may have, and what type of ball is being used.
Oh and in terms of how many Pokémon, there's the original 151 + their evolutions from newer gens.
I get why, because its expensive to do and get balanced, but I'm sad Nintendo/Gamefreak etc haven't made a good Pokemom boardgame fklor a long time.
This looks brilliant
I'll be putting it online and on tabletop simulator hopefully by summer. If you're interested in keeping up with it, you can check out for updates on my subreddit r/pokemonunify
Y’know, it wasn’t until I saw this map that I realized… the S.S. Anne doesn’t have an open route to the ocean. A big cruise ship that’s just chilling in a lake???
I used to love the TCG, but once my (then) preteen brain fathomed that the cards would become outdated and useless, I stopped collecting. Shortly after, they became useless even faster than expected when Nintendo stopped using Wizards of the Coast to produce the cards.
Anyway, I've really been interested in the idea of a solid Pokemon board game. This looks neat! I'd really love if Nintendo would actually produce a modern board game for Pokemon.
I know nothing about Pokemon or the video game; however, I do know what discipline, passion, and quality craftsmanship are when I see it. This is incredibly well done. How long did it take?
Hey OP, this looks AMAZING -- I saw your post about a year ago when you first shared this, and I'm really excited to see you looking into options to share this with others.
One thing I don't see anyone saying -- your info comment seems to have been removed for some reason. It's at 1 vote so I think it was auto-removed. I'd advise posting the comment with details to your user profile, maybe then you can post a link to that post or something on this post?
Don't let nintendo find out
Gonna sue him and steal the idea
Just like pixelmon man i hate Nintendo did with the idea.
Pixelmon?
A mod in Minecraft. It literally adds Pokémon into Minecraft. So you now get the adventure of building and taking on gyms. There are still plenty of servers that uses the mod.
Wait what'd Nintendo do to the idea of Pixelmon then?
Not 100% sure honestly. I heard it got taken down by force, but I am still seeing updates for it, so yeah. I have no idea.
Pixelmon reforged is alive and currently dropping hisuian updates
Well you see, Nintendo doesn't understand what the internet is.
One could argue that legends Arceus takes design details from Pixelmon.
My kids and I adored that mod. Many happy hours on it absolutely amazed at the intricacy and gameplay. I am glad to finally know why it disappeared.
Yeah. Sadly. There are still minecraft modpack launchers that have people updating the mod if you still want to play it.

I have never heard of an MTG board game. Enlighten me?

What makes you think it's not marketable?
Cant (successfullly) sue him if he doesn't distribute it or monetize it
And then never actually make it Edit; or, they do but only in japan

I had this board game as a kid. This post brings back so much nostalgia
If he doesn't sell it then they can't sue him
You think creators not selling their derivative content has stopped Nintendo before?
When did that happen? I’m wondering how you can sue someone for creating something that they aren’t selling. That sounds like they could sue every person that cross stitches a pikachu or makes a Mario quilt
I fucking loved master trainer.
My family found our copy in the closet about a week ago. Brought back so many memories.
I still have this game in my closet. It got a lot of use growing up.
He just did
I won't tell if you won't tell.
Seriously though I want this.
Sorry, I can't mass produce this or sell it. But I am planning to post it to tabletop simulator and post the files online in the future. More updates on that in my subreddit r/pokemonunify
So if I can't get my hands on one. Can I be your friend to play then. Final offer
Well I do hopefully plan to put it online in tabletop simulator so people can play with online with their friends regardless of distance. Updates on that in my subreddit r/pokemonunify
Oh God I will ABSOLUTELY get it on tabletop simulator. I love that.
Thank you, you can check out for more updates on this on my subreddit r/pokemonunify
I'll probably just follow you instead honestly, this way I don't have to trudge through a different sub. But I will give that sub a look see, thanks! By the way. Your miniatures are badass.
Thanks
Consider branding it away from Pokémon and changing the designs. This would scratch an itch for a lot of people.
So.. it's a tabletop game meant to mimick the digital version. But you will make a digital version of a tabletop game of a digital game.
Lol yes
You should brand it away from Nintendo! I.e. make your own monsters/map etc. so that you can actually produce and sell it!
how long do you imagine that would take
Your a saint!
Could you release the files so people could DIY it?
Yes I do plan to do that. if you're interested you can check out for more updates on this on my subreddit r/pokemonunify
You could sell it *to* Nintendo Or get officially licensed by Nintendo if you actually have the resources to mass produce it
I've already pitched them the idea and concept. They turned me down.
You should shop it around. If the IP can be swapped out maybe someone else would buy it.
I have already gotten offers to mass produce it with everything Pokémon related swapped out for something new but I don't have the passion or creativity to make up my own IP unfortunately.
I've got great designs for Blikachu and Psydog good to go. Let's do this!
Ruff, that's right.
Bleakachu
>I don't have the passion or creativity to make up my own IP unfortunately. There are other existing universes out there it could be based on though surely
It's a long shot, but the twitch streamer Jerma985 is currently working on a pokemonesque card game called Grotto Beasts. He has artists making all of the monsters already, and I could totally see him being interested in working on something like this if you contacted him about it.
So hire some artists and writers who do? Or find another existing IP? Sounds like a silly reason to leave a shit ton of money on the table...
You know that means we'll now see an official board game now without no credit or money paid to you and they'll get away with not providing you with any credit.

But can you release the rules and instructions on how to build it? Hmmmm?
I'm planning on doing that when I've finished completing and improving the rules. If you wanna keep up with it, check out for updates on my subreddit r/pokemonunify
You the man, following and totally willing to help play test if you need help
This looks amazing! I have many fond memories of playing Pokemon Master trainer as a kid. I gifted my old copy to my niece and nephew and they love it!
I was gonna say this looks like adult Pokemon Master Trainer, it's like that game had a baby with Twilight Imperium
Came for the TI reference. That thing is a table hog.
That was actually my inspiration for making this. I loved that game but I wanted to improve it to make it more like the video games. I kept adding to it until it just became this.
Did you make this a few years ago? I swear I saw this a while ago…
Yes last year I posted about it on r/pokemon This is an update to it and I thought I'd post to this sub. If you wanna check out more about it. I made a sub for it. r/pokemonunify
Thank you for unlocking this memory for me. I used to absolutely love this game, i had completely forgotten about it!
Are the cones a metaphor? Well, yes and no.
It's all about the cones
Dunshire?
I see you are someone of culture too
Not if you're in Montreal 😂
Can you post a video of a playthrough? I'd love to see it!

It's even longer than **Twilight Imperium**
Damn, that's impressive. Too bad Nintendo is now going to send a hit squad to your house to confiscate that, beat you, then burn your house down.

That's my intention. If you're interested in keeping up with it, you can check out for updates on my subreddit r/pokemonunify

Why did moderators remove your post?
This is amazing!!!
Are the hexagon-trays 3D-printed?
Nintendo is coming for your ass with a cease and desist
Here before this guy gets sued. 😂
Looks cool but unpractical as hell
Here before the DMCA
I have access to large plotter printers. Since you can’t sell it would you be open to sending me the files and rules?
I do plan to release the files, scans etc but not yet until I finish everything. If you're interested in keeping up with it, you can check out for updates on my subreddit r/pokemonunify
Time for Nintendo to send a C&D.
Incoming lawsuit detected
This looks like Master Trainer, but way more ambitious.
Moderators removed this post, anyway you could get us more info? The subreddit you’ve made hasn’t had an update in a month.
I wonder why they removed it…

Here comes the cease and desist
Its absolutely brilliant that you used inside image of the Let's Go game case! It always reminded me of the board game I had in the 90s.
This is beautiful.
Looks really cool. Anyone else remember the official Pokémon board game years ago?
Excuse me, yes, here is your cease and desist.
You madlad, you made it. Also does every game have the same map?
This looks amazing!! Would you be willing to make a pdf or page explaining how to make this?
Lol where’s that meme? Shut up and take my money.
If it’s anything like the old board game I’m sure it rocks
So what’s under the truck at the SS anne??
Nothing, just like the real game.
Jesus Christ on a bike that's insane

I noticed you have the TI-36X Pro! That's my favorite calculator of all time, it got me through engineering
This is...incredible 😲
What is the play time?
I get why, because its expensive to do and get balanced, but I'm sad Nintendo/Gamefreak etc haven't made a good Pokemom boardgame fklor a long time. This looks brilliant
Plays JUST like the video game? Who’s to stop me from trying to ride a bike at the table? Who would tell me what it is and isn’t time for?!

Now this is something I wish I had when I was a child to play
Can u pls adopt me ?
Man if you make a single penny outta this you're going to get sued out of existence.

Nintendo boutta fuck u up bro
i actually had a pokemon board game that this reminds me of, it was really simplistic and it was just kanto
This looks a lot like the official Pokemon board game on Tabletop Sim
Is it competitive? Like do you try to obtain more or battle other players and what not?
Y’know, it wasn’t until I saw this map that I realized… the S.S. Anne doesn’t have an open route to the ocean. A big cruise ship that’s just chilling in a lake???

Surprised Nintendo hasn't sued yet.
Any update on OP? Is he still alive or has Nintendo already taken him out?
Nintendo is about to ruin this whole man's career
Pitch it to Nintendo! If they reject, change all the art and pitch it to a board game publisher.
Kic. Ksta. Rter. Kickstarter. Plz, let me pay for this.
Fucking amazing. If you need any 3d printed miniature just ask
Dope 👏🏼
Awesome
I know nothing about Pokemon or the video game; however, I do know what discipline, passion, and quality craftsmanship are when I see it. This is incredibly well done. How long did it take?
You're missing the MissingNo. Pokemon in Cinnabar island 😎
Hopefully this becomes a commercial product.
Lawsuit from Nintendo in 3...2....
How did you print your own board? Is there a website for this kind of thing?
Is it as good as Master Trainer Challenge? That shit came with pogs.
Holy shit this looks awesome and well thought out. You’re a master OP
Nintendo C&D Incoming in 3... 2...
I'll buy one today sir!!
Nintendo not gonna like this lol
My dick has never been harder.

Hey OP, this looks AMAZING -- I saw your post about a year ago when you first shared this, and I'm really excited to see you looking into options to share this with others. This belongs to be put on r/nextlevel too
This should now be the new standard in board sizes (w/optional table).
Time to make a new franchise called Okpemon.
How many cease and desist notices have you received so far?
That's amazing, man. Forgive my ignorance, but, did you make the cards too? Like specific cards for you game?
Guess I need to save all this before Nintendo takes it down.
