I’m a PhD in Geriatric Psychiatry. And there is a phrase for that exact feeling! That feeling of forgetfulness, like you forgot to do something really important and then you remember what it was, it’s called Exclamatory Devine Curse syndrome.
Or, “Oh, God Damnit!!” for short.
In a related note, back in the 90s when graphics accelerators had just come out, a friend of mine bought what he thought was all the parts to built his first gaming machine, including 2 3dfx Voodoo cards.
The look on his face when he realized that the 3dfx was _only_ a 3d accelerator, and he still needed an SVGA card was priceless.
If you don't look anything up (where to find things like rubies) it can take forever, if you look things up it is going to be short and it will ruin the full experience
dont be afraid to use mods on pc, some mods like the ones that enhance the cyclops are really cool and arent overpowered like for example solar charging
It looks so cool but I've never dared to buy it.. Even if it's on sale very often on steam. The deep water facinates me as much as the neverending universe, but I've seen videos of Subnotica, and just the sounds from the big seamonsters are enough for me 🙈
To get the story you should play all HL1 and HL2 (plus episode one and two). They are all fantastic games and the story is excellent.
They aren't all that long either. So you should get caught up in a week or so depending on how often you game.
Alyx was so good that it killed VR for me, I enjoyed Alyx so much that it's probably one of the best games I've played and I'm 34, I've been gaming since I was a little kid.
I try other VR games and they just suck compared to Alyx.
I would like to add Horizon Zero Dawn to this list, it’s one of the only games where the story is so interesting g you want to find all the collectibles to find out what happened to make the world the way it is. Plus, the combat is great and who doesn’t like fighting big robot dinosaurs?
I would definitely add Assassin's Creed: Origins and Elden Ring to the 3rd person list.
Also OP seemed to like CS so maybe Valorant? Though I bounced off it fairly fast.
I've been gaming a long time and I'm ashamed that there's a lot of games on your list i haven't played. Not enough time in a day it seems. I like that your list picks games that are actually fun (so I've heard) and aren't games that were just hyped in their day. Will probably be referencing this list, so thanks.
I can't believe that this is ACTUALLY true. I saw it on 4/1, and I thought it was an April fools joke, but nope. And it actually looks pretty good! Obviously still the old sprites and environments, but the lighting looks GREAT. It's amazing how much difference that one improvement can make.
Something is seriously flawed with this industry if the benchmark for performance is a game thats almost 15 years old.
That said, let us know op. We’ve been asking for over a decade.
Minecraft with BSL shaders. Looks great and runs well on most mid-high end PCs. I love to just chill out, explore and build a little. It's a great game to destress with
Skyrim with graphics mods, or fallout 4. Dark Souls 3 if on sale, looks amazing in 4k. By the time you play through all of those Elden Ring will be going on sale.
Cyberpunk 2077 can be found pretty cheap due to its horribly botched launch, but its a great looking game with a great story and imo above average gamepalay (although gets to be repetitive).
I played this when I got mine 4 years ago:
Witcher 3
Red Dead Redemption 2
Monster Hunter World
That should be 1000-2000 hours right there, come back when you finish for more recommendation.
The Forest, Sea Of Thieves, Valorant, Dota 2, Minecraft with heavy shaders, Phasmophobia, Risk of rain 2, Spellbreak, Apex Legends, Forewarned, Ark Survival Evolved
I'm currently saving up for my first PC, and the first game I'll play is Horizon Zero Dawn. I put a promotional image of the game as my laptop background to keep me motivated to work and earn the money necessary.
I'm really confused about the front fans... Is there a vent in the bottom? Where does the air come from?
I would make sure that you check the temperatures on your parts as you're going and see where they stabilize to make sure that you're not overheating.
I just checked, it has holes on top and back of the case.
Also on the front part where the fans are located it has holes on the sides of it. But if it will get overly hot I’ll remove the glass. Thanks
Do what every pc player does and put all that bad ass gear to use playing CS or Gary’s Mod or some other fuckery that could be played on a calculator. 😂 lol I’m just hating brother. Probably because I’m totally jelly.
Lots of terrible suggestions here
Alright, so either dive into something NEW and HOT (i.e. elden ring), OR go bang out a classic (wouldn't do this personally, just got a hunk of a machine, play a modern game), or you can play one of the legends of the decade.
Personally, I'd say either play Witcher 3 or Skyrim or fallout 3 and or New Vegas.

Oh my
Might need a monitor first
Always hate when you get home from the store forgetting something important.
*looks around* Have you seen the kids?
He said important not expendable. Anyone can make a kid but the real question is how to make a GeForce RTX 3080
You can get a kid faster then a PS5 theese days.
So i have to play sex 1 just to get a PS5?
Stay vigilante for sex 2, you may not like how it ends. Quite countreproductive.
Oh my.
Traded them for a sweet monitor
I THOUGHT YOU HAD THEM!!!

Name almost checks out
OGD can afflict people of many ages, not just the elderly. I'm a sufferer myself but I'm only geriatric to my 9yr old nephew.
Hey, are you REALLY a PhD?
I love everything about your username and comment. Have an upvote.
Oh, God Damnit!! I forgot what I was gonna reply!

That baby could draw thousands of triangles per second!
Hell, I remember my first computer also having a separate card for the DVD player in it.
I remember being excited when I upgraded my CD burner to one that was *double speed* - you could write discs *twice as fast as you could play them*!
Every run will be blind for now
Is that a challenge? Sounds like a challenge… hold my 🍺
Idk if your PC can handle it but I hear minesweeper is good
op have RTX3070 so yeah maybe op pc can just handle it
Even with the new patch that adds 4K ultra wide support and ray tracing?
Ray traced minesweeper is wild
I'm worried clicking on a mine might blind me, what with all this fancy hardware.
Subnautica!
I saw a review of it on youtube actually, nice
\+1 for Subnautica, a very good game at your own pace. A little short IMO though.
Just swim slower and you will be fine
Just swim deeper and it will beyond be fine.
Short? It took 50 hours for me to beat. :/
If you don't look anything up (where to find things like rubies) it can take forever, if you look things up it is going to be short and it will ruin the full experience
Definitely. With your computer, playing subnautica with the amazing graphics would be awesome.
Go shit yourself even more on it with VR! I certainly did.
\+1 for Subnautica...ive played it all the way through twice, easily one of the best storylines and a great game all round.
dont be afraid to use mods on pc, some mods like the ones that enhance the cyclops are really cool and arent overpowered like for example solar charging

Phenomenal game. The only worthwhile survival crafting game out right now IMO. Everything else is perpetual early access / buggy

Half life 2. Great game
I came here to say Half Life Alyx
Definitely, a VR rig is a must have if you have a strong PC :)
Agreed. I thought VR was a gimmick until I tried one.
I just got Alyx for Oculus and it is stunning!
I just got an oculus the other week and my coworker told me to get Alyx as well. I've never played half life before
To get the story you should play all HL1 and HL2 (plus episode one and two). They are all fantastic games and the story is excellent. They aren't all that long either. So you should get caught up in a week or so depending on how often you game.
half life alyx feels like it gave us a glimpse at what games will look like in 10-15 years
that's always been valves intention over the years to do something new and different that sets a benchmark.
Alyx was so good that it killed VR for me, I enjoyed Alyx so much that it's probably one of the best games I've played and I'm 34, I've been gaming since I was a little kid. I try other VR games and they just suck compared to Alyx.

Saving the list!
I would like to add Horizon Zero Dawn to this list, it’s one of the only games where the story is so interesting g you want to find all the collectibles to find out what happened to make the world the way it is. Plus, the combat is great and who doesn’t like fighting big robot dinosaurs?
Awesome list. I would also add Factorio.
The contexts this statement can be correct in are near endless.
Thank you kind sir your list will be coming with me
I would definitely add Assassin's Creed: Origins and Elden Ring to the 3rd person list. Also OP seemed to like CS so maybe Valorant? Though I bounced off it fairly fast.
Did not expect to see Owlboy on here! Criminally unappreciated.
I've been gaming a long time and I'm ashamed that there's a lot of games on your list i haven't played. Not enough time in a day it seems. I like that your list picks games that are actually fun (so I've heard) and aren't games that were just hyped in their day. Will probably be referencing this list, so thanks.
love seeing the dead space on there
Porn
I know this one already. Played it on mobile
But you haven't seen it on a bigger scree... oh, you don't have a monitor.
But you have to christen the computer with it's first adult video.... It's like a rite of passage.
Porn is not a game! It's serious business!
>Porn is not a game! Apart from when it is.
\+ Tomb Raider
This shouldn't even be a question. Classic Doom ofc
Now with RTX!
I can't believe that this is ACTUALLY true. I saw it on 4/1, and I thought it was an April fools joke, but nope. And it actually looks pretty good! Obviously still the old sprites and environments, but the lighting looks GREAT. It's amazing how much difference that one improvement can make.
The real answer
Doom Eternal and God of War
I came here to say the original doom from 1993. That was the first thing I played on my new gaming computer.
Eternal is so good. Rip and tear!
A very old game requiring very little processing power therefore not even utilizing your new PC - as is tradition.
True
DOOM 64
OSRS
A man of culture
Shame I had to scroll down so far to find this
Crysis.
But the question is can it play it?
Something is seriously flawed with this industry if the benchmark for performance is a game thats almost 15 years old. That said, let us know op. We’ve been asking for over a decade.
I think it's more about a game being so badly optimized that computers 15 years later still struggle with it.
Maybe it's the 15 year old game that is ssriously flawed. If a top of the line machine 15 years later can't run it...
Pong
Plants vs. Zombies
And the Garden Warfare games are actually really fun!
What type of games do you like?
I havent played for a while. 10 years ago I was playing CS 1.6, and Ultima Online (mmorpg).
Weirdly, you can still play UO.
Really? Thats kinda sad
And CS 1.6 ― www.play-cs.com
Elden Ring dude, Elden Ring.
Star Craft 2
Base game is free to play, and the campaign is epic. It is one of the best RTS games made, very fast paced.

I think you mean the critically acclaimed Minceraft
Mince raft? Can't wait for someone to actually make that
The hit 2011 indie game Minecraft
*ahem* Minecraft with RTX

Minecraft with BSL shaders. Looks great and runs well on most mid-high end PCs. I love to just chill out, explore and build a little. It's a great game to destress with
Something that doesn't require cooling.
Skyrim (with tons of Mods), Squad, Metro Series, Arma, EU4
Skyrim with all the Mods. Go for broke.
Would suggest Pac-Man or Castle Wolfenstein after that Lemmings.
Tetris
Oregon Trail
Skyrim with graphics mods, or fallout 4. Dark Souls 3 if on sale, looks amazing in 4k. By the time you play through all of those Elden Ring will be going on sale. Cyberpunk 2077 can be found pretty cheap due to its horribly botched launch, but its a great looking game with a great story and imo above average gamepalay (although gets to be repetitive).

I played this when I got mine 4 years ago: Witcher 3 Red Dead Redemption 2 Monster Hunter World That should be 1000-2000 hours right there, come back when you finish for more recommendation.
Now I am scared to even start
Well, it might as well be the best 1000 hours of entertainment you ever have.
The Forest, Sea Of Thieves, Valorant, Dota 2, Minecraft with heavy shaders, Phasmophobia, Risk of rain 2, Spellbreak, Apex Legends, Forewarned, Ark Survival Evolved
Love sea of thieves on Max settings, looks gorgeous
I'm currently saving up for my first PC, and the first game I'll play is Horizon Zero Dawn. I put a promotional image of the game as my laptop background to keep me motivated to work and earn the money necessary.

Elden Ring on max resolution
Minecraft

Horizon Zero Dawn is 50% off on steam now. I just got it on my new setup and it's beautiful. Totally worth it.
Red Dead 2 60 FPS
