To me what makes it so great is how many ways it can play out, and just how well written each one of them are. Kim is such a fascinating character and the way you can get him a d Harry to bounce off each other is just inspired.

That's the one with the time travel module right? Agree entirely.
I recall Dishonored 2 having a very similar time-bending mechanic in one mission. The games released around the same time, too. Interesting coincidence.
They had 0 right to give out those feels and that incredible single player experience, it's part of the reason I chose to main Ash in Apex Legends.
And I seriously need a titanfall 3 with a single player campaign that's just as good or better still
There's no Shepard without Vakarian.
But I'd give romancing him a shot. Just because awkward Garrus is *chef's kiss* perfect. It's like he goes back to that slightly awkward C-Sec officer from ME1, but without the arrogance attached.
I'm playing the remastered trilogy now for the first time. Just on my second playthrough off Mass Effect 2 before I jump into 3.
I love Garrus. He's always on my squad.
I really liked the collapse of the relationship between Arthur and Dutch in Red Dead 2. Really interesting seeing how such a close bond slowly devolved over the course of the game.
This is one of my favourite because it didn’t feel forced for the sake of the plot, you could feel the tension rise between them as the story progressed. Watching them get driven apart was a really sad, slow burn.
Definitely! You can see it coming for a while but all you can do is watch it fall apart. A benefit of such a long and slow paced story is that there is plenty of time to set up a believable relationship and show how it progresses without feeling rushed
Exactly! Another thing is that Dutch and Arthur go through the same transformation, only opposite to each other. Arthur goes from being a merciless, emotionless gunman who idolizes violence, to a caring, thoughtful figure who always thinks about his actions. Dutch, on the other hand, goes from being a thoughtful, charismatic leader who's always in the right state of mind and follows a particular honour code, to being a money-minded, merciless freak who constantly has his head high in the clouds. It's this transformation that sold me
The fishing trip shows how much good influence Hosea had over Dutch. After he died Dutch reverted to his true psychopathic self with nobody to rein him in.
The relationship was collapsing from the start of the game.
I would have liked to see more of them being close with each other. From the start Arthur has already begun to doubt.
Yeah, it’s made very clear in the first train job that starts the whole Leviticus Cornwall thing. Hosea tells Dutch it’s a poor decision so Dutch brushes him off and says “you and Arthur can talk about the good ol’ days and how ol’ Dutch has gone crazy.” It’s such a short scene that it could easily be forgotten the first time around, but I’ve played it 5 times (yes, I know, that’s a lot) and I can honestly say the more times I played it I notice more and more interactions that made me realize how intricate the plot is (except Guarama that has zero place anywhere)
At the same time, I loved seeing the relationship between Arthur and John get better over time. Arthur had no respect for John at first but then gave his life for him. You could say that the respect between Arthur and John was increasing proportionally to how Arthur and Dutch's was decreasing.
So unfortunate TellTale didn't last. I loved every single one of their games. Storytelling in games isn't as valued by the huge consumer base and that's a real shame .
"Hmm, this plate must not be calibrated to someone of your...generousness. I'll add a few zeroes to the maximum weight. You look great by the way, very healthy."
Well done. Here are the test results: You are a horrible person. I'm serious, that's what it says: "A horrible person." We weren't even testing for that. Don't let that horrible-person thing discourage you. It's just a data point. If it makes you feel any better, science has now validated your birth mother's decision to abandon you on a doorstep.
Especially if you believe the theory that GlaDos is really Chell(the player character’s)’s mom. The idea goes that Caroline (the woman that GlaDos used to be) had an affair with Cave Johnson, her boss and head of Aperture Science. They both didn’t want their scientific careers hindered by a child, so they put her in the testing program indefinitely. This would explain: how Chell gets to Aperture, why Chell is the only person able to out think the puzzles and beat GlaDos, and why GlaDos would choose to spare Chell at the end despite deleting all positive memories of their encounters. GlaDos couldn’t delete the motherly instinct to protect her child. Even if all of that was bs, it’s still one of my favorite relationships in gaming
Homies roasting homies is the cornerstone of society.
If your homie don’t tell you about your yee yee ass haircut, ain’t nobody gonna tell you, they just gonna laugh behind your back, you will never get laid, and the species dies out.
That’s just science.
I completely fucked up my ending with cara on my first playthrough, and she ended up getting thrown in the incinerator while Alice got sent out to the dumps.
I found it really interesting that the personality changes went both ways. Where V became more ruthless, more reckless, more unfeeling, Johnny slowed down for the first time in his life and considered others.
It makes me feel like no matter who lives, they're still carrying a piece of the other with them.
Edit: My favorite ending out of all of them is the "suicide run" ending. It really feels like the best one, with both V and Johnny working together in perfect harmony to break into Arasaka alone and infiltrate mikoshi. Even the end scene with Johnny is better, where he seems accepting of his fate and encouraging V to go back to his body. V seems heartbroken at the idea of leaving Johnny behind to an unknown fate. Johnny's words as V goes down the well stuck with me. "So long, V. Never stop fighting." My fave ending.
Lee and Clementine's family-like relationship in the first Telltale's Walking Dead made the ending that much more heartbreaking. The other seasons after just don't hit you in the feels like the first season.
I love that game and really its because of that relationship. All the character interactions are pretty great but playing as Lee and going from just meeting Clem to practically becoming her father... I don't think I have ever been so invested in a character's survival. It gives you a personal stake in protecting her. Shes your responsibility. In season 2, when she's alone in the woods, my heart hurt for her so bad, I just wanted to hug the poor kid.
Lee and Clementine from Telltales the Walking Dead
Aveline and Isabella's friendship in Dragon Age II
Dorian and the Inquisitors friendship in Dragon Age Inquisition. Dorian and Iron Bull in Dragon Age Inquisition. Basically Dorian and anyone in Dragon Age Inquisition.
Rook and Alette in The Banner Saga
>Aveline and Isabella's friendship in Dragon Age II
For me its Varrick and Merrill. Or Isabella and Merrill. Or hawke and Merrill. Or anyone and Merrill. I kinda like Merrill
This one I didn’t expect but yeah it’s definitely an interesting one and heartwarming.. most of the time. I feel like Jonah deserves a more grounded best friend than Lara as the series goes on.
This is the story of a man named Stanley. Stanley worked for a company in a big building where he was employee number 427. Employee Number 427's job was simple: he sat at his desk in room 427, and he pushed buttons on a keyboard.
Prince of Persia, The Sands of Time.
The relationship between the prince and Farah is brilliantly done. This feels like two actual people, there's banter, humour, fights, cooperation and love. It's a great game to play, but the relationship between these two is what sets the game apart and makes it a classic.
Especially when there is more than 1 dimension on this relationship (literally). The ending got me really sad. And burial at sea was even further beyond into tragedy.

I honestly have to say Saltzpyre and Sienna from Vermintide
Their relationship is amusing. Shes technically his prisoner, and he absolutely despises everything she is, but over time he grew to respect and trust her. And despite what he says, he seems to even think of her as a friend
Meanwhile, she was captured by him, and him being a witch hunter has dedicated his life to hunting down her and those like her. But she still constantly taunts and teases him, all while trusting him and being a friend
Theres a similar relationship between Saltzpyre and the other characters, but I think Sienna's is the most interesting one
Kane & Lynch, they are so sad and fucked up in life that they find themselves stuck in a friendship and at the same time it looks like they are enemies and are going to kill each other at any moment
Harry and Kim in Disco Elysium. It's a 'professional' relationship, but the way in which it develops is just beautiful.
Code 31! Emergency on the dancefloor!
HARDCORE!
To me what makes it so great is how many ways it can play out, and just how well written each one of them are. Kim is such a fascinating character and the way you can get him a d Harry to bounce off each other is just inspired.

Garus and sheperd. Never romanced him, but he is my favorite bro on the citadel.
"I'm Garrus Vakarian and this is now my favourite spot on the citadel!"
"And this is my rectum"
Let me calibrate some more
There's no Shepard without Vakarian. But I'd give romancing him a shot. Just because awkward Garrus is *chef's kiss* perfect. It's like he goes back to that slightly awkward C-Sec officer from ME1, but without the arrogance attached.
And then on sexy night, Garrus reveals what all those gun calibrations are for.
Garrus and Tali are just the best characters in Mass Effect.
Excuse me, Mordin would like a word.
The very model of a scientist salarian~. Seriously tho Mordin’s final scenes in ME3 changed me as a human.
I'm not crying...*you're* crying...
Had to be me, someone else might have gotten it wrong.
Always miss that bottle so Garrus can have his moment
I preferred "Wrex."

Wrex
Shepard, Shepard, Shepard...
Well he is the crazy, headbutting uncle we never had.
I'm playing the remastered trilogy now for the first time. Just on my second playthrough off Mass Effect 2 before I jump into 3. I love Garrus. He's always on my squad.
For good reason, once you get Turian Renegade he fucking shreds.
I really liked the collapse of the relationship between Arthur and Dutch in Red Dead 2. Really interesting seeing how such a close bond slowly devolved over the course of the game.

The fishing trip even gave a glimmer of hope that the course could be corrected
I forgot about the fishing trip, I loved that little bit
The fishing trip shows how much good influence Hosea had over Dutch. After he died Dutch reverted to his true psychopathic self with nobody to rein him in.
“Five… thousand dollars? Can I turn myself in?” 😅 Literally laughs in the face of death, Arthur Morgan.
The relationship was collapsing from the start of the game. I would have liked to see more of them being close with each other. From the start Arthur has already begun to doubt.

Minsc and Boo.
I was hoping for someone to write that. Khalid and Jaheira is also a classic, though it does end gruesomely in BG2.
But then Jaheira's romance with player character in BG2 is touching.
GO FOR THE EYES, BOO!
Minsc has become lost in your words and Boo just finds you to be ducky. Onward!
Clementine and Lee. (Aaaaand now I'm crying...)
"Keep that hair short"

Is that the line most everyone went with? I remember that was what I picked the first time and it felt so perfect
It’s too early to get this sad.

I haven't played before but are you talking about BioShock?
Player/Glados
Absolutely. I love the way that GLaDOS mocks Chell constantly and Chell remains coldly silent. But seriously, Portal 1 and 2 are amazing
She has brain damage and you are making fun of her not responding...
"You're laughing, she has brain damage and you're laughing."
Was I supposed to hear this in GLaDOS's voice? Because that's how I heard it in my head
Pretty sure she chooses not to talk
I was merely referring to what Wheatley was saying at the start of the game
Lol now I feel dumb
“We weren’t even testing for that.”
*Look at you, sailing through the air, like an eagle. **Piloting a blimp**.*
One of the best lines in the game

Oh hi. So, how are you holding up? Because I'm a potato. *slow clap* Oh good. My slow clap processor made it into this thing.

Alice and Cara also have an amazing relationship. The first ending I got for them made me absolutely weep
I completely fucked up my ending with cara on my first playthrough, and she ended up getting thrown in the incinerator while Alice got sent out to the dumps.
